Harry Styles of One Direction has had his fair share of gay rumors, and he doesn’t seem to care one bit.
In fact, it’s almost like he wants people to question him. There’s the Michael Sam jersey, that kiss with James Corden and all sorts of interpretable behavior. The uncertainty has even led to some amazing arguments about the subject.
Which is all context for the following instance, when during an interview, Harry said that gender is not an important trait he looks for in a potential suitor.
Harry and Liam Payne were asked the four things they look for in a partner. Liam said, “Female. That’s a good trait.”
Harry responded, “Eh, not that important.”
The exchange happens at about the 2:30 mark:
Cam
“”Harry said that gender is not an important trait he looks for in a potential suitor.””
_____________________
Actually he didn’t say that gender isn’t important. The other guy said “Female” and he said “That’s not important”.
Then further on, when they were discussing personality and the importance of somebody being nice he said “I’m not going to go out with a dickhead” Which is typically a word that describes males.
Sounds like he’s inching out of the closet.

@Cam: Lul! Dickhead is not a word that describes ALL males. Its the word that describes gay males that would do something like join Log Cabin Republicans. It simply means he wants the person to be nice.
Cam
@tdx3fan:
I wasn’t saying that it described all males, I was pointing out that women typically are not called dickheads. i.e. when talking about who he would date he seemed to indicate that they would be male.
If he had said “I’m not going to go out with somebody whose a bitch or something like that, that could lean more female.”
That was what I meant.
mydude
@Cam:
I agree. He’s inching.
Good for him.
Zodinsbrother
Just to say that in the UK the term “dickhead” isn’t exclusively used to mean males. It’s certainly has a male preference in use but it can be used to refer to women too. It basically can be used to mean someone who is thoughtless, boorish, rude or ignorantly stupid.
But no, it’s not used exclusively towards men.
That said, recent UK research shows that while 8% or British men are Gay or Bi, about a quarter of all straight men 18-35 in the UK have had sexual relations with someone of the same sex even though they identify as straight. So basically a quarter of British men are now heteroflexible.
jmmartin
@Cam: Will he get out before James Franco?
mydude
@jmmartin:
For sure.
JF loves the attention and the mystery of not coming out more than Harry imo

Those two look like they’re over 20 years old. Gross!

On the subject of interesting answers to questions, I was watching an interview with Brenton Thwaites recently, the interview is here:http://yourmovies.com.au/article/8919519/watch-aussie-heartthrob-brenton-thwaites-reveals-his-relationship-deal-breaker
The article talks up about what constitutes a requirement for any future partner (in this case being Peanut Butter), but what surprised me as I wasn’t expecting it, when asked what does he look for in a partner, his immediate response is “male or female?” To which ther interviewer says “both”.
That seemed to me a fairly clear indication of being Bi but interestingly, it doesn’t seem to have been noticed by many people.
Mikah
Which one isn’t bisexual?

And Liam A.K.A the leader of the damn duck dynasty fan club can just fuck off somewhere.

@Vaengence: Wow, that Brenton Thwaites video is pretty revealing. It’s a complete reflex when he responds. I bet his publicity team immediately started breaking links to it. He has the potential, unlike Taylor Lautner, to actually become a masculine leading man.
Harry sort of seemed like he just wanted to rile up Liam’s bigoted self. Although, he did say earlier that he doesn’t “think” he’s bi. He may be trying to leave the door open to come out later, when the group breaks up. I can’t imagine the pressure on him to conform by the group’s mgmt. I haven’t seen 1D in many interviews, but it is kind of nice to see that they’re fairly level-headed and not taking after Bieber.
mydude
@Vaengence:
Very revealing…and he’s hanging out with noted bisexual temptress Ewan McGregor to boot?
Yes Please.

@Zodinsbrother: Are you actually British? I am.
I agree with Cam – you wouldn’t refer to a woman as a dickhead. It’s not impossible, but it would sound very odd.
And dickhead does not mean thoughtless or boorish (?!). Rude, yes. Irritating, yes.

“In fact, it’s almost like he wants people to question him. There’s the Michael Sam jersey,…”
So if I wear a jersey with a striaght guys name on it, I’m STRAIGHT???
VampDC
And this is why I will support One Direction and Harry Styles!
He just has such an amazing and wise way about him! <3

@mydude: I think the old video has stopped working. But ya, it is very revealing. The way he says, “they’re very different”, in reference to males and females, appears he is speaking from experience. I believe Harry says “No DOUBT important.”
Is it so hard to believe a straight, young man is actually secure about his sexuality?
Luckychico
