Gays Sue Birmingham Mayor Langford

Birmingham mayor Larry Langford’s got some angry gays on his hands.

Langford first pissed off same-sex lovers this year when he refused to endorse the city’s gay pride march. Because, he said, the city cannot endorse the lavender “lifestyle.”

Though he didn’t fight the parade, Langford wouldn’t let city workers hang up celebratory banners. And he’s found himself on the receiving end of a federal lawsuit.

Central Alabama Pride Inc. said Langford violated the First Amendment by refusing to let city workers hang the banners. The group said Langford had no rational basis for restricting the banners.

The federal lawsuit, filed in Birmingham, said the City of Birmingham discriminated because it had hung flags or banners in support of other events.

Thank god for the justice system, America’s great equalizer!
