There’s been some clever Insta-marketing generating conversation around James Franco’s gay project du jour, King Cobra.
The latest on-set share? Why it’s none other than ex-Disney Channel star Garrett Clayton showing off his booty shorts as Brent Corrigan.
Here’s the photo Garrett shared:
The film tells the story of murdered gay porn producer Bryan Kocis’ at the hands of two of his stars, Harlow Cuadra and Joseph Kerekes, in 2007. Then-underage Corrigan found himself wrapped up in a turf war between rivaling studios, which ultimately contributed to the vicious crime.

In a statement on Facebook, Corrigan wrote, “I was originally approached to be a part of the film as a consultant and the cast. I was asked to play a small part in the film and declined the role.”
Here’s how Clayton stacks up to Corrigan even without those consulting fees:
Lindoro Almaviva
I was visiting Garret’s instagram and, God forgive me, he set my gaydar off to deafening levels. No, it is not wishful thinking, I’d rather do a manwich with Gerald McCullouch and Allen Silver. This kid set my gaydar off in a major way.
GayMafiaKingpin
@Lindoro Almaviva: Well, he’s a creation of Disney. They all kind of give off that vibe. Regardless, talking about it like it’s some scandalous topic isn’t helping matters. It doesn’t matter if he’s gay or not. He may be, but I don’t care.
Magnus
Garrett Clayton is a million times more attractive than Brent Corrigan, too bad in reality Clayton isn’t the porn star and Corrigan is just the one portraying him.
FD
Well, he does look like a gay pornstar…
Cagnazzo82
Garret Clayton and Brent Corrigan doing a flip-flop. I wonder how many tickets that would sell 🙂
On a more serious note, this is such a strange topic to do a biopic on. A gay porn producer that was murdered?… and over Brent Corrigan?
Well, whatever… I’ll just enjoy the eyecandy. Thanks ambiguously gay/not-gay? James Franco 😉
Stache99
@Magnus: In your opinion. Clearly not shared by many. That said I’m not into either as I’m not into twinks.
Masc Pride
They both look like under developed lesbians.

Cough-Bullshit-Cough
So Corrigan has been trying to become a mainstream actor and then claims he turned down a role in a Screen Actors Guild Union Hollywood pic helmed by James Franco? More likely, he tried to get a consulting fee, they said no, and now he is claiming he turned them down.
That load he is trying to pass off here is bigger than anything in his movies I’m guessing.
Chevelter
I find them both insanely attractive and couldn’t possibly pick a fave.
Robert Barber
He will do…lol in a pinch.Just as gorgeous now lets see it?
jheryn
@Stache99: And you come by your ‘factual’ statement “clearly not shared by many” from where?
Whatever…
I find GC much more attractive as well.
Stache99
@jheryn: Brent Corringon was or is worshipped by allot of gay men who have fantasies about doing someone very boyish or young looking. He was at the height of his popularity when he was still just a teenager. I’m not even into him but at least I can recognize that.
Stache99
@jheryn: I really don’t see much different between them other then do you like blonds over brunettes.
jheryn
@Stache99: How does that translate into gay men finding Corrigan more attractive? There are many just as famous porn stars out there who during their height fell into that “fantasy young guy” role. Is BC more attractive than all of them too?
Being a fantasy and being attractive are two different things.
Cagnazzo82
@Masc Pride: That is actually pretty funny 🙂
Bob LaBlah
@Masc Pride……you hit the nail on the head with that one, honey. But ol’ Bob Lablah ain’t in that. No matter how true it appears. lol
@Cam: I kinda thought along the same lines too. He says he didnt accept the role but does not say if he whether he accepted or turned down the consultant position. That seemingly CONSTANT, glued on plucked chicken expression gets on ones nerve after all of a minute in my book and my guess is Franco felt the same. I just wonder if was the thirty second or one minute mark in Franco’s case.

in re the suggestion that Sean Lockhart (aka Brent Corrigan) wasn’t asked to participate in the King Cobra production …
It is hard to imagine James Franco’s production using Lockhart’s name and life story with paying to license such. BRENT CORRIGAN is claimed as a trademark, presumably with Sean Lockhart as the owner.
Lockhart has allegedly seen the script for King Cobra. So, he knows if the project is just going to be a short film like Franco’s Interior Leather Bar. Given, the speed at which the project is going (Christian Slater seems to have only worked one day on the project), the project doesn’t appear to be two hour movie.
The Sex And The City Franchise shows that “authors” don’t always make millions from licensing their works for tv and films.
Jerry Green
Woof!

If Christian Slater is playing Bryan Kocis and,
Christian Slater only filmed for one day on the movie King Cobra, then,
King Cobra will have very little to do with the book it is allegedly based on. If anything,
King Cobra just might be James Franco imagining how Bryan Kocis was actually killed (i.e. a short film) as with Franco’s 60 minute Interior Leather Bar.
James Franco is also currently shooting the HBO Series “The Deuce”. Another indication that King Cobra won’t be a two hour movie.
Bob LaBlah
Marion, I’m not being sarcastic with this question but it seems you might be able to answer it. If he has to pay him then wouldn’t he have to pay the all of the other characters such as the family of the killers and the minor characters such as the other actors in this real life episode drama pic? This happened before the trademark, if I understand correctly, of Sean’s stage name of Brent Corrigan. And then there is Brent Everett, whom I doubt was pleased to have to relive this shit since he was VERY successful with his website and such afterwards. Please advise. Thanks.

