There’s more trouble in Senator Barack Obama‘s campaign. Just days after Samantha Power’s ‘monster’ resignation, LGBT Council member Maxim Thorne has stepped down after sending an email blasting Hillary Clinton‘s 3am rhetoric and revisiting some past scandals:
At 3am, Hillary said she and Bill were in bed and she knows of all the calls a President gets at different times of the day and night. Really? So much involvement – so much togetherness. Where was she when Monica was having sex with Bill?
…
When Bin Laden was building Al Qaeda, Bill and she were fighting impeachment, fighting Paula Jones, fighting Katherine Wiley. Please, we are going down a nasty road with a nasty, secretive and proven lying Clinton.
Politico reports that Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor distanced the candidate from Thorne, saying, “These comments have no place in this campaign.” And now neither does Thorne.
Read the entire email, after the jump. Oh, and preemptive [sic].

Subject: Clinton lies and sleaze
Hillary Clinton is a disaster for the democratic party. Now she prefers McCain to Obama. Now we know it was SHE who told the Canadian government that her railings against NAFTA were political posturing. It was not Barack’s campaign!
We cannot tolerate her lies and stolen election.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Time for all of us democratics to wake up to this disgusting turn. As democratics this should affirm the end of her campaign.
At 3am, Hillary said she and Bill were in bed and she knows of all the calls a President gets at different times of the day and night. Really? So much involvement – so much togetherness. Where was she when Monica was having sex with Bill? 35 years of experience? When he was intimidating Katherine Wiley and Paula Jones? Where was the judgment on the cattle futures and white water. Do we forget Mark and Denise Rich? This was an impeached President who lost his licence to practice law. He committed perjury. They settled with Paula Jones for the full amount of her lawsuit. I haven’t forgotten and none of us should.
I remember the scandal when the Clintons’ bags were searched when they left the White House and they had to return historic artifacts and gifts.
When Bin Laden was building Al Qaeda, Bill and she were fighting impeachment, fighting Paula Jones, fighting Katherine Wiley.
Please, we are going down a nasty road with a nasty, secretive and proven lying Clinton. We should all want to see her tax returns, I want to see her White House emails. Let really send this candidate what she deserves: the spotlight on her vetting. She says she’s been vetted. Partly true and it’s not pretty what came out.
What still has to be vetted are her tax returns, her White House performance (we already know her disasterous failure on healthcare), her WH emails, the donations to the Clinton Foundation and library etc.
Time to moveon again. Obama is the only credible candidate who can move on beyond this continuing nasty dynasty of Clinton and Bushes.
ChristopherM
While it is counterproductive to Democratic goals in the fall, I have to say I agree with him. It seems like it is just a matter of time before we get ANOTHER Clinton scandal popping up.

Gee, where’s the “hope,” the “different kind of politics,” the airy-fairy lightness of the Obama Zombies?
TOO LATE to distance Barack from the giant herds of Obamoonies HE created as evidenced recently in Will.i.am’s second, chilling music video in which they chant his name like some fucking incantation. WHY hasn’t he stopped it before—because he LUVS the blind adulation and all the psychotic nonsense about crowds applauding even when he sneezes; women fainting. He’s not running to be President…he’s running to be Elvis.
He only tried to call the Swift Boat of the Clintons as racists back to the dock after it had already done its damage. He promised to call out any of his supporters who demonized Sen. Clinton but it’s still going on. Why isn’t it now proactive rather than reactive AFTER one of them does one of these things.
If he can’t control his own campaign how are we supposed to believe he can control the White House and the country?
todd
He has a point.

On balance his ranting email amounted to saying that Hillary Clinton is merely an extension of Bill Clinton since Bill’s transgressions are the ones he mentions. Lest we forget, nothing came of the long, expensive Whitewater investigation although the Clintons did lose money on the investment. The innuendo about the cattle futures was not something that came to much as a matter of fact. As for Monica Lewinsky, that was Bill’s not Hillary’s. Thorpe states “they” settled with Paula Jones. I wasn’t aware her lawsuit was against Hillary Clinton.
I was willing to overlook a lot with both candidates to vote for the Democrat in November even though my first and second choices withdrew from the race, but these cheap shots discourage me. Calling the Clinton’s racist because someone dared point out the obvious (Obama wasn’t in a position to vote on Iraq) was racist in its own fashion. Does that mean a black candidate is beyond criticism when running against a white candidate?
I don’t get it. What is so goddamn wonderful about Obama? His positions and proposed policies are almost identical to Hillary’s. His speeches are pretty words, but not much else. Words are cheap. This adulation even from my spouse just puzzles me.
Bitch Republic
Great points, Leomoore! I don’t get all the praise for Obama, either. I was listening to NPR the other day and someone said that if it were a woman who had only 8 years in the state legislature and was in her first term in the U.S. Senate, she wouldn’t get as far as Obama has in running for president. He just doesn’t have enough experience to be president.

