It was five years ago today the first civil partnership — that thing Elton John prefers to actual marriage — went down in the United Kingdom, and while fewer and fewer gays are snapping them up, take some pride in knowing they’re still the exclusive territory of homosexuals. Or don’t.
Happy 5th Anniversary, British Civil Partnerships

Civil partnerships are a mere stepping stone to full civil marriage equality. The Liberal Democrats who are now part of the Tory coalition government of David Cameron has officially endorsed marriage equality several weeks ago. The Labour Party’s new leader, Ed Miliband, supports it and so too will the party inevitably if they want to make a comeback against the Liberal Democrats and the Tories. The Tories are currently on the fence with Cameron saying he’d consider it during his election campaign, while StonewallUK’s Ben Summerskill has reversed his opposition to it and is purportedly going to include it in StonwallUK’s campaign. Its just a question of time before it happens and happen it will, I’ve no doubt about that. The majority of the British public polled in 2009 supported it at 61% of those polled, far higher than we have in the U.S.

Oh dear, the religious right in the U.S. told us civil unions are merely the advance guard to full marriage equality….
Now for reality – apparently the sky hasn’t fallen in England because of civil unions, eh? Just like it hasn’t fallen in Massachussetts either because they have Same Sex Marriage.

That would explain why the entire nation of Great Britan has submerged into a lake of fire and all citizens were killed by the wrath of a vengeful god……
…..
Oh wait.
