The body of a 28-year-old gay man was found Saturday evening in a wooded area, slumped beside his burnt-out truck.
Marc Pourner of Spring, Texas was discovered around 9pm. His wounds strongly suggest he was tied, gagged, and suffered blunt force trauma to the head.
Authorities aren’t specifying whether the crime is being investigated as a hate crime.
Pourner had been missing since last Thursday, the evening he apparently received a late-night “disturbing” telephone call.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
He didn’t show up to work the next day.
According to a friend, the family located “items” in Pourner’s bedroom that indicate who called him that evening.
“They were able to see who called Marc,” said the friend, who wished to remain anonymous.
Pourner’s family told Houston TV station KTRK that Pourner was the victim of a hate crime, because he was gay.
His father says he was “a good friend to many” and “had a big heart.”
“One of the things that struck me about how this crime was carried out was the speed and cold efficiency,” his father told KTRK. “That indicated to me that this person had probably killed before and I have no doubt they will kill again.”
Authorities say they received a tip that led them to the body from a “person of interest.”
An autopsy was expected to be performed on Monday. A source claims investigators are close to making an arrest.

The inside of the truck was burned to get rid of fibers, DNA, and hairs. Anti-gay Texans have blood on their hands. To lose a loved one in this manner is cruelty, extended beyond the victim and onto the victim’s family. What can anyone say to a father who lost his son in such a way. The glaring spot-light, the lack of privacy, the public nature of this crime is incomprehensible. How much terror did this young man experience before death released him? The persons who did this are likely making themselves a sandwich right now. Woe to them.

I live here in San Antonio… honestly, if you come here, don’t go any further than here or Austin. Maybe Houston, but they gays there are messy as all hell. This state is still so fucking ass backwards, it’s not even funny. A church on every corner, and a liquor and gun store not too far away.
SeeingAll
@1EqualityUSA: Anti-gay Texans have blood on their hands ? Isn’t that jumping to conclusions ? How do you know the poor guy didn’t hook up with a gay serial killer ?
Melissa Michelle White
Disgusting. It’s 2015 here in Washington State, what year is it in Texas?
John Wadsworth
Just another reason I will never move back to Texas, even though I have family in Houston. It is OK because they don’t care about me because I am gay, and they don’t like my so called “life-style”.

I don’t want to read the details but…OH MY GOD! What the fuck is WRONG with people? Hopefully Texas will exercise one of its redeeming qualities by catching the perps and quickly dispatching them with the chair set on Sizzle.

Sad. Here it is 2015. And this could happen in any city in any state. It just so happened in Houston. Every city has it hate. Dallas is having an issue with someone attacking guys in the cedar springs area. I live in ft worth and I have seen people chase a car due to a pride sticker. I have been in Arkansas and Oklahoma and have seen the hate too. It needs to stop everywhere. We all bleed red and all lives matter. #StoptheHate

Texas will be an “open carry state” january 1st. all LGBT should arm themselves and dont be a statistic. The crazies are getting crazier and the supposed persecuted are creating their own dilemma.
SeeingAll
@1EqualityUSA: Why ? I’m not blaming the young man.
SeeingAll
@Jim Philbrick: That’s an idiotic statement. Did you say that about New Yorkers when the killer (Richard Rogers) was mutilating gay men and leaving their dismembered pieces along highways ?
SeeingAll
@David Duering: Yeah, no murders and burning of bodies in any other states, right ?
SeeingAll
@Adam C. Boardman: Another brilliant statement.
1EqualityUSA
The father of this young man doesn’t need to read stuff like this, SeeingAll. Whatever point you’re laboring to make cannot be worth what you may be putting the victim’s friends and family through. This comment to Jim Philbrick is insensitive. Do no harm. I hope they aren’t reading this article.
Daniel Fischer
Seems like Texas is the American equivalent of religious ignorance, intolerance and stupidity. How does one fix stupid on such a grand scale?

