Stopping by Ellen, out skier Gus Kenworthy expressed his excitement for the upcoming Games, including meeting all the other athletes.
By “other athletes,” it’s safe to assume he primarily meant the Team USA bobsledding team.
Them: What are you most excited for in Korea?
Me: Meeting the other athletes… ? pic.twitter.com/fbC7v2rc0z— Gus Kenworthy (@guskenworthy) January 27, 2018
And while this year’s Games haven’t started yet, they’ve already been successful for Kenworthy.
He and figure skater Adam Rippon are the first two out gay men to compete on Team USA for an Olympic medal. Win!
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Gus already has major sponsorship deals, including this Head and Shoulders commercial that is the first to feature the rainbow pride flag in a national spot. Win!

And he’s primed to ski the best he’s ever skied, even after working his way back from a pretty intense injury.
He showed Ellen his battle wounds, which conveniently came in the form of a drool-worthy underwear shot:
Here’s the rest of the interview, which features even more goods:

What a shame about the tattoo. Well, nobody’s perfect.

His isn’t that bad. I have seen a lot worse tats at the gym. His is at least complete. I just hope he stops there.
Josh447
Excellent. So proud to have him represent us internationally and also so proud that he spoke his mind about the anti gay non inclusiveness of the vice president Mike Pence.

Agreed
joey62
He´s such a sweet and intelligent guy…not forgetting sexy and hot though
Brettly43
why does ellen objectify men? LOL
ShowMeGuy
She knows her fan base is straight women and gay guys and she knows what straight women and gay guys both love…….
WellHello
Ellen’s looking at the bruise.

There’s a line too many of these guys cross over, into the territory of “professional gay” where the primary goal is monetising “GAY” rather than being quietly outstanding and letting the excellence speak for itself and by extension the gay community. I dont know enough to opine which side this guy is on. But I wish him the best

(Ugh, why am I bothering to respond? I guess I can’t help myself).
I agree that too often coming out feels like a career move. It seems as if the three primary choices are: simply staying closeted, coming out but still showing plenty of shame and evasiveness, and using coming out to boost your profile and social media followers. Very few people in the spotlight seem to find a happy medium.
I as well don’t know much about this dude except that he’s a out, good-looking athelete.

Don’t even try to fight it! We mutually irresistible! I am pure-hearted, innocent Krystle to your Alexis (and vice versa)
Donston
I’m cool with being Alexis since I’m typically the one with reciepts.

So basically you want a “Don’t ask don’t tell” world, where you can be gay, just don’t talk about it. Is that it? Just because YOU don’t want the world to know you’re gay, doesn’t mean everyone else has to live that way.
crowebobby
I don’t know if Ellen is pandering or not, but the only person who has ever “literally” taken my breath away was a young girl of 15 or 16 that I saw on the street in Copenhagen . . . and I have zero sexual interest in women. However, I’m not impervious to beauty of any kind.
Notright
I still prefer the Russian boys more! ha! But you want a better body read this. https://packedman.com/home-gym-worth-it/ it helped me out

Big deal I have gotten worse bruises on the job Like to see some of these buff pretty guys do my line of work in the oilfield .
ctotogo
How would you do at his line of work?
dwes09
I am sure that with proper training “buff pretty boys” like Kenworthy would do just as well in your field, if not better, then they do in the upper echelon of pro/am athletics. And though he is not showing his injury as some sort of proof of masculinity, it sure appears as if you are. What’s up with that?

Gus Kenworthy is 26 years old. When I was 26, it was 1971. THIS could NEVER have happened during that time period. NEVER!!!! I know there have been struggles and some backsliding but the gay community has come a very long way since Stonewall in June of 1969. I thought I would never see same-sex marriage legal in my lifetime….but….WOW! It happened. Yes. We still have a long way to go but there really is light at the end of the tunnel. I hope all you young people will keep the ball rolling in a positive direction……………Thornton Goode

Great comment and glad you’ve gotten to see all of the progress the gay community has made in your lifetime!

We need to make Gus Kenworthy the US Flag Bearer.
Stevepup
I just adore him. I wish him the best at the Olympics!

Queerty, you can add to Gus’ resume that he also appeared on Top Chef this year to assist the judges in challenge. He appreciates fine food and he is easy on the eyes, athletic, and no dandruff.

I am so proud of Gus. He is out and proud and he seems to be so genuine. Good luck to Gus and Adam! Proud gay American athletes… and to ALL of our Team USA athletes. GOLD all the way!
