Why is there a guy in a terry-cloth robe in the background? Was this in a bathhouse?

My hopes were far too high re: Why aren’t people more pissed off about Hillary Clinton’s anti-gay connections?

I hoped it would be a column by Kenyon Farrow, perhaps, but really, it was… *shakes head* Using a provocative lead to re-describe Obama’s anti-gay connection(s).

    Boo.

Seaflood – Here is your Canadian neighbour -cum American spouse and son, with his and popular take outside the USA.

Unless anyone else trips her up, Hillary and by extension, Bill Clinton are back in the White House. Argentina redux.

The DLC and the Corporatists have already anointed her. Rupert Murdoch has anointed her. These guys are pissed at their “friends” in the neocon right wing for losing their easy gravy train ride to raping US sheeple treasure.

Clinton has promised that all programmes will be corporate centric. Energy policy will be sensitive to the oil and power companies, universal health care will still require insurance company profits, and the social conservatives will be assured that no civil marriage federal law or federal civil union law-and if push comes to shove- enshrine it in constitution to assuage a more powerful and wealthy bloc than the LGBT community. Besides, their one senior congressman eyes a Senate seat and that requires his betrayal of civil marriage both personally and nationally.

So, the gentrified LBG(T) groups will genuflect on both knees to the DLC in the same way that the GOP under Nixon gave the coup de grace to blacks inviting the Dixiecrat racists to populate the southern GOP. Remember that Bill advised John Kerry to drop the gays in 2004 when polls determined a huge theocon backlash. When you have no principles that are not negotiable, you do the expedient.

You tell the Corporatists that you have “tamed” the real left, and that you will modify the socialist programmes like welfare despite the social consequences and that you will let them feed at the trough just like the right wing.

It worked for Tony Bliar and it will work for Hillary and Bill Clinton this time.

I truly believe that Bill Richardson will be the next veep. The defence of Hillary last debate nailed it for me. He is trusted by Bill (his energy secy and un ambassador) and will quell the Hispanic revolt. His Caucasian father’s name blunts his Hispanic mother’s reality.

The war in Iraq will continue where corporate profits and sweetheart oil deals are concerned. Hillary promised troops there and a Korea-like presence to assure oil dominance. Triangulation is the only PRIMARY strategy possible. The GENERAL will be complete DLC and DINO candidacy.

Rev. – you are so right. It’s fucking depressing as hell, and I really don’t know what to do at this point, other than moving to another country. But you are absolutely right.

Edwards campaign could pick up a lot of EX-Obama supporters, those mcClurkin spit on, and since the McClurkin incident, the straight Obama bloggers who bash Ex-Obama queers, they’ve given me a whole NEW fresh and meaner ANGER than McClurkin. Edwards would be savvy to hire a good LGBT laison (ie Chrissy Gephardt) and send Cate and Chrissy through early primary states reaching out to LGBT churches, colege organizations, P=FLAG Chapters. Many dissefected gays if treated with respect could change candidates.

The reason that most people are not more outspoken about the anti-gay connections of Clinton, Obama, Edwards, et al., is simply because they are Democrats. Most gay men and women sheepishly follow the Democrats without knowing their true colors. At the same time, they are first to point out the anti-gay connections of the Republicans. Hypocrisy, pure and simple.

    November 4, 2007 at 8:11am
  • Rt. Rev. Dr. RES

I differ with your assessment, kamasutrajones. You are right that both the centrist DLC (not the real Democrats) and the theocon Republicans ( not the libertarian Republicans) are opposed to marriage equality.

However, the theocons are opposed to ANY civil rights for the LGBT community. In fact, their goal is to recriminalise it, while their self-loathing legislators loiter and legislate against our rights and theirs not to hate themselves hypocritically.

While the theocons want constitutional amendments, the centrists want to do no harm but do no good.

Your spin is not yours, kama…it is Rush and the rightwingnut jobs whose altar you worship at every day with a diet of lies and triangulations.

Gregg- The expatriation of HETEROSEXUALS to Central America, especially Costa Rica and Panama, is substantial – in the Boomer retirees especially and those just a little older. Another cheaper alternative is Nicaragua.

For gays and lesbians – the choice is more apparent for those raising children. There is MA, of course, and those second-tier rights in the other New England and Middle Atlantic states ready to create the “Connecticut Canard.” IThe irony is that the word in French means a duck, and when read in English is drole…..lol)

You asked. If Canada is your question, here it is.
If you are a couple, get married. It is easier with our laws to immigrate a legal spouse. If you are single, our laws allow Canadian citizens to successfully petition for landed status for legal spouses, unlike other countries, including your own who do not allow either opposite or same-sex spouses to automatically immigrate.

Expatriation is one matter. The citizenship option is the other. Many persons worldwide remain loyal to their own country while living abroad until the political climate changes.

Whatever, here is the truth about true equality and freedom . IT IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL TO GET UP EVERY MORNING A LEGAL FAMILY WITH RIGHTS THE SAME AS MY NEIGHBOURS, FAMILY AND FRIENDS. Slowly, but surely, former antagonists become supporters when they see the stability of the gay and lesbian community as a result of this.

Do we still have heterosexual and gay party types who live other type lives? Of course, we do !!!! But for once, the country sees those folks as choosing to remain in the ghetto until they are comfortable to integrate into the commonweal. That’s okay by all.
