Poor Caitlyn Jenner had a humiliating sit-down with some of her gross friends this week — this time a group of Republicans barely willing to be seen in public with her.
Jenner was in Washington on behalf of the American Unity Fund, a group that believes against all evidence that Republicans can be persuaded to support LGBT equality. As we’ve seen, the only time the GOP supports queers is if the politician discovers they have a gay family member, is outed in a sex scandal, or meets a queer person with money. So at least two of those conditions were satisfied by Caitlyn’s visit.
Among those present was Florida (of course) representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, whose son is trans. “Caitlyn is going to continue this outreach and I think it’s a positive message of love and outreach.” Ileana said later.
The other lawmakers who were present scuttled away like cockroaches before they could be identified. When pressed, Ileana refused to say who else was there.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Of course, if it’s a message of “love and outreach” that Caitlyn and Ileana are after, they’ll have a tough time making their case to the party that killed tens of thousands of queer people through the HIV epidemic; that did everything in its power to stop same-sex couples from having even basic rights, and whose party to this day still supports abusive “ex-gay” torture camps.
If only there was a party that actually stood on the side of equality and due process and justice for all. If only.

Such vitriol and hatred, guys. Chill out for a minute.
Caitlyn Jenner is an adult woman capable of making her own political choices,no matter what you think of them.
She has also brought a lot of visibility to transsexualism, gender disorders and the process of transitioning. She’s done more than you, that’s for sure.
CaliKyle
@RadChad: The sort of “visibility” Jenner’s misguided transition has brought to the community is the kind they can do without. I agree with you that it is up to Jenner to decide which party more fully manifests her economic, sociopolitical views. The fact that she’s steadfastly allied herself with not just the Republican party but some of its more odious representatives speaks volumes about who Jenner truly is. Who she is not is an effective advocate for the GLBT community.

@CaliKyle:
Problem is that as soon as anyone who isn’t straight turns out to sympathize with anything that doesn’t fit “The LGBTQ Community’s” views, they’re attacked for it and they’re shamed for it.
People has to remember that being not straight or having a conventional gender identity etc etc isn’t a choice. Therefore it can hardly be expected that everyone will have the same political views. You all foster such insane resentment to anyone deviating from what you want them to think. It’s pretty hypocritical.

Dear Queerty, you sinked to a new low bahahhaha “…to the party that killed tens of thousands of queer people through the HIV epidemic…” WTF .??????

@RadChad: Three quick notes for the anonymous “Chad” who might no be as “Rad” as he assumes.
1. There is no such thing as “transsexual-ism” (your word), just as there are people, but no such thing as “people-ism” and there are cowboys, but no such thing as “cowboy-ism.” The made-up word is an effort by anti-LGBT bigots to cast transgender individuals as pursuing a frivolous, in-real ideology, as opposed to just being themselves.
2. There also is no such thing as “gender disorder” (your word). Having a gender, or a gender identity, is never a disorder. Again, the term you use is a made-up word as part of the effort by anti-LGBT bigots to cast all persons concerned with gender-related issues as defective, ill, and incurable.
3. The visibility generated by Jenner benefitted no one, and seriously set back the movement for equality. She does not speak for or represent transgender people anywhere.
4. The proof that Jenner’s contributions are useless is that all but one of the Republican lawmakers who met with her escaped out a rear door, and run off as quickly as possible, refusing to face anybody. They didn’t want anyone, anywhere, to ever know that they so much as even spoke to Jenner. So much for her “visibility.”

@Kim K Kute Kuchie: “Kim K. Kute Kuchie” asks how the Republican Party killed tens of thousands of queers with HIV.
Great question.
AIDS was first diagnosed in 1981, but Republican leaders in Congress and the White House refused to even admit that it existed until 1985, after the epidemic was well underway. For 4 years, Republicans responded to press inquiries about AIDS with only derisive laughter, degrading jokes, and dismissive changes of subject. Even today, Republicans still view AIDS as an excuse to legislate and litigate against LGBT people. If you doubt that, just listen to Republican lawmakers debating marriage equality, and read their legal arguments filed in court cases nationwide.
The 2016 Republican Party Platform is the most anti-LGBT party platform ever written.
Even today, Republicans still speak in hushed, revered tones about “Saint Ronald Reagan” yet they never admit that it was his wall of silence about the AIDS epidemic that led to enormous numbers of unnecessary, avoidable deaths.
Thanks for asking.

It would not shock me to learn that these groups she brings along with her traveling circus are as phony and hollow as she is.

@RadChad:
Oh look, the one or two Log Cabiners on here have created a new fake screename.
Notice how the attempt is to always avoid the topic of the post (reps refusing to be seen talking to Jenner) and to attack the lgbt community?

The line, “the party that killed tens of thousands of queer people through the HIV epidemic,” speaks volumes about liberal logic:
The government is responsible for reigning in your rampant unsafe sexual activities . . . unless it’s a Democrat in charge. Then it’s the fault of the most recent Republican-run government. Or the one from 30 years ago. Or something.
My (gay) uncle likes to talk of the hystericals back in the early 80s who would directly blame Reagan for the spread of AIDS, as if condomless promiscuity had absolutely nothing to do with it. At which I laugh, laugh, laugh.

@Ned_Flaherty:
Oh, so you’re saying people being born with a gender identity that doesn’t match up with their biological body is a good thing? The majority of gender identity is biologically innate to us. When something goes wrong, you get trans-sexuality. Incredibly destructive dysphoria, suicides. The best way to treat it, is transitioning – Matching up the outwards biological sex to the inwards gender identity.
It’s not fine, and pretending it is does a disservice to anyone suffering from it who more than anything needs professional treatment. What they don’t need is hippies like you.

Why do we keep on following Bruce/Caitlyn when she has a long history of anti gay opinions? She is not our ally and still can’t understand why the Republican party has cause the gay community so much harm. We could, as has already been said talk about the A.I.D.S crisis but to me more to the point is that Republican foster hatred to our community.
There is little doubt that hate crimes especially in the South are ignored when it comes to our community. Yes there are examples of people being charged but the issue currently in Dallas is an example of many attacks being of little interest to the community. Why are we even surprised when these communities are often Republican based? Bruce/Caitlyn who I have met years ago is still the same jerk now as he was then. He reminds me of Cohen from ‘Angels in America’. The less I hear of him the better.

It was inevitable that Jenner would become a social pariah. I’m surprised it took this long.

Enough with Jenner. Take the lead started by ETv, give the boot.
