Gay Vicar Alex Brown Jailed For Performing Sham Immigrant Marriages

The Rev. Alex Brown, a 61-year-old gay vicar in the Church of England accused of orchestrating 383 sham marriages for immigrants looking to secure papers, was sentenced to four years in jail for matching African men and Eastern European women — for a fee. Two of his cohorts were nailed too. But you’ve got to admit, the name Brown had one of the fraudulent husbands, some of whom were already married, use was awesome: Felix Spaceman. Brown insists his suspicious were raised with a few couples, but that he’s only guilty of forgetting to check passports, not for overlooking the fact that wedding rings didn’t fit, men chose new brides at the last second, or that brides had to return their dresses after the ceremonies.
