During his recent speaking engagement at Drake University in Iowa, Republican presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul argued that it should be alright to fire an employee for being gay. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton isn’t having it. Check out her Twitter response below.

So happy to see Hillary Clinton come around to LGBT rights… doesn’t feel forced or for political gain at all. No, she’s a real advocate for us.
But in all honesty, if she gets the Democratic nomination, she’s got my vote. She is ten times better than any of the science lab abortions of candidates the Republicans are offering.
Billy Budd
Only a mad gay man would vote for the republicans.
AtticusBennett
Paul’s comments were astonishingly tone-deaf. he pretty much said “don’t make it known that you’re gay and everything will be fine” as if GAY is an “ACT” that we can turn on or off. it’s pathetic.
but hey, this is how Gay republicans get “tolerated” by their bigoted family and political affiliates: censoring, editing and compartmentalizing themselves. which is why they’re not respected by anyone, on the right or left. they’re too cowardly and don’t even respect themselves.
alphacentauri
Don’t be fooled Hilary is not actually for LGBT rights she’s just claiming that she is just because she thinks we’ll all vote for her. I’m going to vote for whoever is running under the green party.
1EqualityUSA
Don’t take a chance at having the Supreme Court made more conservative by wasting your vote.
Desert Boy
We must vote to protect the U.S. Supreme Court. While Hillary isn’t perfect, she will very likely have the chance to appoint two replacements to the High Court. Imagine the nightmare if conservatives are appointed to replace Justice Ginsberg and Justice Kennedy?
Guido Habets
Hillary Cunton will say anything to stay in the race. she wasn’t that forthcoming some time ago. Bernie was 40 years ago pro gay rights

@alphacentauri:Probably a republican plant. Most of us are intelligent enough to know that a vote for the green party, although possibly sincere and well meaning, is in reality a vote for the republicans. That’s partly why we had to put up with GW for so many years and we know how that all turned out. We know that Hillary is on our side – if you can’t see that you’re just not paying attention or you are ignoring facts.

YES! We cannot afford to have a Rebiblican prez.
Seems like a smart move by Clinton

While I agree with Hillary, I’m not sure the word “shatters” applies here.

@alphacentauri: She was slow to the party, but I believe she is genuine. A vote for anyone but the Democratic nominee only helps the Republicans. You are entitled to your vote, but in helping elect a Republican [as those who voted for Ralph Nader did in 2000], you only help to strengthen those who hate us. If you think a vote for HIllary does our community damage, you are very ill-informed.
Thomas Earl
Interesting time to be a log cabin republican with what little social good that renders . . must be the kickbacks . . it isn’t job security.
Giancarlo85
@alphacentauri: Bull f*king crap. I am just about tired of you republican plants trying to talk down Hillary, while you voice your support for the republican party.
Hillary is on OUR side and has PROVEN that time and time again. And if you hate people changing their opinions, then why would you even accept the public opinion shift in this country? People can change their minds and be supportive. That is the only way we won votes on same sex marriage in three different states (Oregon, Maryland and Maine). I do, however, believe civil rights shouldn’t be up for vote… but that is the way it went.
Sammy Schlipshit
@alphacentauri:
Me too.
Green party all the way….
Oh, what a wonderful, more productive country we would be with President Jill Stein.
Back to reality…..looks as though I will be voting for Bernie….smart, funny, rational, peacenik…..
Sure beats the heck out of Bilary.
Giancarlo85
@Sammy Schlipshit: Oh yet another republican plant.
Tell me when Bernie loses, are you still going to vote Green? You might as well tell the truth and admit you’re voting republican.
Sammy Schlipshit
@Giancarlo85:
Boy, what the heck are you goin’ on about?
Where did your prediction that I would ever vote for a republican’t come from?
I am liberal to my very core.
Get back on your meds.
Giancarlo85
@Sammy Schlipshit: You’ll vote for a republican or you’ll vote for a green (which is a thrown away vote). You are the one that needs to get back to reality. Your meds might be giving you delusions…