Leo, do you think that if some scandal involving one of the 6 or 7 figure secret donations to the Clinton Library comes out during the general election that it won’t torpedo her? That’s the nature of being a political couple that has sold themselves as a 2-for-1. Those secret donors make me nervous.
And no one called them racists because they called out his lack of position to vote on Iraq. Folks have called them out as race-baiting because of the campaign using surrogates to constantly try and marginalize Obama as “the black candidate.” And they’re still doing it if you read the claptrap that Geraldine Ferraro put out there this week that Obama is only where he is because he’s black. Anyone with any sense knows that isn’t true…he’d be the official nominee by now if he were a white guy!
M Shane
I don’ t know about this guy, but the Sam Powers “monster issue was just a bunch of cow manure. Anuyone with a sense for overstatement or hyperbole would know that that ius what was going on. Even while Powers, a Pulitzer prize winner, was jokingly refering to Clintons behavior; Hillary came around and in the meanest possible way said that Powers looked like the Loch Ness Monster. Just demonstrateing how seriously crude and mean spirited she is. I can’t say that Obama was any smarter letting her resign, but if Hillary hadn’t been such a pain in the ass, it could have just gone by.
afrolito
Obama is so full of shit, and his looney Obamanuts will slowly destroy him before he knows what hit him.
Check out the NY Times article on Obama over the weekend. Very enlightening.
leomoore
ChristopherM, it might torpedo her, but it is just as possible Obama has skeletons waiting to be pulled out of the closet. He has never faced the national Republican hit squads who are an evil lot.
Let’s say he wins the nomination. Will the very large number of Clinton supporters be inclined to support him with enthusiasm or will they sit it out. If she wins, do you think she will receive all the votes he has behind him. The passions are evident even here on this blog. Those who love one seem to really hate the other, now. If you think McCain is no threat at all, then you won’t care, but I think he is likely to win the general election. Obama supporters think Hillary Clinton is a racist or a right bitch or both. Hillary supporters are hardening in the position that Obama is all talk and no substance and resent the assertion that every criticism of Obama is racially motivated.
Isn’t it just as racist for black Obama supporters to attack other blacks who support Hillary Clinton even though Barack is as white as he is black. Isn’t it sexism for women to make statements that Clinton is the better candidate because she’s a woman. Using that logic, one would never elect a black man since black rulers in Africa have mostly been vicious dictators even when elected. By the way, the ones who think a woman would be better obviously haven’t read their history since female rulers have gone to war even preemptively many, many times, and Margaret Thatcher was called the Iron Lady derogatorily because of her moves to cut social benefits in England.

Sorry Maxim.
Where is the damn fighting back at LYING PIGS who darkened and broadened Obama’s face, and dismissively call him a “lucky Black man”

Leo, I actually don’t think it is just as possible he has such skeletons in his closet. Might he have a skeleton or two? Sure, most people do. Is it as likely that he has skeletons as compared to the Clintons? Not given their history. I mean, it is one thing after another with those two.
I don’t think she is a racist. I think her campaign has used some highly questionable tactics where race is concerned. And I will vote for her in the fall if she pulls off a miracle and snags the nomination…the court appointees are too important for us not to vote for either one of them. But I just have this eerie feeling that yet another Clinton scandal is going to break before this is all over.

If Obama is our nominee, I will hold my nose and vote Nader or McCain or stay home. I refuse to be a Moonie.

Obama is a full of shit. Hilary is a full of shit.Either of them I shall not vote for them.Their brians like “Spint Bottom” right now.

