Gregory + Jonathan Didn’t Get the Most Votes. But That Doesn’t Mean They Lost a $100k Wedding

Though Gregory and Jonathan didn’t come in first place in Crate & Barrel’s $100,000 dream wedding contest (they were No. 2, behind Mary and Densey), that doesn’t mean they’ve lost. In fact, the top fifty vote receivers move on to the sweeps’ final round, where a panel will select who gets the top prize.

According to the official rules, here’s how the judges (wedding planner Jo Gartin, and the brass at C&B and DailyCandy) will decide the winner this month: They’ll tally up scores based on

• Originality and creativity of Entrant’s responses to the topics (50%);
• How well Entry invokes and inspires Crate and Barrel’s lifestyle (30%);
• Entry’s Ranking in public voting (20%) as follows: 1st–10th place in public voting will receive 10 points; 10th–20th place will receive 6 points; 20th–30th place will receive 4 points; and the remaining 20 Finalists will receive 0 points.

Indeed, your voting was the least important factor. Heh.

Meanwhile, in addition to the $100k grand prize, there are 18 other awards in the form of C&B gift cards ranging in value from $500 to $7,500. And with plenty of other gays in the Top 50 — like Ed and Erwin (diagnosed with terminal lung cancer), Emily and Rachel, and Mikey and Earl — we should expect at least a couple homos will walk away with a new flatware set.
