Elton John‘s love for Hillary Clinton may be tainted.
The British-born singer crooned last week for the presidential candidate, thus helping her raise $2.5 million, but now right-wing Judicial Watch has filed a formal FEC complaint against Clinton.
John’s contribution, they say, breaks federal election laws. A foreign national, read the regulations, cannot “make a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value…in connection with a Federal, State or local election.”
Said Judicial Watch’s president, Tom Fitton:
Recent news reports suggest that Hillary Clinton and Hillary Clinton for President have accepted an in-kind contribution from a foreign national, Sir Elton John, in contravention of federal electon laws. On behalf of Judicial Watch and its supporters, I hereby request that the FEC investigate this matter.
It looks as if Elton John, a foreign national, gave a valuable, in-kind contribution to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, which is prohibited by law. The FEC and other authorities need to take appropriate action and investigate Hillary Clinton, her campaign, and Elton John.
Clinton’s campaign had no comment on this right wing criticism, of course.
Fitton may just find his head is fittin’ his ass…ole Hill is kinda slick with cooking the books re contributions.
Which of course makes her ideal Presidential material: it’s gonna take a Clinton to put the US economy back on course.
I could never figure out why she just didn’t get an American to give a concert. Why choose a foreign national? It just seems so stupid. Like he’s going to bring in all the British votes for her?
so glad the FEC has time to investigate Democrats but never Republicans or so it seems. This does highlight the need for taxpayer funded elections and equal access on the airwaves.
All good points made above aside, and with no malice or hostility toward Senator Clinton, Judicial Watch is right on. I am not a right-wing conservative, but I do make my living in the law. And we are a nation of laws, not personalities. Senator Clinton seems to have a propensity for subverting the law when it comes to raising money (i.e. the current civil case pending in CA initiated by Peter Paul, among other examples).
You think ‘cooking the books’ is a good way to fix this broken economy? Good grief that kind of thing is what caused the problem in the first place. ‘Creative accounting only hides a problem and passes it on until later.
Remember Enron? How about a candidate that’s actually honest?
I guess Hillary does not have the good judgment she has been claiming throughout campaign. Aside from the possible poor judgment in violating the election laws, our girl does not have good judgment in picking her friends either.
You may recall that Hillary sat down a few weeks ago and shamelessly bowed to Richard Mellon Scaife, the owner of the Pittsburg Tribune. Scaife is a known right-wing billionaire who goes after Democrats with vengence. He is also the same Scaife who bankrolled the Clinton witch hunt (no pun intended) regarding whitewater, Vince Foster, and Bill’s sexcapades while Bill was President.
So what you ask? Scaife is the primary contributor to Judicial Watch, the organization which filed the FCC complaint. Scaife has donated more than $7 million to Judicial Watch.
I guess that answers the question whether Hillary’s Faustian deal and ass-kissing in Pittsburgh bore in fruit.
did Elton give her money or just sing at her fundraiser for free?
I work in philanthropy and am very familiar with govenment regulations regulating contributions. Contributions fall into three categories: 1) Cash and cash equivalents, 2)Tangible non-cash (“in-kind”) goods, and 3)Intangible non-cash goods/services.
The U.S. govenment is very clear (and always has been) that regardless of nationality or citizenship, a service performed by an individual is NOT a contribution and cannot be considered that way for tax, election, or other purposes. Singing is a nontangible good (otherwise known as a service) and therefore the basis of the complaint–that Elton John illegally contributed an in-kind service–is moot.
This is yet another example of Obamamaniacs proliferating nonsense based on seemingly viable information in order to raise doubts about the Clinton campaign. After all, these types of attacks are all you can do if your candidate has a half-page resume.
Tony is right on this one. Go Hillz and Elton John!

The point is Hillary sold her soul to obtain Scaife’s support and he used Judicial Watch to stab her in the back with the pitchfork.
BTW, I am a recovering Clinton supporter, until she decided to employ a campaign tactic that elevated McCain as a better choice than Obama.
Doesn’t her campaign start to smell like someone who is running for McCain to win so that she can run again in 2012? It stinks to high heaven!
If Obama gets the nom, I hope McCain wins and Hillary runs again in 2012. Obama is an idiot.
So when does the Bitch Republic get to secede from the United States?
You seem to be wrapped up in the cult of personality that you accuse “Obamamaniacs” of. To toss out a Democratic nominee, to elect a republican for 4/8 years, just so your favorite candidate can run again? On that note, I’ll drive headfirst into oncoming traffic, that way I can look forward to the flowers at the hospital!
A term in office may only last four years. A supreme court appointment lasts a lifetime.
Obama will be worse for our country than ol’ John McCain.
Yes, arrest her ass, anything to get Mrs Oakley out of the race, so that President Obama can finish McSame off.
And we wil make sure she never wins that seat and I do mean NEVER!
The BITCH needs to hang it up!
By the McCain when he wins will fuck the LGBT community up. And you won’t be voting in 2012. Because the republicans will make sure you don’t exist. For the LGBT community voice in politics will be anilhilated. And for jumping the isle to vote for them against Obama serves you right!