RRRRRRRalph Nader! = Bushels o’ trouble… It can happen again. If you think the SCOTUS is politically/religiously bent now, imagine if they slip a few more Scalias on the bench for lifetime appointments. Presidents come and go, ScaliAlitoRobertsThomas are barnacles hanging onto the hull, wearing out their welcome after a few decades. Hold your nose (if you must) and vote for the one who stands a chance at circumventing all of the dirty tricks the GOP throws. Jimmy Carter was a love bug, but was in over his head with the dirty tricks. Hillary’s on it and knows how to play the game. Women will play a role in her second term. SCOTUS is where the real power resides. Citizens United, Hobby-Lobby, gutting section 4 of the Voter Rights Act all serve to help Republicans get reelected. Don’t mess with this 2016 election, gents. It could go bad in a big hurry and there will be no turning back for at least 40 years. When Justices entangle themselves in GOP politics, corruption goes unchecked.
Jim McHardy
Very well timed
Giancarlo85
@1EqualityUSA: This is why I think we need to get Hillary the nomination. In the debate we all saw what she is capable of… just imagine Trump or some other republican idiot trying to debate her. Hillary is the only candidate capable of taking on the republican party. Bernie is a nice guy, but that doesn’t work in politics.
And just look at the way Hillary responds to all the air headed questions Republican congressmen try to ask her about Benghazi or the manufactured email scandal (even Bernie said that much).
Brian
And what has Hillary Clinton ever done for gay rights? During her husband’s stint as President, there was basically no progress. No progress on gay marriage, fake progress on military eligibility (DADT), and no progress on ENDA. Virtually no progress.
She has a gall to pander to the gay community considering her poor track record on gay rights.
Oh, and when was the last time Hillary uttered the “gay” word? Not through tweets or surrogates but with her own mouth? Is she afraid to use her own mouth to utter the word “gay”?
Message to Hillary: you’re not going to fool the gay community with your tweets and surrogates.
Giancarlo85
@Brian: What have you ever done for EQUAL rights? Absolutely nothing. All you do on here is say all gay people chose to be gay. Seriously fuck off.
Her track record is fine. Your track record on here, however, isn’t.
And it is clear. You hate women. You hate women with power because it is highly threatening to you. It all goes back to your issues with your mom.
She has done a lot more than you, Brian/Jason Smeds. You haven’t done shit except talk down to gay people you don’t like.

@o.codone:
Wow. Hate speech and racism. Still hanging out with Ann Coulter & Donald Trump?
DuMaurier
Personally, I vote pragmatically (best of the bad major party options), but the contempt I see here for those who vote their conscience without compromise (third party) is appalling. If the British had had that kind of thinking they’d still be choosing between Tories and Whigs. How do you think “third parties” become “major parties” (see: Labour Party)?
Again, I personally opt for the “practical” route, but I admire people who refuse to fudge their principles; and really, is it a good thing that the United States, of all the world’s electoral democracies, alone has shifted between just two institutionally approved parties for the last century and a half? What is that besides a one-party state plus one?
Giancarlo85
@o.codone: I’m a US citizen. Are you related to Timothy McVeigh by any chance? You’re a r*a*c*i*s*t homophobic bigot. You would fit right in with Stormfront and other white supremacists.
@DuMaurier: A third party vote would only mean something if there were coalition governments, like in Germany which has a powerful Green Party. The US system is set up in a way that makes third parties powerless and anyone who votes for them stupidly naive that their vote matters. Typically a vote for a third party is essentially a vote for the republican party.
If it wasn’t for third party candidates, we wouldn’t have had that asshole known as Dubya take power.
mujerado
@Brian: The most recent time she uttered it in public was at the Democratic debate. If you didn’t hear it, you either weren’t paying attention or you didn’t watch at all.
DuMaurier
@Giancarlo85: “The US system is set up in a way that makes third parties powerless”. That was my point about the last century and a half (I certainly don’t think the Repubs and Dems have had an alternating lock on political power because everyone loves them so much!) The difference is, you seem to be fine with that kind of institutionalized limitation on democracy, I’m not so thrilled with it.
And yes, any third party will at its inception draw votes from the major party that is ideologically closest to it, and very likely–at first, and maybe for a while–“throw” the election to the “other” party with values even more anathema to it. That’s the only way it can happen; you’ve got to bite the bullet and accept that if you want change, which never happens in an instant.
I do agree that the emergence of viable third parties is easier under a parliamentary system (especially if it has proportional representation), but there’s no absolute reason the same can’t happen under our system as well.
Giancarlo85
@DuMaurier: You can’t seem to read. I am not fine with that kind of institutionalized limitation on democracy. If you would bother reading what I have said in the past, I think a strong green party would be better for this country along with coalition governments.
That however will not happen considering who holds power. You shouldn’t talk for me please. That pompous behavior will get you nowhere on here.
DuMaurier
@Giancarlo85: I’m sorry, my snideness was uncalled for. But I maintain there is something weird when polls show how sick people are of both (R) and (D), and register “independent” in huge numbers and it’s still Dem or Repub every time. Even with all the institutional roadblocks it shouldn’t be and isn’t impossible to break away from the two-party lock. There just isn’t any organized movement to try (it would require tactical cooperation from different small parties that essentially loathe each other, I’d guess), and I think it would be so transformational it would be worth a few “thrown” elections.
Giancarlo85
@DuMaurier: I am going with what I see on the plate. The democrats are a decent enough choice and option. Just as simple as that. It is impossible to break away because of the way people vote in this country and the fact that third parties never have enough organization, power or money.
How sick people are of both R and D? No. People are mostly sick of R. Please, don’t act as if you’re above everything.

