An animal lover was baffled after a photo of his 3-day-old puppy was banned from Facebook for ‘violating community standards.’
Seeing as Facebook is roughly 15% pet photos, how could this happen?
Well, here’s the image shared by 16-year-old Dominic Ibaos that sent the social network’s censor squad’s heads a-spinning:
Dimitri, my hairless puppy.

Cute!
“I got a notification saying it had been blocked a few minutes after I posted it to the group,” Nikki told the Mirror. “It’s really hard for me to see the penis perspective because when I look at it I always just see the puppy.”
The puppy, a rare Xoloitzcuintli breed named Dimitri, has become a viral sensation.
After the hilarious misunderstanding, Ibaos took to Twitter to share, and the post quickly tens of thousands of retweets.
A star is born:

Facebook’s policy on pictures is confusing. I see where here it questionable. I posted a picture of a gigantic beach towel with a caption of “my latest Costco purchase” and it was rejected. When I questioned them over it, the relented and posted it. Never did find out why it was rejected.

That top photo doesn’t look anything like the ugliest dick you’ve ever seen in your life. What is wrong with these people?!

I’ve seen worse, sadly.

i posted a pic on FB from the gym wearing shorts (very short but bigger than a speedo!) and it was rejected for “violating community standards” buts girls can post pics with tiny gstring bikinis… WTF, totally random

A few years back there were some youtube channels dedicated to having men doing the same thing as women and wearing the same or similar clothing to highlight the double standard that both Google and Facebook have for male content compared to female content. As far as I know, the lesson did not sink in, because the double standard is still enforced.

Facebook routinely rejected postings from lgbt bars. If they were questioned on it they would relent but always after delaying the posting for a few days for the fight.

It’s not a person, Facebook has this new automatic program that trolls around in the background looking for dirty pictures and hate speech in everyone’s posts. It thought that looked like a penis, and I can see why it did. No one has to report you anymore, they come looking for you.
When someone protests the bot’s decision you go in the queue for human inspection, that’s why there’s a delay.

It seems that to be a Facebook picture moderator, the main requirement is the possession of a particularly dirty mind. 🙂
