Among the many seeming holes in the biography of openly gay Congressman-elect George Santos (R-NY) is a wife that he apparently didn’t mention during his campaign.
This week, the New York Times reported the many gaps in Santos’ life story. For instance, he said he graduated from Baruch College, attended New York University, and worked for Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. But none of those institutions have any record of his ever doing so.
He also claimed to have founded a charity called Friends of Pets, but neither the IRS, nor the New York nor New Jersey attorney general’s offices have records of its existence. He also claimed to have lost four employees in the 2016 Pulse Nightclub shooting, but the Times found that none of the shooting’s 49 victims seemed to be associated with any of his businesses.
When the Times‘ report emerged just a few days ago, Santos’ lawyer said the publication’s “shotgun blast of attacks” were “attempting to smear his good name with these defamatory allegations.”
“George Santos represents the kind of progress that the Left is so threatened by – a gay, Latino, first-generation American and republican who won a Biden district in overwhelming fashion by showing everyday voters that there is a better option than the broken promises and failed policies of the Democratic Party,” the statement said.
Oddly, however, the statement didn’t deny any of the Times‘ findings. It also contained a quote falsely attributed to Winston Churchill — weeeeeiiiiiiird.

Santos made history as the first openly gay non-incumbent Republican candidate elected to Congress, even though he opposes LGBTQ+ equality and supports Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law. His 2022 campaign bio mentions that he and his husband live in Long Island.
In fact, in an October USA Today interview, Santos said, “I am openly gay, have never had an issue with my sexual identity in the past decade, and I can tell you and assure you, I will always be an advocate for LGBTQ folks.”
However, court documents obtained by The Daily Beast show that a man named “George A. Devolder Santos” finalized a divorce with a woman named Uadla Santos Vieira Santos just 12 days before the politician filed the paperwork for his failed 2020 congressional campaign.
The publication believes it may be him since his middle name is Anthony, his mother’s last name is Devolder, his campaign’s official name is “Devolder Santos for Congress,” and there only appears to be one other person in the U.S. with that name.
But it doesn’t stop there.
Talking Points Memo also revealed that Santos is listed as the “registered agent” for his company, Devolder Organization LLC, in Florida. State law says registering as such an agent is tantamount to declaring residence in the state.
That would mean the congressman-elect for a seat in the state of New York… is actually a resident of the state of Florida???
On Thursday, Santos published a tweet saying, “I have my story to tell and it will be told next week. I want to assure everyone that I will address your questions and that I remain committed to deliver the results I campaigned on.”
Get your popcorn, because it’s probably going to be quite a tale!
To the people of #NY03 I have my story to tell and it will be told next week. I want to assure everyone that I will address your questions and that I remain committed to deliver the results I campaigned on; Public safety, Inflation, Education & more.
Happy Holidays to all!

Someone needs to ask him his fav brand of lube. If he hesitates, then we know…
abfab
He smells like Marco Rubio.
Lovebug69
That’s it. I couldn’t figure who he reminds me of. We can also s thank trump for encouraging lying to get what you want
scotty
secret wife, secret life. you get the government you deserve.
Lovebug69
Can he be recalled ?
Richpontone
So he Tweeted that he was fighting for Public Safety, Education and against Inflation. Thank God, he didn’t say he was fighting for Truth, Honesty and Integrity.
You have to be Comatose to believe Santos.
Kangol2
Uh, he’s got more than a “secret wife” that’s a problem.
He lied about being Jewish.
He lied about being of Ukrainian descent.
He lied about his relatives surviving the Holocaust.
He lied about his college degrees.
He lied about his charity.
He lied about his businesses.
He lied about his employees dying the Pulse massacre.
He lied about his mother surviving 9/11 while being in the South Tower of the WTC.
He was linked to a company that was called a Ponzi scheme before it dissolved.
He took money from the cousin of a Russian oligarch linked to Putin.
He couldn’t even be found at the Queens, NY address in his district that he listed to vote.
He committed a felony (or felonies) in Brazil but skipped out on prosecution and may be a fugitive from justice there.
There’s a lot more that’s fishy about him.
Who is he and why is nearly everything he’s said about himself a complete lie?
smittoons
The complete lack of competent opposition research into this guy (twice!) encapsulates how badly the Democrats screwed up in New York elections. Santos is the worst and most incredible example, but there were enough close races in the state to have saved the Dems’ majority.
Toofie
It’s mind boggling this is coming out after the election. If anyone did a light check these would’ve started popping up.
NateOcean
They say, “it takes a dozen lies to cover up one”.
But in Santos case, he appears to lie constantly, perhaps for enjoyment, or as if to keep his “lying muscles” toned.
Kangol2
@Smittoons and Toofie, I hear you, but the reality is that a right-leaning Long Island newspaper actually unmasked the liar Santos, some local Republicans called him “Scam-tos,” and his Democratic opponent Zimmerman also called attention to some of his lies, and they were completely drowned out. That conservative local paper even wrote a harsh article the other day about how they’d told the truth about him only to be ignored. So the oppo research did happen, but the “liberal” mainstream (New York Times, looking at you!) media’s clamor for Lee Zeldin, endless proclamations of a “red wave,” and attacks on the Democrats buoyed Santos, and now he’ll probably be in there for two years, aiding and abetting who knows what, since no one still knows where all his newfound money keeps coming from!
still_onthemark
Since he’s lying about everything else, I hope he’s lying about being gay! But that opens another can of worms.
bachy
The whole scenario is very WTF.

Trump and Hillary paved the way for lies to become accepted as “alternative facts” – except they aren’t facts. When your chosen media outlet promotes such nonsense, they are just playing identity politics.
Sorry to bring Hillary into the subject; but, she advanced the nonsense BIGTIME. Russia did not “hack” the DNC or the election. But it became apparent that she wanted to cover-up what was in the released DNC emails. By blaming everyone but herself for the loss, she pulled a tRump.
And to the extremists who will attack, know that truth SHOULD always be more important than lies. Scientists agreed that the data most likely walked out of the DNC on a flashdrive. Current technology within the FBI, NSA and CIA can not replicate the HUGE download at the speed required for that volume of data.
Let’s stick with scientific truths, not propaganda, excuses and lies. Propaganda is manipulation. Trump and his loyal following know that they are punking Democratic voters; but, so are Democratic politicians. Or did they pass voting rights laws, insider ethic’s laws, cuts to outrageous military spending, Healthcare for all, or ANY form of student loan forgiveness? Seems our politicians make promises but have yet to codify (abortion) rights into law. Even when Democratic leaders watched the Supreme Court become politicized – they didn’t lift a finger to stop it. Republicans cheated twice and the Democratic leaders remained frozen – acting like victims when they had all the power – Senate, House and Presidency. Republican voters in Kansans took more action to stop abortion than the Democrats! Action, not words, should be how we measure our Republican-light Democratic party, It might be time for us to demand that they do more than just make promises.
seadrian
Give it a rest. Bernie is NEVER going to happen.

Isn’t it time to require all candidates to undergo full field background investigation by the FBI? As a former government employee in a sensitive position , I underwent one every five years. In this case we have an individual who may have access to highly classified information and no background investigation is done.
Raybee
Excellent comment. Thanks!
Mack
He’s a habitual liar which makes him the perfect Republican. I doubt if he’s even gay.
Peter
How is it the worst of humanity continues to be elected to Congress? Why didn’t all these truths about him come out before the election? Are people that braindead, heartless, gullible to keep voting these guys into office? I don’t care if he is gay; he’s a POS and should be flushed out of Congress by the Ethics Committee.