My view is that your devotion to Hillary is due to solitude. When one is all alone in front of the computer, one tends to think silly things.
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
You stated, “People are mostly sick of R(epublicans).”
Maybe in your world, but here on earth, Republicans are doing quite well with winning elections.
Republicans have a majority in the House of Representatives.
Republicans have a majority in the Senate.
Republicans have a majority of the state legislatures.
Republicans have a majority of the state governorships.
Yes, “sick” indeed.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: Dumbass reply from the ultimate dumbass.
First off, they only got that by mass voter suppression and low voter turn-out. The republicans will get shellacked in 2016. Just wait and see. They haven’t won a Presidential election since 2004. They pretty much forgot how to win them. Republicans are starting to look like shit in elections by the way.
Oh and the biggest states with the biggest economies are all democrat. Go fucking figure. Your pea sized brain didn’t figure that one out. The biggest state with the biggest economy (that would be the 7th largest in the world now) is entirely democrat.

Wait and watch republicans get fucking wiped out in 2016 and shellacked. They’ll lost the Congress completely.

If they Supreme Court didn’t push Citizens United through, I would believe more of the bravado that Mr. Wiseman spoke of in the comment above, however, they did, which is a tell as to how freaked the Rebiblicans are. The cheating and voter suppression is another indicator that this party is starting to tread water. They have abused their power and let greed overtake principle. Highjacked by nutters and in a tailspin over the deep. The third party is inevitable, though this GOP must be thoroughly thrashed into pulp and rendered obsolete. I could see four parties emerging. Big business cannot relinquish their interests in this country. They’ve made quite enough money in our current system. Our Country is innovative. We conjure up ideas that have others merely replicating our work. The ideas are what keep it fresh. Big business needs our freedom of expression to enhance their growth. The Republicans have so little faith in our system. Pillaging. It’s getting old.
Cam
@Alistair Wiseman:
The problem with you Log Cabiners is that you think you are smarter than other people. How embarrassing it must be for you each time you realize that isn’t true.
The GOP holds the House through Gerrymandering, even the RNC has acknowledged that by fighting against any fair boundary laws
But you keep on trying.
Now as for the Log Cabiners that keep jumping on thus post to attack Hillary, present your case as to why any Republican running us better for LGBT rights. If you can’t do that then that says a mouthful.
1EqualityUSA
Giancarlo85, I keep thinking of Madeleine Albright this year. You said, “just imagine Trump or some other republican idiot trying to debate her. Hillary is the only candidate capable of taking on the republican party. Bernie is a nice guy, but that doesn’t work in politics.”
The role Hillary Clinton played in the Obama administration will make debating her a challenge to the Republican candidates. She likely studied each country vigorously, knowing she would need to have understanding to govern appropriately. She likely studied, not with the idea of jumping over debate hurdles, but to actually make decisions that benefit our Country. She and Madeleine have a unique perspective to which Governors and Senators may not have had access. That job is amazing for someone interested in this Presidency. I wish the Domestic stuff could be handled by the Vice President, leaving the foreign policy to the President. Some of the younger candidates such as Mark Rubio sound as though they’re parroting stuff. It how he holds his forehead when he speaks of foreign policy that makes me think he’s on three wheels.

