If you haven’t been streaming the thing from his MySpace page, you should be. As he tells OutQ’s Larry Flick, the track “Soaked,” written by Muse’s Matt Bellamy, is about “drunken one-night stands.” Which is a story that needs to be told from the homo perspective. (Read: Enough “Dirrty”-esque tracks from heteros.)
Oh, and it’s going to be a huge commercial success!
On track to sell some 600,000 copies in its first week, For Your Entertainment blew away Kris Allen’s debut (80,000 copies). Getting banned by ABC, and blurred by CBS, is great publicity, innit?

I think you’re confusing Adam with Susan Boyle, who is predicted to sell 600.00 albums this week. Adam’s predicted numbers are somewhere around 215.00-230.00 (according to sources at Billboard and HitsDailyDouble), which is still a whole lot and will probably make him the #2 seller for the week. There’s a news source that has been falsely reporting SuBo’s numbers as Adam’s.
Just thought I’d let you know so that people won’t be confused when the numbers come out next week.

It is on track to being a huge commercial success, but you’ve got the figure wrong. Billboard predicted between 200,000-230,000, which is huge (and about 3 times what the AI winner sold, for comparison). Boyle, who is apparently the new fruitcake, is predicted to sell 600,000.

Also the itunes Album contains two bonus tracks (Master Plan– a gay anthem and Down the Rabbit Hole) which are quite good and should have been included on the cd proper, imho.
There is a bonus track called Voodoo that will be with the international release.
And yeah Adam is set to sell at least 250,000 which would put him at number 2 or 3 on the charts.
Subo is expected to sell at least 600,000.
Anyways, I hope people buy Adam’s album at the store or on itunes.
He needs our support (if you like his type of music and think it is significant that he is a pop star that is openly gay from the start of his career).

I can’t stand Idol, and from all the hype about this dude I figured he’d be a douche. Huh, I guess I was wrong. He comes across really thoughtful in those interview clips, and actually kind of nice. So what the hell, I checked out the streaming album and damned if it’s not half bad. That Soaked song they talked about is like some wild cross between a Bond theme and a heartwrenching ballad, very over the top but gorgeous. There are some fun dance tracks, and then some songs that seem to be both rock and pop at the same time, strange combo but somehow it kind of works. I think this music could really grow on me.

Checked the Billboard charts, but actual figures for Adam’s sales won’t be out until next week. As mentioned above, it was projected to do 225,000, (very good) but I’m getting the impressions that the buzz is really helping a lot more than even those projections estimate. We’ll see.
Had to laugh, Adam is still knocking “gay media,” and, of course, he’s doing it on one of the more slipshod representatives of same, FAB. LOL Hopefully he’ll start reading some of the more serious gay writing now. It’s superior to straight stuff! LOL
He’s entering a new realm. He’s going to start being on equal terms with a whole new set of people. That can be a blessing and a curse. It can expand your mind, or it can reinforce your worst traits. $16.95 for the “deluxe” edition which includes two videos not otherwise available.
Amazon is getting $9.95 for the very same album. WTF?

The Queerty site seems to have been acting strangely over the weekend. On several occasions, when I tried to post a comment, I got the following message: “Error establishing a database connection”, yet I did not encounter this problem going to any of the other sites I normally go to.
In any event, I had wanted to thank you for clarifying my confusion about the price I paid for the Adam Lambert CD on iTunes. The breakdown that you gave me makes sense and sounds reasonable.
It was most kind of you to take the time to respond to my post and I very much appreciate it. I will enjoy the cd all the much more now that I am aware of the fact that what I paid for it at the iTunes store was commensurate with what it contained.
Truth be known, even if I had been overcharged, the cd would still have been worth it. It’s a great collection and I wish Mr. Lambert much success in his budding career.

It’s not visible in the playlist, you have to click on the “iTunes LP” track that came with it, then once your eyes adust to the colorful glittery interface heh, choose Videos.
It’s an extra 24 minute in-depth interview where Lambert talks mostly about the music and many of the individual songs. It’s surprisingly interesting. That kid can sure talk.

The Ellen transcript was somber and bleh for me but it had to be I suppose. The castration required to imprint the All American Boy image I suppose. The “upon reflection” without an outright apology. Ellen did stand firm on the double standard thing. The takeaways were ok. He needs to get appearances and radio spins to advance is the bottom line I think.
You can’t come out of American Idol where the public largely pretended his sexuality wasn’t apparent. He said he did the mic stand choreo during his Led Zep number and they kept the camera waist up.
It’s no different, really than all these so called straight men fantasizing about and actually having sex with men on the sly, IMO.