And this happened in TEXAS!?! No!!! I just can’t believe some slack-jawed yokels with drain-bamage would do such a thing in the great state of Tex-ass…these guys all have fears they’re gay themselves I’d wager…..probly all wearing lacey-silk undies as we speak…and cutting out little paper dollies on their porch as they swig bottles of King Snedley’s Gay Beer….blowin’ kisses at each other….wearin’ lavender scented after-shave…chewin’ bubble-gum flavored Red Man…yup, some real he-men there…

@M J Martinez Crogan: Texas also had the first serial rapist (a gay man) of straight men. Would they have had the right to blow him away too ?

@Jeffrey Thomas: Wishful thinking on your part. I heard the same types of statements when gay Marco McMillian was murdered in Mississippi. Then it turned out to be his boyfriend and all the Alabama-bashers (and Christian-bashers) just slunk away.

David Junior
I knew this young man trough mutual friends and yes it’s a horrible thing that happened to him. I’m not going to say anything about it except I hope he rests in peace, I hope they find out who did this. I do want to say that all gay men who are constantly posting on Craigslist or Grindr should always no matter what meet people in public places. Be careful.

@alphacentauri: It’s nowhere near as liberal as Austin, but there are some really good areas. But, yeah, Texas is still so backwards overall… look at this disgusting case. Just aggressively ignorant bumpkins and some people actually saying he brought it on himself because of his “lifestyle.” Nothing like good ole bigotry with a thick country accent.
I get what your ex is saying… some of the people I’ve run into will send chills down your spine with their r@cist, homophobic BS, and that’s just them talking.
SeeingAll
@Xzamilio: Be fair. How do you know this case has anything to do with Texas ? Haven’t there been gruesome crimes in every state ? Including those committed by gays? (Think of Dean Corll).
SeeingAll
@Stefano: Interesting. Texas isn’t even in the top ten of hate crime states (per capita).
SeeingAll
@Jim Philbrick: Looks like Connecticut is higher on the list for hate crimes than Texas. But you won’t have the integrity to even respond to that.
SeeingAll
Actually, nobody here has the integrity to respond to my questioning their wishful assumptions. They’re in hiding.

My Mom and both of my sisters live in Montgomery County. I live in San Francisco. They understand why I don’t want to come visit. I do it though. This is my family but I’m so glad I don’t live there. I went to High School there in the 70’s. That was enough.
My Mom has said several times that she thinks I am in a much better place (sounds morbid) and that she wouldn’t have wanted me to stay in Texas.

So much bashing! I’m a gay man and I’ve lived here in Houston for the passed 20 yrs, this is a great modern metropolitan city. People who live here probably know Texas could be broken up in to 5 very different states, similar to the way Northern Californians and Southern Californians are seen to be different people. So the ignorant broad strokes are annoying and unhelpful because if you read the article, if you use your context clues it indicates that Marc probably knew the person who did this, and was most likely another gay person
Yes HERO unfortunately failed, it’s a prop 8 repeat. Fear mongers got the best of uneducated people. But we are going to keep trying.
It’s a terrible thing for a parent to bury a child. It’s not something I would wish upon others. My condolences are with his family. Instead of just talking bullshit. Why don’t you donate to his GoFundMe so his parents can pay for his funeral
SeeingAll
@PabloBravo8: Thanks for that. I’ve been too aggravated by these know-nothing Queerties who only feel comfortable when they’re holding onto fake assumptions and bashing others online.

@Stefano: Again, Texas doesn’t even make the top ten of most violent states.

@Stefano: We have gangs and ghettos here, unfortunately.

@Jim Philbrick: Jimster7 ??????
youarekiddingme
@SeeingAll: Where are you getting your stats on hate crimes by state? Not from the agency who collects the data I assure you that (the FBI). I have read the FBI report on Hate Crimes and it is NOT broken down by “TOP TEN” most violent states with hate crimes…The FBI compiles data on the entire country (using UCR). Another fact that you are obviously unaware of is that the reason that the FBI DOES NOT RANK by locale (i.e., city/state) is because there are too many variables involved in the reasons why the numbers are higher in one area than the other (density/urbanization/youth, etc). I suggest you read the 2014 UCR Hate Crime Report for more info as to a detailed explanation as to their reasoning.
Before you spout information about one state’s hate crime stats over another, you should be sure about what you are talking about?
SeeingAll
@youarekiddingme: Now, very carefully, go back and look who I’m talking to and you’ll see who made the links to the data I’m referring to.
