Police have arrested one man and are looking for another after they beat an unidentified 21-year for wearing pink pants. The sartorially-minded lad had just taken the train into Hoboken when the homo-hating duo started taunting him and eventually gave him such a pummeling that he needed twelve stitches to the face.
Of the incident, Garden State Equality’s Steven Goldstein said:
It is an outrage that this incident occurred based on the perception that someone is gay. We hope to see the criminals who tried to ruin this young man’s life receive many years behind bars.

Do you think that’s funny? You don’t need to report everything so tongue-in-cheek. It just makes you sound kind of stupid. This is a really horrible and scary story. You missed the chance to reflect on that and come off sounding, frankly, a tad under-educated.

But seriously, I agree with the previous commentators. Are you folks at Queerty so removed from everyday discrimination and hardship experienced by GLBTQIs outside the allegedly friendly confines of the gay ghettos of NY, LA and SF? Snark at bashing is inappropriate.

I think it is awful that this happened as a gay attack. I have to question though knowing that being gay is a stalking target in many situations. As a self respecting man, I would not even consider wearing a pair of pink pants in public.

I feel bad for the guy and what happened, but you never hear of some gay guy defending himself from his attackers. Hell, I did that last week & I have the bruises to prove it.

seriously guys, Allen is right. its really quite easy to win a fight, no matter how small you are. the key is to go completely crazy, never stop moving and take every cheap shot you can manage. and more importantly, go for the eyes! im not joking either. i’m 5’6 120 lbs and know from experience that this works.

Snark on all you want; I’m sick of homosexuals that take everything so seriously. These are the same guys that don’t want anyone to know about the Air Force rapist because it makes us look bad. We’re as human as the straights and we make as many mistakes as them; I would just hope that pink pants isn’t one of those mistakes, but that is that man’s prerogative.
Now, if you want to continue to lack all humor and be trigger happy with your judgment, feel free. But understand that the only person who said this had anything to do with “gay” is Steven Goldstein….
Ultimately, though, the joke that’s been missed her is that the attacker is a 19 year old high school student. I don’t know about any of you, but I graduated high school when I was 18, and I was old for my year…