The CD sold on Amazon is not the deluxe-version and will not include any videos or extra songs. I have that CD so for those who downloaded the deluxe from itunes and think they got the same thing are wrong. The deluxe sounds fabulous because it includes video’s!
Hope someone puts them (videos) on youtube for all of us who pre-ordered the plain version of his CD without waiting for the deluxe.
His CD is really great and it’s gets in your head really quickly so, I hope his sales go well. I think the CD is stellar considering how they put this together in only 2 months or so.

Hi, Swarm! Think I just won’t watch Adam on Ellen. I figured he would have to do some soft pedaling, and I’m not particularly interested in watching that. What is apparent is that his album sales took off after the AMA’s, so hope Adam doesn’t get too panicky. LOL

The thing that confuses me is that lyrically, FYE was an Adam- specific double entendre TO THE OVERINVESTED FANS saying “Don’t be scared of the real me, come with me to the new music I love and you’ll realize how much fun you’ll have”.
He largely ignores that point in interviews and allows newcomers to assume it was all about just the sex angle. Kinda wierd and I’m assuming he made the conscience decision to sacrifice that point. Adam is smart and knows that a real icon is loved for their actual persona not for being an “actor”. ie Joplin, Freddie, Jim Morrison, Jagger etc. So he’s culling the herd but RCA needs to be able to smooth it over.
That’s the only rationale I can come up with for ignoring the “fan message” part of the genesis of that song since day one. And it’s no secret so RCA fully supported the more obvious AMA message. I think they expected the dancer’s face to be 12 inches further away during the performance and it’s as simple as that. eyeroll. He’s stipulated he pulled Tommy’s hair in rehearsal so again…whatever. For now he needs enough fans to tour and be himself without having to do stupid state fairs etc that all the other idols have to do. Gaga’s tour is a mini smaller venue tour so perhaps he’ll open for her next year similarly.

@ Swarm: His larger venues will be overseas, pretty sure, but he’ll have audiences here on his own. Actually, I think the days of the big arena shows are coming to an end except for special deals. I know people that have worked on big mega-tours. I don’t know that I would want to do that kind of schlep. Assbusting. I’d rather have more time to go shopping. LOL
For the most part, I think Adam’s career is going to be urban. In any case, I think the state fairs are kinda out for the time being. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Watched Ellen after all. Adam was sporting the look I like the best on him. Love that hair style so much. When he wears it straight back he tends to look hard. dunno.
The interview was pretty good. Not too much back-pedaling. It was implied that plenty of people were not offended. Ellen went to work for him, and I thought that was sweet. And, of course, he sounded great on the song.

So Lambert came in at no. 3 and sold 198k. Which is somewhat far from the 235k that was being tossed around. And MILES away from the erroneous 600k that Queerty reported and never corrected.
So gangbusters… not so much. Let’s rethink that one, folks. My comment is really about Queerty and their erroneous reporting.
Let’s see how Adam does in the next 3 weeks of sales. It’s definitely a respectable start. If he gets a big hit that’ll help too. I wonder how many fans he lost due the AMA fiasco. It does sound like he turned off a bunch of his bible belt fans. Which can hurt him. I’m hoping for him tho.

Love Adam from his audtion at Idol, watched every show just to see him perform and bought his CD on the day it was released. Love all the songs and him – he is amazing! Could care less if he is gay!I think his AMA performance was a little much because he included so many “acts” in a few minutes. Maybe that’s part of the uproar. Have watched his video “For Your ENtertainment” on the internet. WOW Yummy !!!! I hope and believe he will have a long career. Lookeing forward to much more.

2nd week. So, it’s still too early to judge. But again, gangbusters is ridiculous to say. He now has dropped from Three to 19 thanks to a 74 percent sales decline. Only selling 51,000 copies.
Maybe that’s respectable sales compared to other big names artists that are charting. But IDK. I’m guessing he might sell over a million (i’m being generous) unless he has a huge hit or two.
That’s too bad. Hopefully, it’ll turn around.

Adam Lambert is an icon. I have followed his career since Idol and the first time I saw him I thought that he resembled Elvis Presley. In fact, I think that his voice is better than Elvis’s.Adam has the same charisma that Elvis had and they are both tall.can make meaningful conversation, and no other male sings like them.I saw in Idol how Adam sang last or first in line.I imagine that it must be hard for a singer to sing before or after him because you tend to compare the voices and no one sings better than Adam.I imagine that some people are jealous of Adam’s ability to sing.Adam also gives you a show when he sings. He dances, moves around the stage and he is always perfectly dressed for a show.He did not win Idol and I felt that he had been robbed of his title. There was no better singer than Adam in Idol.I am a great fan of his and can’t wait until Adam makes movies.Adam is the best male singer at present. No one can imitate him and he does not pull people down.He is very nice to all.His new album will sell!
