Here’s Almost Everything You Need To Know About Ballroom And Vogueing In Six Minutes

Screen Shot 2015-07-27 at 9.32.27 AMSaturday marked the silver anniversary of New York City’s all-night-long Latex Ball, created in 1990 to raise awareness for HIV/AIDS and bring attention to the legendary members of the city’s ballroom scene.

HuffPo’s Alex Berg spoke with members of the House of Khan — including Luna Khan, “the overall father of the House of Khan and a specialist at GMHC,” as well as Lil Man Khan and Natasha Khan — to break down the fabulous event and its rich history. Khan relates ballroom to a basketball team and a pageant.

“You have the cheers and excitement of basketball players playing in a gym and you have the pageantry and beauty of a pageant,” Khan says. “It’s basically hours of competition and love and inspiring and uplifting and beautiful costumes and beautiful faces and makeup.” Who could ask for anything more?
