ExxonMobil is the insanely profitable oil giant that spilled its oil in Alaska, not the Gulf of Mexico, in case you’re confused. It’s also the company that, when Exxon and Mobil merged, removed LGBT protections, which had GetEQUAL all upset recently. Well keep those frowns turned upside down: During a shareholder vote yesterday in Dallas, only 22 percent voted in favor of adding anti-discrimination policies that cover sexual orientation. That’s down from last year’s 40 percent.

How does that even work out? :S How do you get a fifty percent decrease in support without any really major public scandals or the like? This is really quite confusing, and more importantly worrying.

Anyone here old enough to remember the Coors beer boycott back in the 70’s? Boycotting does work.

This article doesn’t include the facts.
The Annual Exxon Mobil annual shareholders Meeting:
2009 – 40% of shareholders voted in favor of “partner benefits.”
2010 – 22% of shareholders voted in favor of “partner benefits.”
We lost HALF the support we had the previous year. What happened?
For the previous 7 years in a row we made progress.
But, this year, we were all treated to GetEQUAL’s childish “Dump the Pump” protest, which sought to inconvenience people AT A CONVENIENCE STORE, another senseless act of demanding/complaining.
I have asked a dozen times for someone, anyone, to please connect the dots about the logic of these stunts. They are not civil disobedience. They are not rallies of support. They are high-profile complaining stunts purportedly to “apply pressure” on their targets. They typically backfire.
We should recognize the potential damage being created by these loose cannons. GetEQUAL has a responsibility to make some sense of their strategy. We do not need to run around complaining, embarrassing and insulting. Those “actions” don’t change any minds or garner any support. They should stop.

The ink wasn’t even dry on the merger documents between Exxon and Mobil and the new and improved Exxon Mobil eliminated domestic partner bennies for LGBT employees.
Odd, since a number of other Big Oil companies like Chevron offer domestic partner bennies.
Anyway, the day it was announced Exxon Mobil decided to treat their LGBT employees like dirty dogs, I shredded my credit card. I have others to use.

@Mike: Exxon Mobil doesn’t care about FaceBook. We need to continue what we started in Dallas – DUMP THE PUMP.
Go to Exxon stations and inconvenience customers. They’ll get mad and call Exxon. Exxon doesn’t like mad customers. See? Go make demands. Go irritate people. Squeaky wheels get the lube.
Demanding = Rights

I can think of two possibilities here: one is that the ones who’ve changed their minds are looking to see if ENDA will go through, and the other is that a large portion of those who don’t like the current policy sold their stock.
