In an unprecedented move, a priest known to have HIV has been appointed to a parish in the Church of England. This news comes as the worldwide Anglican Communion faces a split over roles of gays in church. An article in Britain’s Sunday Times states:
The man, who will take charge of a London church later this month, has been appointed by a suffragan, or assistant, bishop known as a backer of homosexual clergy.
Assistant bishop who’s a “backer” of homosexual clergy? That’s a charming way of putting it.