When has anyone ever considered David Brooks a Republican? Well, an organization like the New York Times would consider this RINO a Republican.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: You are a naive stupid fool. such a deep demented republican. Have you ever posted anything smart on here? Ever? When will you finally become logical. Conservatism isn’t healthy for the mind. It is a fungus.
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85: @1EqualityUSA:
@Cam:
I wish I knew half of what you three think you know.
So let me get this right…the Republicans hold all bases of power except the presidency (which will be determined again in a year) because of “gerrymandering”, “cheating and voter suppression” and “mass voter suppression and low voter turn out.”
First of all, gerrymandering is done by BOTH parties. No one has a monopoly on gerrymandering.
Second, low voter turn out? Really? An election is not determined by who didn’t vote. If one party is more motivated to get out and vote; good for them. Your point is irrelevant. If one person votes or every eligible voter votes, it is the votes that are cast that determine an election. Elections are not determined by imaginary voters that were too lazy to cast their vote.
Third, “cheating” and “mass voter suppression”. I find it rather ironic that the party who wants voter identification is the party accused of cheating and voter suppression. The Democratic party apparently wants people to remain in the shadows of society. They believe people are either too stupid or too lazy to get an identification card. The truth is, voter id it makes it harder for cheating to continue.
Since Obama has been president, Democrats have lost over 1000 state and national seats to Republicans. Yes, President Obama is quite inspiring (for voters to vote for the opposing party). Obama’s record for losses, at least through the 2014 midterms, is historically bad having overseen two horrible midterm elections for Democrats. Overall, Democrats during Obama’s presidency lost 11 governorships, 13 U.S. Senate seats, 69 House seats, and 913 state legislative seats and 30 state legislative chambers.
Now my question to you three is quite simple. With over 1000 Democratic seats lost, which of those seats was gained by “cheating” and “mass voter suppression”?
You have over 1000 examples, it shouldn’t be difficult because after all “people are sick of republicans.”
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
Giancarlo writes, “You are a naive stupid fool. such a deep demented republican. Have you ever posted anything smart on here? Ever? When will you finally become logical. Conservatism isn’t healthy for the mind. It is a fungus.”
Wow! That is deep. You really should become a professional writer. Your insight is so deep and profound.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: The nutcase is continuing his holier than thou quest, and we have to take his word as “proof”. This is the dementia he is suffering. All he can do is harp on about is the republicans controlling this and the republican controlling that. It doesn’t even seem to phase him that republicans can and will lose all of that in the next election and will likely not regain that back.
The republican party has gone so far to the extreme they are marking themselves into irrelevance.
“First of all, gerrymandering is done by BOTH parties. No one has a monopoly on gerrymandering. ”
STUPID RESPONSE. The mass majority of gerrymandering is done by REPUBLICANS, who are desperate to keep hold of states they are losing. Texas, if districted correctly, would be a democrat leaning state.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: “Second, low voter turn out? Really? An election is not determined by who didn’t vote. If one party is more motivated to get out and vote; good for them. Your point is irrelevant.”
STUPID FUCKING ANSWER. Low turn-out only helps republicans and is totally relevant. The fact that you are too inept to realize that is not my problem.
“: They believe people are either too stupid or too lazy to get an identification card. The truth is, voter id it makes it harder for cheating to continue.”
What a stupid response! For one, the republican party is deleting people off voting rolls. They have done that in the tens of thousands. They also have eliminated voting locations (especially in urban areas).
“Since Obama has been president, Democrats have lost over 1000 state and national seats to Republicans.”
Fudged numbers from the idiot with mental problems.
” it shouldn’t be difficult because after all “people are sick of republicans.””
IDIOTIC REPLY. You seem to have many of those today. Republicans are a party of fas-ci-sts and people don’t want that in this country. This country isn’t a theocracy. You’ll be fucking toast in 2016. Your party will be booted back to minority status in the Congress too.
Giancarlo85
Oh and for such a popular political party (in your sick demented world view, alistair dumbass)… the republican party couldn’t have come up with such shitty candidates to run for President in 2016.
Yep. The republican party hasn’t won a general election since 2004. The rest of what you wrote is stupid bullshit.
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
I didn’t ask for more of your rambling rhetoric.
You made several assertions and I’m asking you to back them up. Which you did not. You stated, “MASS voter suppression”. Back it up.
You have over 1000 seats where cheating and mass voter suppression supposedly happened, it should not be that difficult.
As for my “fudged” numbers, prove me wrong. You can do it, Mr. Facts.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: Again, he presented zero proof.
I guess your words are “proof”. You are just like a religious nutcase. You should start a church.
And yes, there is mass voter suppression. Al Jazeera had a wonderful story on that.
http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2012/10/20121022125746737657.html
You’re incredibly stupid and you keep going on about some fudged figure. I don’t need to disprove pink unicorns and the flying spaghetti monster. Come up with some proof… oh wait… you never have any!
Giancarlo85
And you can’t ask shit from me. Countless times, I’ve asked you to back up your statements and you never have done so. When cornered, you take off like a scared dog.
You have never backed up ANY ARGUMENT you have made on here, so you can’t possibly ask others to show you proof.
You aren’t special. You’re quite pathetic actually.
Alistair Wiseman
@Alistair Wiseman:
Apparently, you are unable to back up your statements. Well, this is not the first time.
You (and two others) made the assertion that the reason why Republicans have the Senate, House, the majority of state legislatures and governorships is because of cheating and “mass voter suppression”. Back it up.
Which of the 11 governorships, 13 U.S. Senate seats, 69 House seats, and 913 state legislative seats and 30 state legislative chambers should be Democratic instead of Republican due to cheating and mass voter suppression?
(FYI: Calling me stupid, idiot, etc. in no way backs up your argument.)
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: This mindless dipshit is asking me to back up my statements (when I just did), and he has never once posted a link. He expects me to take everything he says as fact. This idiot has major delusions.
Again some little shitty republican state doesn’t matter. States like California do. In California, democrat super majority. That’s why this state is managed better than every other republican state in the nation.
You have no facts and you haven’t posted any support to back up your arguments. STUPID HYPOCRITE.
I just posted about mass voter suppression. You have major mental problems.
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
No, you did not.
You made a claim and can not back it up. Which of the 11 governorships, 13 U.S. Senate seats, 69 House seats, and 913 state legislative seats and 30 state legislative chambers should be Democratic instead of Republican due to cheating and mass voter suppression?
Come on, Mr. Facts. Don’t try and pretend you answered the question. You made an assertion – BACK IT UP!
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: Again, this phony has not backed himself up. He just proves how much of a lunatic and hypocrite he is. Pulling numbers out of thin air… A mindless stupid dumbass.
I have already answered it. You fudge numbers, you do not back yourself up and you lie endlessly. Have you backed up anything here? Nope. I am calling bullshit. You are the one making assertions. Stupid republican drones. And he is proof as to why our education system is failing. He is grossly misinformed. Alistair is someone who should not be allowed to vote.
And yes I did post an article backing myself up. This clown has not posted shit.

