Details magazine didn’t just ask this question. These interviews are done with the publicist knowing what reporters intend to ask in advance and said publicists often “suggest” questions and topics about their clients for the best possible PR punch. If you think Gavin was just cornered with that question, you are mistaken. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen ever, but it is a rarity–ESPECIALLY when it involves “alternate” sexuality.
The good news in all this is that this revelation isn’t seen as a problem or a scandal…just an admission to seem “candid.” Which is fine by me. Go Gavin.

The music industry is one of the most retrograde, homophobic industries around. It’s probably only second to the religious Right in terms of its homophobia. It’s an industry that is entirely based on the marketing of male heterosexual fantasy. Under this scenario, you only get a pass if you’re a completely straight male or a straight or bisexual female.
It’s like the rules of male-female porn. The men must be strictly straight but the women are allowed to dabble with other women so long as they’re doing it for the benefit of the men.
Male musical performers who did camp (like Bowie, Prince, Gene Simmons etc) were just that, camp. Camp is merely performance on an androgynous level. It doesn’t mean the performer is gay or bisexual. Even Bowie denied saying that he was bisexual.

There was an issue of Scientific American Mind back I think in 2009 that was devoted completely to sex and sexuality, and a lot of that was centered on same-sex attraction and acts (because obviously, those were more “mysterious” in terms of function, since they don’t on the fact of it seem to lend themselves to reproduction and thus seem odd).
In this issue, some very interesting inferences were made about human sexuality in particular; namely, that ALMOST NO ONE is strictly, dramatically one orientation or the other.
A tiny minority of us are a six on the Kinsey Scale (completely homosexual), an equally tiny minority of us are a one on the Kinsey Scale (completely heterosexual), but owing to the bonobo in us all, the vast majority of us don’t start out as one or the other; the way we end up in terms of orientation is largely a combination of culture and life experience.
Also, I’ve tried straight relationships and they never work out on the physical level. Does this mean I’m “in that club forever”? Because by your logic, it would, and I’d be like totally not gay anymore.

I think jason is right. The west claims it is a champ of women rights and gender equality when actualy what they fight for is the right to objectify women and so market their movies and products to men such as in fashion where the more skin a women shows and the more make up she wears and wear high heels the better and the more comfortable and covered a man is the better.
