Earlier this week, an Australian man had his penis bitten half-off after trying to ram it down another man’s throat. Now, a guy in Ireland has been jailed for one year for humping a sleeping straight dude.
Iain Fisher is a 23-year-old flight attendant who works for Ryanair, a budget airline based out of Dublin. He was out at a bar with a couple of his co-workers when they met the 22-year-old heterosexual man and invited him to join them at a nearby house party. Little did that man know, he would soon be the victim of an alcohol-induced rape.
At the party, the 20-somethings continued drinking into the wee hours of the morning. At 4:30 a.m., all four of them — Fisher, his two co-workers, and the man — crashed in bed together, fully clothed. At some point, Fischer and his two co-workers got up and went into the other room, leaving the sleeping straight man by himself.
“The three discussed how to get the victim to leave,” Fisher’s lawyer told the court.
Not wanting to get back in bed with the victim, Fisher’s co-workers fell asleep on the sofa in the living room. Fischer returned to the bedroom.
At 6:30 a.m., the straight man awoke to find the 23-year-old flight attendant performing a “sex act” on him. Upon being caught, Fischer broke out into a fit of hysterical laughter. Meanwhile, the victim pulled up his pants bolted out of the house in tears.
Fisher, who admitted the assault earlier this month, said he thought maybe the act had been consensual, despite the fact his victim was asleep. The court, however, disagreed. Fisher was given one year in jail and put on the sex offenders’ register. He will also lose his job at Ryanair.
“This is a source of considerable shame to him,” his lawyer said. “This is a catastrophe for all concerned.”
“The best explanation I can give is he got carried away.”

I don’t understand why his being a flight attendant is referenced so many times in this article; or for that matter why it is worth mentioning the company he works for. Absolutely none of that is relevant to the charges against him .
The charges against him related to something he did in private; not while he was at work.

Sounds like a homophobic court system to me.

I don’t think it’s fair that “He will also lose him job at Ryanair” him should keep job.

@Black Pegasus: I dont understand how it would be homophobic. The ruling seems correct and appropriate. He sexually assaulted someone, therefore there is a punishment.

Jeez, if a straight male had done this to a passed out female, we’d all be screaming for castration! The court is NOT homophobic, and the company is fully within its rights to fire him. I agree with Kieru that his job is of little matter in a story regarding forced sex, but it does titillate the straight readers regarding ‘those perverts’!

If there was no consent, it’s assault, period. Unfortunately, liquor got involved into the equation and clouded his sense of judgement. But that’s no excuse.
Kieru
@ethan_hines: You may have missed the part in the article where they discuss that he did this to his co-workers. It’s no wonder he lost his job over it. He cannot exactly return to work and interact professionally with people he’s been accused of sexually assaulting.

@ethan_hines: Ryanair is great at screwing passengers so I’m surprised they fired him!

Did he penetrate the guy or was he dry humping him while they were both clothed? If it’s the former then the punishment he received seems just. If it’s the latter, the punishment is excessive. The story says he was “performing a sex act” on the guy. What was that alleged act?

A year in jail for “humping”, really? If everyone here were straight it would have been a frat joke that might have appeared on Tosh.0, but because he’s gay he gets a year in jail?

@Kieru: Please reread the article yourself. The victim was NOT a co-worker, but a random stranger they met in a bar.

Okay on one thread we’ve got a bunch of defectives finding excuses for molesting a gay minor – so I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that on this one there are those who find an unconscious heterosexual man fair game.
NateOcean
Come on. Who hasn’t this happened to?

@Gigi Gee: my guess is that he was sucking the guys dick.
@Saint Law, what “those” it’s one guy, Black Pegasus

@Saint Law: They make decaf coffee now, you should try it.

There was a straight porn star named “Jack Venice”. You can Google him and read his story but the short version is he was working on a “sorority” gonzo porn reality thing, and he drunkenly broke into a real sorority and took photos of himself lying in bed to an unsuspecting sleeping college girl with his penis exposed. No penetration, no violence. He went to prison FOR LIFE.

@Snapper59, that’s absolutely disproportionate. Perfect example of U.S. judicial overkill.
Ridpathos
I don’t know what the sex act was, but I think this was a stupid 20-year old prank. It sounds like something straight guys do to each other at frat parties, and then film it and put it on Youtube. But I could be wrong. If only I know what the sex act was.
Still assault though.

It is very abnormal to try to have sex with a person who is (a) dead, (b) asleep, (c) being held captive, or (d) defenseless. Straight or gay, whoever attempts to have sex this way has serious issues.

@Black Pegasus:
Are you joking? He assaulted the straight man by humping him while he was asleep! If it had been a woman who was humped by a straight man while sleeping, she’d say she was assaulted or even raped.
I swear you’re not better than the people you call homophobic! It seems like all you have to hear is that someone is gay and suddenly, they’re the victim. How would you feel if a gay guy was assaulted by a straight guy and suddenly, the straight guy is the victim.
Look past your bias for a moment. Someone had something sexual done to them that they didn’t ask for!

@Snapper59: Amazing.
I'm Black, and HiV-positive.
Three guys (co-workers) meet a stranger in a bar, and invite him home for drinks, and the stranger went home with them, and didn’t think sex was involved? Wow! He falls asleep in a bed (with all three of them no less), and doesn’t “wake up” until the “sex” begins, and by then he’s angry. Now that’s what I call some serious party foul. This is gonna sound crass, but maybe they should have offered him some money then. I don’t know how Ireland works, but at best the stranger somehow knew he was definitely playing them the right way.

Leave straight guys alone. I like straight guys too. But I have enough respect to let them come to me.