Let them lose soundly in 2016, that will do the talking. If we provide beautiful Rachel Maddow segments about how Alabama is closing down DMVs in areas heavily populated by Democrats, he’ll just chide that the source, like David Brooks, is skewed. @Giancarlo85:
The actual number of seats is irrelevant to my initial post – which is the one you responded to.
I stated, “Republicans have a majority in the House of Representatives.
Republicans have a majority in the Senate.
Republicans have a majority of the state legislatures.
Republicans have a majority of the state governorships.”
You responded to this post with “mass voter suppression and low voter turn-out” I asked you to name specific seats that were ill-gotten. Crickets.
Instead, you decided to attack the numbers, which were posted later. That is not what you initially responded to, but still no examples from you. I have asked you numerous times to back up your statement and you give me an opinion piece from al Jazeera! Still no example, with over 1000 to choose from.
Okay, since you, 1EqualityUSA and Cam are unable to give me an example of cheating, voter suppression, etc. that challenges any of the over 1000 seats that have gone to Republicans, I will give you the sources for my numbers.
It first came to my attention by liberal “journalist” Cokie Roberts on the left-of-center This Week With George Clintonopoulos. The below link is from politifact.com after it was brought up. Politifact rated it as TRUE.
http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2015/jan/25/cokie-roberts/have-democrats-lost-900-seats-state-legislatures-o/
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
Here is a breakdown of seats lost state-by-state:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vrJo3OYWF96YuejPatLyxKhrGp4hLHorN6MGEvVMlNU/edit#gid=0
The information can be gathered from the National Conference of State Legislatures:
http://www.ncsl.org/research/about-state-legislatures/partisan-composition.aspx
Another source confirming the same information from Politifact.com:
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/house-races/223047-obama-has-lost-nearly-70-house-seats-since-taking-office
The bottom line it does not matter to you. There are all kinds of articles on the internet confirming this information over and over. It does not matter to you, you will attack both of these sources (which neither is partisan) and supply nothing to refute them. Maybe in your world Democrats hold the Senate and the House (which Obama lost after two years). Facts, reason and logic are only things that get in the way of your agenda.
1EqualityUSA
Now that we won our equality, all these bigots have no reason to break away from Faux News. The outcome will change. Save this, so you can refer to it after 2016.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: Turd bag is back at it. None of those articles you posted support a damn thing you have said. Take notice what is going up North. They say other elections can foreshadow what’s going on in this country. Whatever narrow majority you might have in the Congress will be gone next year.
Stephen Harper learned the hard way that conservatism is no longer appealing. Your narrowly controlled republican Congress has a 12% approval rating. Funny even with that narrow majority they can’t do shit. The House hasn’t passed one meaningful bill and continues to try to gut Obamacare (failure after failure). Democrats can stop everything republicans do, and what goes up must come down. You’re in for major losses in 2016.
Be prepared to lose everything. Stephen Harper’s conservatives got shellacked, and so will you next year.
I posted a quality piece from Al Jazeera which you proceeded to ignore. You are an idiot with very little mental power. We all get it now. Your articles don’t even back up what you’re saying and have nothing to do with my argument.
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:

