When Raviv Ullman was 17 in 2004, he nabbed the leading role in the Disney Channel show Phil of the Future.
Since then he’s added many TV gigs to his list of credits, but his latest artistic endeavor comes via Instagram.
The now-31-year-old actor teamed up with photographer Kaitlyn Mikala, donning dresses and makeup and striking sometimes-seductive poses.
All we have to say about this project is: yes.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Mikala wrote on IG:
Gender is a social construct; grateful for friends who are willing to help spread the message. major props to Ravid Ullman who proves you can slay a skirt and eyeliner no matter what. wardrobe of my dreams provided by @theallwatch.
Added Ullman:
“Cheers to the end of a year that worked harder than any other to deconstruct toxic masculinity and tear down the patriarchy. I’m so moved and excited by the representation I saw in the film and theater community, as well as the new political generation that’s already making waves. May we strive towards more inclusiveness, more acceptance, more love of our neighbors and more love of our selves.”

Gender is a biological construct. Gender role is a social construct.
Polaro
Yes.

I guess he has a cigarette fetish also. Shame if he does smoke they will kill him early. Also a shame he is making 14yo’s thing smoking is cool.
Greg
We don’t want to see him in dresses. We want to see him naked.
Diogenes
No the dress is fine. The undergarment ruins the translucent one though. Much better with none/jock strap.

My favorite is the first photo. He’s definitely nice to look at.
MarathonBoy
Sad and gross.

Social media likes to take cute phrases and run with them, not realizing how problematic that phrase is when it’s looked at critically. “Gender is a social construct” is one of those new phrases. Can someone’s sense of gender have some fluidity and/or contradictions? Yes. Do many people have both masculine and feminine instincts? Of course. But saying that gender is entirely attached to sociology undermines both biology and someone’s personal sense of self. It’s a phrase that’s offensive to trans people. It’s offensive to people to feel entirely cis gender and do abide by traditional gender roles. It’s offensive to homosexuals. It’s offensive to heterosexuals. It’s offensive to people who can only truly be in romantic love with and have relationship/emotional contentment towards a particular type of person. It’s just a very problematic phrase. But social media tends to take these hollow catchphrases and runs them into the ground until there’s a backlash.
For too many people it’s about jumping on bandwagons and wanting to seem accepting and “with it”. But their words offer no depth. They’re just reiterating a few things they heard some other people say or that they saw on someone’s Twitter. These guys are really out here thinking that wearing a dress or make-up in a photo shoot while living a hetero or “mostly hetero” romantic/sexual/relationship lifestyle is somehow this groundbreaking thing, and they often expect people to applaud them for it. How about we just support people being themselves without the cliched commentary, problematic catchphrases, photo shoots and anticipation of praise and controversy?

Starting the year off with a bang if I’m agreeing with one of donstons posts. As other people have said gender identity can be subject to change or shifting but gender itself cannot. Gender is written into your dna and can be flat out tested with an either A or B (or sometimes AB) result, but gender roles and gender behaviour and stuff like that is a social construct and is not anything concrete in biology. It’s great that people are finally becoming comfortable enough to experiment with their self expression to find something that fits them and defines them best but I agree with don that sometimes certain phrases can be overused or be unintentionally offensive to certain people or just flat out hit the ear wrong and the one used in this article is definitely one
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
People in this country need to plan and simple mind their own freaking business..…
Blackceo
So the typical sort of thing being pushed out by “mainstream” gays these days. He’s basic, has a jawline, White, and is feminine enough for you all to tolerate it. How interesting.
Raymundo
My only problem is that they didn’t add that on the show he was Ricky Ullman.
