Rookie streaming giant HBO Max has announced its latest foray into exciting LGBTQ content: the limited series Equal about the history of queer rights.
Produced by Greg Berlanti, Jim Parsons and the minds behind Queer Eye, Equal will recount the history of the LGBTQ rights movement in the aftermath of the Stonewall Uprising, focusing on the brave and often little-known heroes of the time. In an exciting twist, the eclectic cast also features a litany of popular queer performers.
The cast includes Keiynan Lonsdale as Bayard Rustin, Anthony Rapp as Mattachine Society founder Harry Hay, Hailie Sahar as Sylvia Rivera, Jamie Clayton as Christine Jorgensen, Samira Wiley as Raisin in the Sun playwright Lorraine Hannsberry, Elizabeth Ludlow as Stormé DeLarverie (the woman who actually started the Stonewall riots), and Shannon Purser & Heather Matarazzo as longtime lesbian activist couple Del Martin & Phyllis Lyon. Isis King, Gale Harold, Chyanne Jackson, Sam Pancake, Sarah Gilbert, Jai Rodriguez and Theo Germaine also star.
Directed by queer directors Stephen Kijak and Kimberly Reed, Equal lands on HBO Max this October.

looks and sounds a lot better/more interesting than that GOD AWFUL ABC Mini series- ‘We Shall Rise’ or ‘We Will Rise’ (I blocked it) on the gay rights movement

I politely disagree. When We Rise was a terrific series. And I didn’t have to join a streaming service to watch it.
