Ezra Miller just flashed the audience. Just our luck.
The actor, known for outstanding performances as Tilda Swinton’s psycho-killer son in We Need To Talk About Kevin and the flamboyant best friend Patrick in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, just made history as the first actor, let alone out actor, on the big screen to don the iconic costume as The Flash.
Beloved superhero of the DC Universe (also home to Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman), The Flash, along with his titular film, has labored in Development Hell. His period in purgatory finally came to an end with the release of Justice League, the movie that kicks off the next phase of the DC comics movie universe, and unites him with iconic heroes like Aquaman, Cyborg, and the aforementioned trifecta of Batman-Superman-Wonder Woman.
Miller enlivens Justice League as the wise-cracking Flash. His inclusion marks a decided turn away from the dour, violent take offered by Batman v. Superman, continuing a trend toward a lighter tone begun by Wonder Woman earlier this year.

Miller’s headlining also signals a decided step towards universal acceptance of queer people. Miller has already spoken out about forces with in the industry that pressured him to stay closeted, and that out-queer actors can’t become major stars. Until now, history offers mixed evidence. The bisexual bomb Angelina Jolie had no trouble scoring box office hits with Salt or Mr. & Mrs. Smith, nor have Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, or Michelle Rodriguez. Men however, like Ian McKellen in the X-Men series, have played decidedly non-sexual roles. Even Zachary Quinto, the latter day Spock in the reboot of Star Trek, got only the half-assed treatment. Though Quinto’s Spock has a relationship with Zoe Saldana’s Uhura, Spock can only have sex once every seven years. No wonder their relationship feels hollow.

Miller’s Flash though has plenty of collegiate male horniness and snark to boot, and with his own solo film Flashpoint on the way, we look forward to seeing him with some love in his life. If the movie follows comics canon, that will come in the form of journalist Iris West, though we wouldn’t mind at all seeing Miller’s Flash with a little male companionship.

I’ve thought that he’s sexy since seeing him in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” a few years back, but my perception of “sexy” is probably broader than most.

I went to see it last night and it was not bad at all…i would give it a B- because I am sick and tired of Superman’s lovelife with Lois Lane. Cut her scenes and I would’ve given it an A

This movie looks terrible — just another box office piece of shit.
That said, it wouldn’t surprise me if Miller acted well in the film. I’ve only seen him in a few things, but he’s done well.
As for the whole Flash thing… I’m partial to Grant Gustin. And the whole new DC cinematic universe (or whatever they’re calling it) looks terrible. I have no plans to see this film or any of the others. I didn’t watch Batman vs Superman either. And who thought Ben Affleck would make a good Batman?

Some bitch reviewer described Miller’s Flash as “flamboyantly feminine.” I hope she’s just being a homophobic cünt. I mean I’m all for a Superqueero eventually; but please first can we firmly establish in the public’s mind that regular superhero/action heroes can be convincingly played by gay or “queer” (Christ, I hate that word) actors?

He is the funny one in the movie. Lots of self deprecating humor, recognizing his main attribute is speed not strength compared to the rest of the Justice League. He is a loner but not in a sad way. Also a fanboy in the sense, he is awed by the others – WonderWoman, AquaMan, Superman and even Batman (just like a young Peter Parker is with the rest of the Avengers) and just trying to be buddies with Cyborg since they would be the youngest of the JL .
And you have seen this on the trailer, it is funny when he says – I usually just push people and then run away. ha ha ha!

They go through Pon Farr every seven years, where they get super horny and have to mate or go through the kal-if-fee ritual battle else they die. But they can have sex at anytime.

Thank you for the reports on the movie guys. I think I’ll just wait till half price Tuesday and see it in I-Max 3D for eleven bucks just like I did Thor. God its so great to be back home again. Not that I’m trying to rub the price in your face for those of you in Chicago, L.A., D.C., NYC, Phila…….etc. lol lol

I saw Justice League last night and it’s not as bad as the critics have made out. I was even surprised by Ben Affleck’s performance because I really expected him to be much worse. I have to admit that I did find the Flash character to be a bit if a yapping Chihuahua and it kind of got a bit annoying. I doubt he will get his own film. Can’t wait to see Momoa in Aquaman.
