A journalist will get two months in prison and 50 lashes for supposedly instigating protests against a state electric company; he’ll be whipped in front of the company’s offices. And another man will get 500 lashes for trying to blackmail an ex-girlfriend into dating him again with threats of publishing photos of her. And then there’s the man who Saudi Arabia will reward with 500 lashes and five years in prison for being gay. The 27-year-old was convicted — by the sadists at the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice — of “practicing homosexuality” and sharing photos online and via mobile phone of him wearing women’s underwear. He also received a fine of more than USD$13,000.

This has nothing to do with the “deep” south. I have lived here all of my life, I’ve been to many other places throughout the country and the world, and I would never live anywhere else. The south has its own unique blend of problems for gay people, but they are nothing in comparison to the problems our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters face in the middle east. We should absolutely cut off the Saudis. We need a comprehensive energy plan for America yesterday, but that’s not here. So what. Cut off the cult of islam, stop giving them our money, and maybe then we’ll decide upon a future for ourselves. islam is far more dangerous for our community than any other religion (with christians taking a close second place). Abrahamic religions suck in general.

as someone that lives in a state that up until 2002 had sodomy laws on the books, with fines of up to $1000 and one year in jail for consensual acts (between 2 people of the same sex or between a person and an animal!) This sort of religious gestapoism is all too fresh in my mind! So to think you can’t be jailed in the United States of America because of who you have sex with is simply naive. If it wasn’t for the supreme court declaring it unconstitutional this law would still be on the books in Arkansas and several other states.

Well, the gay community in Saudi Arabia is just going to have to do what any other group would do – stop playing the victim. Get even. Treat the religious police in Saudi Arabia with the same respect they have shown human rights – an eye for eye – isn’t that what all these desert religions teach? Remember religious police are paid to work on the Sabbath and according to all three desert religions that’s an executable offense (exodus 35:2), so why aren’t Saudis executing the religious police if the Koran is the unerring Word of Allah? They use the Koran to persecute gay people, and then massively overlook their own violations of the Koran. Hypocrites. Evil mass-murdering hypocrites. Religious hypocrisy in the Mid-East rivals that of the USA. They use religion to violate other people’s human rights, but heaven-forbid the same religion be turned against them for the harm they have done to gay family members.
