Earlier today, we wrote about about outgoing Log Cabin director R. Clarke Cooper and the fallout from LCR’s New York Times ad attacking Chuck Hagel.
Interim Log Cabin Republican director Gregory T. Angelo (right) responded with the following statement:
“Regarding your speculation that R. Clarke Cooper?s departure had something to do with the New York Times ad, the truth is Clarke gave his notice to the board in October—a fact that has been reported in a number of other media outlets.
Regardless of the outcome of the presidential election, Clarke had always intended to transition out of his role as ED of Log Cabin in the months following the election.
Also, [the Guardian‘s] Glenn Greenwald misrepresented Clarke?s statement about the funding for our advertising campaign. Many of the donors who contributed to the ad have been long-time LCR donors. The statement Clarke made, which Greenwald misquoted for his own conspiratorial purposes, was that the money was not paid out of general operating funds. LCR created the ad and then found people to fund it, most of which were current supporters.”
President Obama has yet to make an official announcement about nominating Hagel for Secretary of Defense, but the former senator’s chances seem to be dwindling, as both conservatives and LGBT advocates come out against the appointment.

The group, not Cooper responds. Their excuse is that there is a conspiracy to mis-report.
Yeah Yeah Yeah, I’m sure that the fact that their own members were deserting in droves and their fundraising was tanking had nothing to do with any of thise.
But you know…..keep on playing the victim card, after all it worked REALLY well for Sara Palin, for a short time.

So it took them several days to come up with this “damage control.” Of course, the first thing you say is that you were misquoted, and then you blame the media for creating a controversy. Notice how he still fails to address the issue of why Israel is so important to the LCR when it has never been an issue before. Their hope is that by claiming the victim card, no one will notice the obvious.
Sorry, kiddo. Doesn’t work anymore. If what you are saying is the truth, you would have said that to Glenn Greenwald, and you would have said it to everyone else. But you didn’t — you waited several days until the shit hit the fan, and then conveniently found this excuse.

I would be highly suspicious of anything coming from the Lug Cabin Republican camp. They’re nothing but a straw person and speaker for the conservative misfits. Are they really worth our attention? (They did more to get President Obama re-elected than helping to get Mitts into office. Such weaklings!

Notice too, how they don’t explain their inconsistent position. They were happy to endorse Paul Ryan despite his obvious hostility to gay rights, and his consistent voting pattern against us. Yet they condemn Hagel for one comment made 10 years ago.
If they are going down that route, then they simply won’t be able to endorse any republican candidate for many years to come.

Here’s my theory. There are people in the R party who are muzzling any sort of pro-gay moves from the LCR. The old leader, tired of looking like a caricature in front of his friends and family, made a “bad” move challenging Hagel for the latter’s anti-gay comments. That was too much for the muzzlers and they kicked him out.
All gay republicans should realize by now that they dont get any respect in the R party

I would agree with your comments but for the fact that the leader worked for Bush and the RNC and came out publically and attacked Obama both when he signed the DADT repeal and when the President came out in favor of gay marriage.
He is so ridiculously partisan that he attacked the president for saying he favored gay marriage. The guy was right on board with everything going on.
