Three things in this life are certain: death, taxes, and male pattern baldness. And in case Dwayne Johnson and Boris Kodjoe aren’t proof enough that baldness is sexy, gay and bi Reddit users have been giving their takes.

“I’m 25, and my crown is beginning to thin,” a Redditor wrote in a recent thread. “It’s happening very slowly for me, so I’m adjusting. … I know so many guys with little hair or bald on their head who are hot as hell. You know, I’ve even hooked up with some of them. It’s soooo much more about confidence. It’s totally possible to look nice with the hair situation you have. … I don’t know when it’ll happen to me, but it probably will. And you know what? My dog loves me just as much, I’m still just as good a worker and student, and I’m still sexy as hell to a lot of guys. I can grow a mean beard — I wouldn’t fuck that up for the world.”
He concluded:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“Remember, hair loss isn’t up to you, but how you deal with it is. …. You’re probably sexy as hell to a lot of people out there, hair, no hair, or somewhere in between.”
Commenters on the thread were quick to agree. “Thinking back, all of the men I have been physically involved with have had thinning hair or are bald,” one observed. “I guess I have a type, and I think there are a lot of us out there. Don’t spend two minutes worrying about it.”
Another said that he discovered his “hole-in-the-ozone-layer” bald patch last year. “I freaked… and did the only thing I could think of: I shaved it all off,” he wrote. “Now I’m bald, goatee-bearded and could not love it more. There were jokes, of course: I do kind of resemble Ming the Merciless if I arch my eyebrows right. But I also received a ton of compliments.”

“I think bald/balding men are hot!” a different commenter wrote. “And I’m definitively not the only one.”
And then there’s this gem of a comment: “My hair doesn’t look that great anyway so I’m fine with balding.”
So take heart, bald and balding men: To a lot of guys, your chrome dome is a huge selling point!

I started losing my hair at 19. This was the 70’s when hair was everything to men in general, let alone gay men. When I was 28 I shaved my head. That was very radicle for 1980. I looked good with a shaved head and had guys in leather always hitting on me, top and bottom (this was San Francisco). A lot of people were scared of me in 1980 though. Let it grow back at age 67. Now I have to pay for haircuts.

It’s great if bald looks good on you. But it doesn’t for all men. You have to have the right-shaped head, and not everyone does.
Max
agreed.

Yes, but that’s when you use the beard. Guys with the right-shaped head will look great with or without it, but guys that were not so luck, can use the beard to “balance” that. It will draw the attention away from the head and can make your face look more rounded, elongated, thin, large… It will only be a problem if you have a weird head shape, don’t have hair and can’t grow a beard.

If you’re a good-looking guy it really doesn’t matter how much hair you’ve got. What’s more, studies show that a guy with a crew cut automatically appear more masculine and dominant to others than a male with a full head of hair.

Hadn’t seen my older Brother for like a year. He walked in lost most of his hair. I ran out upstairs and got a mirror to look at my crown. Saw the beginning of thinning!! Ran out and took a minoxiol shower!!!
Been using for over 20 years. It doesn’t so much grow a lot of hair back. But regular use stops
any further loss pretty much immediately and your hair stays exactly at the point you started usage at. You can get generic 3 month supply at Target for less than $20
If you ever want a good takeaway from this sometimes maddening site, take my advice. I promise 20 years from now you’ll be thanking Plays Well with a somewhat full head of hair….
Raphael
It’s an option, but only if you actually plan to use it daily for as long as you want to prevent hair loss. If you stop, you’ll lose all the hair you “saved”, and fast! Also, it doesn’t work “immediately”, it takes months to see the results. Honestly, it’s not for everybody. In my opinion, those “alternative solutions” are not worth in the long run, it gets tiring… I tried when I was in my early 20s, couldn’t keep up with the daily routine. Fortunately, my hair loss didn’t get too bad. I’m now in my early 30s, and my crown is a little thin, but nothing really visible… I think I can reach my 40s with a good amount of hair left, so I’m happy.

Raphael: Did you even bother to read and understand my post prior to replying??? I was quite clear it doesn’t do a whole lot to regrow lost follicles. What it DOES do “immediately” is stop any further hair loss rather immediately. And if you again would have read I said have been using for over 20 years, meaning you must continue to use to maintain status quo….

If you have a balding crown as I did, Propecia tablets are the answer. It will fill back in within weeks, then you have to stay taking the drug 3x week. It doesn’t do anything for other parts of the head. Just the crown. There is a generic drug called Finasteride, same results same thing, much cheaper. You need a prescription for both. If you stop takin it you will lose your hair on the crown that you’ve gained back. The amazing thing is, is that when you start taking it again the hair all comes back. Great stuff.

Plays Well: I should be the one asking… Did you even bother to read and understand my post prior to replying??? The only thing I disagree, is that it works “immediately”, which DOES NOT! The rest, I only reiterated, and shared my experience. That’s all!

I was thinning by the time I was 19. When I was around 40 I just went ahead and got it buzzed off, have never looked back. I have a good shape head for a shaved head. Haven’t owned a comb, brush, or purchased shampoo & conditioner since, and I can roll the windows down in the car anytime and not worry about a thing! I love it!