@Bob LaBlah: “If he has to pay him then wouldn’t he have to pay the all of the other characters such as the family of the killers and the minor characters such as the other actors in this real life episode drama pic?”
I’m not an expert on licensing so-called LIFE RIGHTS for films but, at the very least, all of these people in Luzerne County (Kocis’ relatives and others) could threaten to sue the King Cobra production if they think they are being presented in a negative light.
Sean Lockhart (aka Brent Corrigan) claims to have seen the script for King Cobra and he claims that he licensed his names (BRENT CORRIGAN and SEAN LOCKHART) to the film.
In re authors not always profiting big from licensing books to tv and film, there is the author of “Sex And The City”. Lockhart should know something at this point about who actually profits from films (namely, the producers and sometimes the headliners). I think I too would hold out for a Producer’s Credit in a film about my life.
As for Bushnell, everyone thinks she made a mint off Sex And The City at HBO and in syndication. But lore has it that Bushnell sold the rights to Sex And The City producer Darren Star for a mere $60,000 way back in 1996. Asked about her payday from the deal, Bushnell back in 2005 confirmed to Radar that she’d taken the opportunity to cash out long before Sex And The City took off and said it was “highly unlikely” that she’d ever see a dime from its syndication. http://deadline.com/2007/01/nbc-oks-new-show-by-sex-and-the-city-author-candace-bushnell-1003/

This man I am pretty sure is gay.
rand503
Yeah, that pose at the top of the deck stairs is 100% gay.

@Stache99: OK, the way to settle this is for me to take them both on a vacation for about a week to ten days and when I get back, I should have the answer. I sure would suck if either or both of them asked me to keep it totally confidential; there is no way to say ‘no’ to that request coming from the person you were going to talk about, so you keep your mouth shut. Whatever, the vacation would be fun, no matter the sex.
Bob LaBlah
@Marionpaige……Thanks for your honesty.
Magnus
@Stache99: For one Brent Corrigan is about 5’7 while Garret Clayton is about 6’2… Second Garret Clayton has overall better facial features, better hair, and a better body than Brent. I never understood why anyone found Brent enticing. Garrett on the other hand is a dream boat.
Magnus
@Masc Pride: Are you one of those hyper-masculine gays who deep down have insecurities about being gay?
stranded
@Magnus: Different strokes for different folks. Both guys are cute, but for my personal preference, I think Corrigan is cuter.
Also Queerty, what’s the point of calling Clayton a Disney star? Two different post, you did it, and it feels like you’re trying to soil the Disney brand.
MarionPaige
The Costume Designer for King Cobra The Movie appears to have let it slip that shooting on the film will be three weeks long, at least in upstate NY where filming is currently taking place. http://www.bitchless.net/index.php?showtopic=106690
Is three weeks typically how long it takes to shoot a 2 hour movie?
There are three main phases of production. Preproduction, production, and postproduction. The middle phase is what’s also known as “principal photography”, this is when the cameras are rolling and the actors perform. This is where the bulk of the shooting takes place. I’d guesstimate that principal photography is usually 8 weeks on average. Smaller movies maybe do it in 3 or 4 weeks, and really really big movies take however damn long they please. https://www.quora.com/On-average-how-long-does-it-take-to-film-a-movie On average, how long does it take to film a movie?

If the movie is based off of a book that already cleared all the legal hurdles they might not need to get individual sign off’s
Joe
He looks like he’s still a Disney star. How old is he?

That bratty girl sitting behind us on the Warner Bros. Studio tour tram must be ripping her hair over this. I asked he what is “Pretty Little Liars” about? Her reply, “Only the best show on TV.” She couldn’t even give me an answer, just a snotty remark and it was said snotty, with her father sitting next to her.I would never allow my kid to speak to an adult in such manner. Perhaps, the apple does not fall far from tree. She couldn’t contain herself when we reached the old “Gilmore Girls” area where they shoot the “PLL” show.
BigWill
@Cagnazzo82: I don’t think it’s that unusual, there’s a precedent: Star 80, about Dorothy Stratten, a Playmate of the year; Wonderland, about the murder John Holmes was involved with, are two that come to mind.

The litigation over life rights and movie royalties for the movie Dog Day Afternoon went on for 4 Decades.

How ironic that a Disney star is playing a gay role. Back in the 60’s Disney personally fired Tommy Kirk, a major star, because he thought he was gay (by the way, he was).
jantheman4903
wasnt my type but corrigan had a voracious bottoming ability,of age/barely but no real muscles. helix looks for that now. now to me he looks very plain in face/nice but normal and the normal bulgy build.he said he would never go back to porn..then only in his company..how other companies.i think medically safe bb soon. he seems drawn to it all.
scotty
id still drink his bathwater. on the rocks. mixed with brent everetts.

@jheryn: Yes, I too was wondering what the source of “not shared by many” could be.
scace
@Stache99: ridiculous unsubstantiated remark.I’m sure there will be a significant mumber of tickets sold by fans of Garrett Clayton. If you’ve not into twinks your opinion on this matter is faulty at best
Ksb1978
Reads title that says James Franco movie. Think to myself James Franco wants to be gay so badly. Scroll down to find thumbnail with pic of Franco titled James Franco “I wish I was gay”. Of course, Qeerty.

@MarionPaige: One hour TV shows film in a week’s time. This isn’t Scorsese, more Roger Corman, I’d say.

Fuck. You are all jealous bitches nice guy. No leather as I like. But could fuck in a quick second.
