Half-Naked Naval Academy First Years Get Greased Up In The Name Of Tradition

In any other context, watching a bunch of strapping young men (and, ok, some women) strip down and climb up a greased up phallic symbol in a fleshy free-for-all would seem pretty homoerotic.

Well actually, even in this context it still does.

The annual (and wonderful) tradition of the Herndon Monument Climb wherein the Naval Academy’s first-year plebes scurry to retrieve a hat off the top of the obelisk took place this weekend, and here are the photos to prove it.
