Andy [Cohen] and I were first set up on a blind date, which never happened because we had a phone call and after two minutes I said, ‘I’m not dating this guy.’
He broke my cardinal rule. He mentioned my mom within the first four sentences of meeting me. If somebody does that, it’s a deal-breaker. And we’re never going on a date.”—Anderson Cooper, explaining on Wednesday night’s Watch What Happens Live exactly what happens when someone immediately brings up his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt.
JW Richard
Um, I’d agree with Anderson. He’s established enough as a journalist without you having to mention the guy’s mother, unless Andy was like..hearing her voice in the background or something.
Realitycheck
I love Anderson but him and Andy are two big Girls, I guess muffin bumping is not for Anderson…..
Teva
Lord! Mah~Boo rejected Andy C over THAT?.

@Realitycheck: Andy is a top, so he proclaims.

Why date each other? New York is home to some of the most eligible bachelors anyway. With hundreds of thousands of gay men to connect with, why pigeon-hole yourself to someone who is essentially ‘in industry’. It’s not as if they’re going to Connie Chung/Maury Povich themselves.
Based on Cohen’s own statements (about wanting children, and a life in the suburbs…), can you imagine Anderson Cooper ever living that type of life. Has his whole experience thus far, not been one of independence (not wanting to use the Vanderbilt name professionally, wanting and being taken seriously as a hard-hitting journalist, being rather at home in the hustle and bustle of events unfolding, and if not, at home in the City). It seems much more than an odd pairing, if long-term compatibility is the goal.
Captain Obvious
The real reason is two bottoms do not make a top.
Jack Meoff
Interesting that that one little tidbit was deemed so news worthy it warranted it’s own article.

Who cares. No really. Who cares? It bugs me that gay culture sites like this so often obsess about gay celebrities who are grown men in their 40s as if they were teenage boys band members. Who dated who? Who had a crush on who? Who’s the top… Christ! Ack… Sorry, but grow up. Try actual journalism.
Eclatant
@jdboston617: It bugs you that “gay culture sites” have a lot of stories about “gay culture?”
I’m sensing a disconnect here.
Realitycheck
@11jks13: I know and I laugh about it all the times, in fact ha ha ha ha, sorry ha ha ha…
stop me stop me…ha ha ha

@jdboston617: Really?!!! This is Gay Tabloid News, did you really think it was anything else? Why are you here then and making comments? Crawl back under that rock idiot.
n900mixalot
I had to Google it. For anyone who doesn’t feel like it, his mother is Gloria Vanderbilt … whoever that is. Vanderbilt = wealthy American “founding” family but … other than that, only a family widely known for their wealth.
cabe
I think Anderson rejected him b/c Cohen is a gossipy queen who doesn’t shut up. Cohen has even said that about himself.
Brian
Anderson reminds me of an ostrich while Andy has that annoying bung eye that resembles a wayward beetle.
jdboston617
@frankcar1965: So I have a different opinion than you, so now you feel you can insult me? That’s pathetic.
jdboston617
@Eclatant: It’s not a gay culture question, it’s the adolescent nature of it. It’s childish. That’s all.
