Modern Family

First, he married his daughter’s boyfriend. Now, a baby.

Remember the name Barrie Drewitt-Barlow? Drewitt-Barlow, 55, landed in the headlines earlier this year when he announced he had left his husband to marry his daughter’s ex-boyfriend, Scott Hutchinson, 30 years his junior. Now the pair have made headlines again, welcoming their first child together.

“Welcome to the world out beautiful daughter – Valentina Willow Drewitt-Barlow x our girl is almost a month early but she is perfect,” Drewitt-Barlow posted to Instagram. “We feel totally blessed x I love you Scott.”

At the time of this writing, the post has received more than 1,200 likes.

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow first made headlines in 1999 when he and this then-partner, Tony Drewitt-Barlow, became “Britain’s First Gay Dads.” The couple sued and won the right to be named as co-parents to twins born to a surrogate. In all, Tony & Barrie had five children together. The pair also moved their family to Florida and opened their own surrogacy advisory company.

Barrie and Tony announced their split earlier this year. The former then announced he had entered a relationship with Scott (the former boyfriend of Barrie and Tony’s daughter Saffron), and that the pair intended to marry and have a child together. In a strange move, Barrie endorsed the relationship, and the family announced they would all live together in their Florida home.

Sounds like the makings of a sitcom, doesn’t it? Maybe the Drewitt-Barlows could be the basis for a Full House reboot.