AMERICAN DEMOCRACY: I Have a Dream Ticket: Clinton-Obama 2008! The problem with some people attracted to political campaigns 1/ Way too many generation Whiners (Y) who have too much control with little experience 2/ Crazy chemically-imbalanced (the WB Frog guy always seen in Obama’s podium speeches) people are always attracted to extreme beliefs be it Politics, Religion or Reality TV and 3/ Calling Democrats (that’s US, right?) “democratics” shows lack of political understanding beyond “American Idol” politicking. I HAD a Dream! The Democrats detroyed it! If Obama loses to McCain, it will be forever before an African-American Democrat is elected, or a woman and we will get just another old white man reaching for his Jelly-beans and accidently pressing the Missile Launch Option Button.
goldend
I feel for you guys because no matter who wins a lot of you gonna feel screwed and hate divides a country.
ChristopherM
Seitan, are you implying that most young people aren’t smart enough/experienced enough to make an intelligent decision regarding elections? I can’t imagine why more young people don’t vote!
M Shane
I’m convinced that most of these people flaming the other side is on the republican payrole; Just being devisive. So studid too.
The oldest trick in the book DIVIDE AND CONQUER; either they are just really stupid or they work for the republicans. I know that the later is being done. their is no other reason but mentall illness for such intense hatred.
rickroberts
ChristopherM, if Seitan isn’t implying it, then I will. You all will get bored with him as soon as the next glitz and sizzle new-fangled MySpace-Facebook whatever comes along.
ChristopherM
Way to build the party, Rick…tell any potential new voters that they aren’t smart enough to decide for themselves. That’s a good strategy. No wonder Clinton didn’t win a single demographic under the age of 50 in Texas.
FYI, I’m 34, which isn’t old, but is hardly young either. And I’m smart enough to know that if I get lied to enough and thrown under the bus enough by two families, that it is time to stop voting for them.
M Shane
It’s really clear that if anybody doesn’t know the the last 50 yrears history of the U,S. Corporate &CIA interventions in causing deaths overthtrows, dictatorships in So America (all of it) and around the world they have no business voting or saying anything. Given the lousey deformed educatioin of young people and the deception of government to older people, hardly anyone is qualified to vote. In many places now and in the U.S. a while ago younger peole used to be activists. Now people are so apathetic with being lied to by the media and B.S’d by politicians that they are apathetic. I know people who jusyt got out of college who know some things..

Well said LeoMoore. Barack Obama is the Diana Ross of Politics – all polish and no substance. May he and all his dreamy-eyed worshippers continue to self destruct as their misguided hope turns into one very long downward spiral! Get out the game kids. Make room for the grown-ups!

ChristopherM, I had bus tire tracks all over my ass in South Carolina when BO cynically used Donnie McClurkin to pander to the bigoted black church vote. Didn’t you feel run over, or is your internet-age attention span so short and selective that you missed that part?
BO is all hat and no cattle. He will never get my vote this election cycle. Eight years from now perhaps. Not this time.
leomoore
ChristopherM, I have nothing in particular against Obama and would have no problem voting for him. As I stated, neither of them was my first or second choice. What bothers me is that the Republicans appear to have succeeded in convincing even other Democrats that sexual peccadilloes of the husband tar the wife as well. There was no financial scandal found with either Clinton even after six years of exhaustive and expensive investigation by a Republican hitman who finally settled on a lie about a blowjob in the foyer of the Oval Office.
I know Democrats who swallowed the whole line of bullshit about Vince Foster being murdered when forensics ruled out anything other than suicide. Then there was all the hoopla about the presidential pardons. The pardons were cynical but they are no more cynical or self-serving than those of almost all other presidents.
My point is that whether or not Barack Obama has real skeletons in his closet is irrelevant. The Republicans have been inventing skeletons out of whole cloth at least since 1980. In 1988, the first Bush used those same tactics (Willie Horton) against Michael Dukakis, and it worked. Sadly, the technique of the Big Lie has been proved to work time after time.
ChristopherM
Actually Richard, I did feel run over until he apologized for it and then proceeded to discuss gay people in virtually every stump speech he’s given since including those to church crowds. He even scolded said crowds when they grew silent at his mention of our civil rights. Clinton is all over the gays…as long as it is only the gays who are watching.
M Shane
That really says it all regarding support for gay people, Chistopher. He isn’t hidding out when he shows his support or us even though that has little or nor advantage. It shows integrity, a rare quality in politicians today.
The interesting fact about that, in itself, is that integrity doesn’t take “experience”. quite the contrary, it takes gumption!