While we have the majority, we need to normalize the bench. The religious loons are wearing out their welcome.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: Maybe you could actually try backing up your weak arguments? You ignored my source exposing massive vote fraud and disfranchisement by republicans.
You fail at everything. How does it feel to be a total failure at life?
1EqualityUSA
Wiseman has a sense of entitlement. His nibs demands that we provide him with articles (to be ignored completely.) There was a time when people would likely quake when he threw his weight around, but those days are over, he has time on his hands, so this Mormon takes to a queer website to make himself feel superior and demand answers. Rather than say, “This party is a pack of loons,” and switch, he continues to pull the cart, because his identity is inexplicably bound to these losers. Cult mentality rules his frontal lobes.

The Tedious Right may have underestimated our community. We have the ability to see stuff. We certainly have the ability to see through the b.s.

@Alistair Wiseman: @Giancarlo85: @1EqualityUSA:
You’ll all be interesting that Secretary of State of the State of Kansas, Kris Kobach has charged three (3) people with voter fraud. It seems they voted in two (2) different states. While illegal there was no plot between a married couple and a single man to commit the fraud.
Kobach has thrown out (36,000) voter registration forms.

thanks scotshot, it’s not unusual for the GOP desperados to rely on cheating to win. Do you remember the story of boxes of democratic ballots being found at the bottom of a river in Indiana. It was during the Bush fiasco. If anyone has that story somewhere, let it resurface. I want to read it again. Rachel Maddow’s done some fantastic segments on voter suppression.

@Brian: Not here to defend Hilary but why was Bill’s record in office also her record? Did she get a BJ from Monica too?
