Senator Scott Dibble, the only openly gay member of the state Senate, authored the bill that passed yesterday legalizing same-sex marriage in Minnesota. He put forward his case for marriage equality both eloquently and passionately, making reference to his husband Richard. They had married in California in 2008, and Dibble expressed hope that Minnesota would legally recognize their union.
Needless to say, Scott and Richard were happy after the vote:
