Former “Fag Hag” Courtney Love Owes Her Success To Drag Queens

courtney-love-wallpaper_156589-1280x800Speaking recently to Gay Times magazine, Courtney love had plenty of love to bestow on the gays in her life, especially early on.

“When I was a kid I was definitely what you would call a fag hag because that’s how I learned to dress and be extrovert and walk into a room.”

Guess she didn’t hang out with the introverted, quiet gays. But that’s not much of a shock.

She also said that her “freshman year of learning how to be a rock star was just hanging around drag queens..”

It’s always nice to hear gays get the creative recognition that’s so often overlooked, even if it is from the sometimes mess that is Courtney Love. Luckily she doesn’t attribute that to her homos also.

This isn’t the first time she’s praised the gays, too. She previously told Vanity Fair“My homos — they stick by me through thick and thin,” and said to the Rainbow Times, “If I don’t have the gays, I just go nuts, because they always know every word and they’re the best core audience you can have.”

Well, we agree with you there.

Asked why she thinks she’s so popular in the gay community, she said it must have to do with, “surviving. It has to be. Surviving, and also the ability to do drag, to clean up nice. I might look like shit this morning, but you know, I clean up nice.”

Courtney love cleaning up nice? What ever you need to tell yourself gurr.

Why kick Courtney around when she’s being nice? Sure she’s a mess but she has many, many redeeming qualities and I think most people really don’t know much about her so they just make the easy jabs. It’s annoying.

This isn’t meant snarky but I wasn’t aware that Courntey Love was really popular among gays

@Cam: Go to any rock-n-roll/alterna-queer party at the Boiler Room in the East Village or the Vazaleen party in Toronto, and see what happens when the DJ puts on a Hole song like Violet, Miss World, or Rock Star. People totally lose their shit.

I’ve seen her live with “Hole” twice. Once years ago with the original line-up and once about a year & 1/2 ago with the new line-up. Both times she gave major shout-outs to “her gays”. At the most recent show I saw, a male stagehand crossed the stage & Courtney looked at her (male) guitarist & said: “You really want to fu*k that boy, don’t you?” and he smiled & nodded. Yeah, Courtney is definitely down with us.

Interesting, I had no idea. I mean I liked their CD’s enough, but never realized that she had that type of following.
