Homophobic policies can cost you. Hotelier Doug Manchester learned that lesson yesterday after GLAAD canceled its “Pride Rocks” reservation at Manchester’s Hyatt after learning that Manchester contributed $125,000 to get a gay marriage ban on November’s ballot. That initiative garnered enough signatures just this week.
GLAAD president Neil Giuliano insists his organization will endorse other Hyatt “Pride Rocks” events, but simply cannot condone Manchester’s branch:
Mr. Manchester‘s decision to fund an initiative that would hurt loving, committed gay couples makes it impossible for us to continue to be associated with any promotion of his venue. GLAAD strongly encourages members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community to speak as one and to withdraw their support from this venue’s event as well.
Consider it done. We prefer the Comfort Inn, anyway.

So does this mean SAAD will stop taking money from and whoring for COORS whose profits help create and continue to finance the entire Antigay Industy—not just the anti marriage equality branch of it?
And, maybe that would lead the way for the Human Rights Champagne fund to get their own soul out of hock by stopping taking money from Coors as well as stopping dishonestly giving Coors a 100% rating in their Buy Fags Buy!!! guide.

Leland Frances is so right. Gays and lesbians constitute an enormous market, and it’s about time we started refusing to support those who oppose our interests. “Boycott” is such an ugly word, but nonetheless. If we start flexing our economic muscle a little, we might be surprised by the enthusiasm corporations might start showing in support of our issues.

Not only that, but Coors beer is swill.
I don’t shop at Home Depot because the recently replaced CEO Robert Nardelli donated to and helped raise millions for Bush in 2004 by hosting fundraisers at his mansion. I have a long memory. With him as CEO at Chrysler, I won’t be buying from them either. I even refused to take my project team to Cracker Barrell for lunch as fulfillment of a promise. They picked another restaurant. It was a chance to inform them of the history of Cracker Barrell and to encourage them to remember that on future journeys. I’m sure my single efforts don’t make much difference on their own, but it allows me some feeling of integrity.
I’m not so much boycotting as I am rewarding competitors who provide similar or better value actively working against me. We should reward our friends and allies.

Good for you, Leomoore!!!
