27-year-old French actor Gaspard Ulliel has been cast to play a young Yves Saint Laurent in an upcoming biopic covering the late designer’s early career.
Chronicling the launch of YSL’s eponymous fashion house, the as yet untitled film will be directed by Betrand Bonello.
Ulliel was chosen after a reportedly “huge audition” process, but according to the Telegraph, the film has not been approved by Saint Laurent’s partner for over 50 years, Pierre Bergé.
Bergé has, however, given the thumbs up to another biopic directed by French filmmaker Jalil Lespert that will focus on his and Saint Laurent’s romantic relationship.
How about we take this to the next level?

Sooo the film has not been approved for over 50 years? Sorry, bad grammar distracted me from this, otherwise, riveting story.

This brings back how much I used to crush on him even when he was playing Hannibal

I loved him in “A Very Long Engagement” and think he will do well in this role.
