The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau just announced a bold move: It’s upping its commitment to queer and transgender images in its latest marketing campaign.
The ads will appear in the New York Times’ T Magazine and USA Today Travel Magazine, among other print publications beginning this month.
“Using Trans models in our mainstream campaign says who we are as a destination; cosmopolitan, edgy, diverse, inclusive, authentic and accepting,” Richard Gray of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, said in a press release. “We are the only destination in the world that is using Trans people in mainstream marketing initiatives. That is a huge statement in itself highlighting this destination’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and equality. We want all travelers that visit our destination to be free to be themselves, to be free to be accepted, and most of all to be safe and respected.”
Gray was named winner of the inaugural GayCities Innovator Award for a previous campaign promoting Transgender travelers.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Here’s hoping Gray is starting another marketing trend.

Transexuals are mutilated gays and lesbians. I don’t care what others say but mutilating a man or woman to make them fake members of opposite sex is gay/lesbian. And gay/lesbian groups are apologists for Transexuals which is why the word T is there. They must abolish this surgical mutilation.
Finally, sex change maimings which is mutilating some1 to make them fake members of opposite sex is comparable to trying to make a man a fake animal because he thinks he is an animal trapped in a human body. Most feminists are not speaking against this. 1 would hope that feminists would oppose the mutilation that happened to Chastity Sun Bono as feminists have spoken against Female Genital Mutilation which happens in some nations. Transexuals are mutilations which no Dr. should take part in, yet most feminists are not condemning this female genital and breast mutilation as what happened to Chastity S. Bono where her healthy breasts were mutilated, dangerous hormone shots and her genitals mutilated.

@abnerb: Your comment here is the most well-crafted treatise on ignorance I’ve seen in a while. Maybe you should educate yourself on the subject of gender dysphoria before passing harsh judgement upon our trans brothers and sisters…eh?

@abnerb: While I generally agree with your comment, it is incorrect to describe transgenders as gay and lesbian. Transgenders can have any sexual orientation and most are straight. That is one reason why “LGBT” makes no sense, except as a tool of hegemony and control by trans activists over LGB people. Some examples of hetero transgenders:
– The trans activist who murdered a lesbian family in November (a horrific crime which got zero coverage on Queerty) is a male attracted to females.
– Another transgender who attacked 2 people with an ax earlier this week is the same. (That crime got zero coverage on Queerty as well.)
– Trans activist Robert Kosilek, who killed his wife and then demanded that the prison pay for transitioning surgery, is hetero.
– Skylar DeLeon, who brutally killed a husband and wife for their yacht, which he was going to sell to pay for transitioning surgery, is hetero. He used his wife and son to help commit the crime.
– There are numerous stories on Queerty about trans couples, where the man transitioned to a woman and the woman transition to a man. Both partners are hetero.
– “Stefonknee” Wolschtt the 52-year old man who identifies as a 6-year old girl is a heterosexual male with a wife and many children.

@abnerb: Your pain runs deep, but it won’t be quelled by these means. You will have to deal with your sexual abuse issues, most likely violent rape as a child, in a professional manner to get relief, whether you are conscious of it or not. You have a long haul to reach your love zone again. Good luck.

Tell it to your therapist, you obviously are suffering from sex abuse yourself or you wouldn’t be so condemning and upset. Go get help, you’ll get better with a few years under your belt.

It’s OK cupcake, you can overcome your obsessive compulsive disorders. But the first step is that phone call. That’s your ticket to freedom. Now go ahead, you can do it. ?
