Homophobe who cited nonexistent Bible passage about anal sex gets fact checked by over 5,000 people

According to her Twitter bio, Lisa Bedrick of Austin, Texas has a BA in English and a minor in “the Bible.” She loves Jesus and she knows Jesus loves her. Not only that, but “Christ lives in and through” her.

Yesterday, she imparted her wisdom on gay sex to her 2,075 Twitter followers, writing: “Homosexuality is not loving, it’s one person causing another person significant bodily pain and torture. A male penis was Never meant to be inserted into the anus, and it leads to tons of health issues if or when it is. Don’t be gay.”

Just to be clear, anal sex does not lead to “tons of health issues.” Sure, there’s always the risk of STDs. But those can be transmitted through any sort of sexual contact and are not exclusive to any one part of the body or gay men.

In 24 hours, Lisa’s tweet received over 1,300 “likes,” nearly 500 retweets, and over 5,300 comments. Let’s take a look at some of them…

After her tweet went viral, Lisa responded by following up: “I’m not anti gay people. I just want to make sure people know what the Bible says about homosexuality.”

We checked the Bible, and nowhere in it does it say, “Homosexuality is not loving, it’s one person causing another person significant bodily pain and torture.”

Nor is there a passage that reads, “A male penis was Never meant to be inserted into the anus, and it leads to tons of health issues if or when it is.”

Sounds like Lisa might want to brush up on her scripture.
