A Santa Monica man says he was the victim of a violent antigay attack shortly after Trump was elected on Tuesday night.
Chris Ball was hanging out at a bar in Santa Monica watching the election results when he started being heckled. As the evening wore on, tensions flared up between Clinton and Trump supporters.
“People started launching homophobic slurs at me from afar,” he tells Calgary Metro. “I mean, I kind of got into it, but I didn’t want to provoke them.”

Ball says people were yelling homophobic slurs and saying things like “We got a new president you fucking faggots.”
As he was leaving the bar that evening, a group of men approached him in the alley and smashed a bottle over his head. Ball fell backwards, hitting his head against the pavement and blacking out.
“When I came to, I remember waking up and wiping the blood from my eyes. I called some friends, they picked me up and I went right to the hospital,” he recalls.

His wounds required five staples to his head.
K.C. MacPherson, a friend of Ball, shared the horrific images of Chris bleeding on Facebook. In the post, he wrote: “This hatred, bigotry, and senseless violence all comes from the same part of America that voted in a demagogue who spits hatred as his rhetoric.”
Later, Chris posted his own update on Facebook: “Thank you everyone for the support and good vibes. Just wanted to say I’m alive and well. And still very gay.”

I’ve learned to not believe everything I read or even see on the internet. I believe this is fake. Why? It doesn’t make sense to me, his decisions were not logical.
First he goes to a bar to watch the elections, alone. Then, “Trump Supporters” start throwing slurs at him from afar. If he was there alone, how did they know he was gay from afar?
Then, despite the obvious tension he decides to go into the alley alone, and got attacked by a group of guys. Where are his survival instincts? Probably should have left sooner or safer.
Then, even though he was knocked out, there is SO MUCH blood running down his shirt. He was knocked out, lying down I assume, which means the blood would not be running down his face onto his shirt. Even if he was standing up, speaking from experience you tend to hold your face out or forward so you don’t drip blood on yourself.
Questionable decisions. Too much blood. Blood looks like it may have been applied. He even looks happy in the pictures, not at all what he would feel after being insulted and beaten. And with an anecdotal comment from one guy here saying he’s a Film Producer to boot, I feel like he did this to himself to paint Trump supporters in a worse light. That’s fucking shameful.

I just wonder if there’s more to this story than what we’re being told. We’re relying on the victim’s comments but there needs to be further inquiry.
Why wasn’t this crime reported to police? It might have been but I can’t see it from reading the article.

@joeyty: I’m having a hard time believing it, myself. Had it happened the way he claimed, why is there no blood in his hair? If he fell backwards and blacked out (which is not the same as passing out), then there’d be more blood in his hair, and on the back of his neck than on his face and shirt. Why not show us the back of his head where it hit the pavement? There are way too many people looking to cash in on fear mongering, and there is no low people aren’t willing to go in the age of victimhood.
