Editor’s note: We’ve asked online comedian, voice actor and chest hair model Sam Kalidi to create a new meme each week for Queerty readers. This week he looks at Spirit Day, GLAAD’s anti-bullying campaign that encourage supporters to wear, ahem, the color purple. Sam looks forward to all your hate mail. You can find him on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and at your local glory hole.

YAAAAS CELIE! and it’s true, it pisses God off if you walk by the colour purple in a field and don’t notice.

Ogre Magi
So what does that mean?
Xzamilio
It’s sad all the homos that don’t understand the great movie this is…
I could quote this movie to the point that I recite the entire dialogue from start to finish.
Ogre Magi
@Xzamilio: Well, can you explain what that quote means
Cam
Ok, That meme works, and kept with Celies peaceful nature. But you have to admit, the scene where she was going to give him a shave and Shug Avery got there just in time………..wow.
Cam
@Ogre Magi:
Celie was finally breaking away from a husband that was beyond abusive, he was going to hit her, and she put up her hand and said that until he did right by her, everything he tried was going to fail, then she said the quote in the meme.
Black, White, L, G, B, T, Male, Female, whoever you are, it’s a great movie.
Captain Obvious
@Xzamilio: The sad part is making a mockery of it instead of respecting the point of the work. Screwing with this movie the way this article and that video does is almost as bad as someone making fun of roots.
Kinda weird when it’s coming from a group that tries so hard to claim minority status despite the most vocal being part of the majority.
Xzamilio
@Captain Obvious: I don’t know. I’m not bothered by the meme. It doesn’t diminish the power of this movie for me… of course many of the gay guys on here don’t even get the reference as it is, or even know what movie this is from. I mean they’re movies/miniseries, but they aren’t sacred… if people want to make memes, let them. I will say that it must be nice to be white in that you can make memes of predominantly black movies, use lingo/slang that is derived from “urban” settings, and then take that shit off and be white again… whenever you want.
Well, there’s my guilt trip for the week. Next stop… don’t care. Get off.
