There’s really nothing like that very first time, when awkward fumbling and nervous excitement begets either ecstatic pleasure or embarrassing failure. Luckily, most of us get lots of chances to try, try again.
For better or for worse, everyone remembers their first time.
Here to take you back to those formative years are fifteen Whispers about that first time hooking up with a guy.

“I’m ashamed to admit my first gay experience was at a gas station glory hole.”
Well, there really is a greeting card for every occasion. Looking at those is like being in the world’s most lurid Hallmark store.

Would the very willing participation in some boy-fun with your 14 year-old boy cousin count as a “first time” gay experience?. I was 12 and loved it!
Garrett
My male cousin (6 months older) taught me how to jerk when I was 12. I panicked when it shot out. I thought I’d broken something. LOL.
money718
@Garrett: Lol. I think that is everyone’s reaction. I was like what in the hell?
Pete
I thought this was going to be about cyber hook-ups. I wouldn’t call my first time a hook-up since it was with a friend.
My first e-date, if you will, was during my sophomore year. The guy was so nervous that he squirted just as soon as I touched it!
Ladbrook
My first anonymous hookup was a standard bar thing. I was 18 and he was 32. Even though it was in the early 80’s I was absolutely convinced that he was recording it. Sometimes I still scan xtube vintage flicks just to make sure one isn’t of me.
TomMc
@Garrett: Not my cousin, but very similar experience 😉
Aromaeus
My first hook up was at a very young age

@Arconcyyon:
Did you just suffer a stroke? Or are you drunk? Or are you just mind-numbingly incoherent and stupid as hell?
Saint Law
@jockjack5: But enough about you. What did you think of Arconyyon’s post?
Stache99
@jockjack5: Naw. It talks that way all the time. It’s either a troll with a very weird sense of humor or like you say suffers from some mental disability.

my first time:
I wasn’t sure if I was gay, rightttttt! A female friend had a friend who was gay – he was out. She convinced him to have sex with me. Crazy!
goluboi
@jd2222248: I lost my virginity to this girl I was dating in college. Once she took me to this gay club in town, and she told me some of her gay friends asked her what I was like in bed. She offered to hook me up with a couple of her gay friends. I was so confused. Soon afterwards I graduated and I was so confused that I decided to study abroad in a really homophobic region so I wouldn’t have to deal with all these questions. By the time I came back to the States I had lost my gay virginity too :/
Brendan
Call me a skeptic but I sincerely doubt the guys that had their first hookup with their school superintendent or the quarterback of their football team. Seems like some guys have watched one too many pron flicks.
tdh1980
@Brendan: I concur. Though the bulk of them at least seem to be genuine, a few reek of adult-film fantasy.
musctop
@Brendan: My first sex was with my high school health teacher. It happens.
NoCagada
@Saint Law: And to think that “straight” married men do it all the time.
NoCagada
@Brendan: Hate to tell you…it happens. I had a friend in high school who blew half the football team (same guys who called him fag in school). Let’s just say, it’s NOT hearsay…I KNOW it as fact.
NoCagada
@Brendan: AND…my first lover “dated” his married gym coach for 2 years through high school. My ex would have been on the streets (father threw him out for being gay) if it was not for the coach.

A first time at gay bar hook up. It was terrible, when he found out it was my first time my sex partner critiqued my performance. It was very bitchy/petty and not at all constructive.I found out afterward the guy was a very bad drag queen (imagine Humphrey Bogart dressed as Marlyn Monroe).
Trippy
Oh God, here goes nothing:
I ventured into an adult bookstore in 1983. I had NO IDEA how that kind of thing worked but I’d heard that “gay things” happened there. So I went. 20 minutes later I was naked and some older stranger was literally fucking me. IN A BOOTH. I was horrified. To this day I can’t explain to myself why I let that happen. Talk about jumping into the deep end!
animatedgifman
@Trippy: Well, you certainly had balls (or were pretty foolish), Trippy. If my memory serves (and it usually does), by 1983, we were already hearing horror stories of the ‘gay cancer’ (then called GRID, but later renamed to AIDS). I by that time in history would have been absolutely petrified of sleeping with anyone who frequented such a ‘casual sex’ venue for fear of catching the death of me (literally). That having been said, my own first gay encounter was similarly casual in that I had never met my first gay partner before the day we had sex, although it was about a half dozen years earlier than your encounter. I was a 17 year old Navy boi fresh out of boot camp and some rather hot looking steroid hog (bodybuilder type) picked me up at a bar I happened to walk into only having been aware of the fact that everyone there seemed so ‘friendly’ to each other (had never heard of a gay bar before then). He offered to take me home for a ‘home cooked meal as you look like you could use a little more meat on your bones’. Little did I know he meant that in a literal sense, LOL. During dinner, I began feeling very groggy (am convinced he slipped me something) and he offered to let me ‘sleep off the night’s drinking’ for a while. I woke to find I was getting the most amazing BJ of my life and was on the verge of orgasm. I weakly attempted to pull his mouth off me, but he just pinned my arms and kept going down on me until the inevitable became unavoidable (and he kept doing it for about two minutes after I came) driving me absolutely crazy with pleasure. All in all, if I was going to be pseudo-raped (forced to perform against my will), I couldn’t have picked a hotter person to break me into the gay life. Later on the following year, after I was convinced I wanted to try gay sex again, I sought him out repeatedly, but never ran across that same jock again until almost 8 years and two lovers later. That night has occupied more than a few of my wet dreams and fantasies over the past ~38 years. 🙂

Mine was similar to the ‘Star Wars’ guy. Had gone home with an older, 24yr old guy that had a hang out in his parents basement. He yells up, ‘I’m here watching TV with a friend Mom. OK..” I swear to God the movie on TV was The Sands of Iwo Jima w/John Wayne. How/why else would I remember such a thing? He got on top for 69 but missed and I got his butt closer. As I’d been to LOTS of gay adult movie theatres, I did what I’d seen on the screen. He went bonkers. Then he F**ked me. I was more than ready for that too. All that jacking off thinking about it. FINALLY I’d done it. Had to wait until I moved to LA @ 21 to really get going. An apt in Chicago was still too close. Living near Home was never going to work. Not when Mom found out her Darling Baby Boy was Gay.
Trippy
@animatedgifman: You’re seriously going to shame me for what I did as a naïve, semi-closeted 19 yr old in 1983? Yes, I knew of “GRID” or gay cancer as it was often called, but in my small southern town, that scene was still being portrayed as something happening in NY and SF. All I knew was that someone (a man!) wanted to touch me. At that point in my life, I’d have probably moved in with him if he’d asked me to. I also remember a phrase that we tossed around a lot in the late 1980’s… “Pre-Rock and Post-Rock”. As I recall, the death of Rock Hudson in 1985 was earth-shattering. After he died, I changed everything. A lot of people did. Post-Rock was when it really hit those of us out in the provinces. Prior to that, we thought we were immune.
edfu
@Brendan: Not so at all. My first was with the captain of the basketball team, and it took place in the gym locker room. (He had the keys for when it was locked.) I was the captain of the cheerleading squad (all boys’ school). Some real-life experiences are exactly like porn!

@Trippy:
The innocent candor of your original post was refreshing, and therefore totally honest and believable. Your response to the shrill comment of animatedgifman was also accurate and illustrative of the mindset in the early 1980’s, specifically 1983. I vividly remember those days and you are so very, very accurate about the “Pre-Rock and Post-Rock” consciousness during that scary decade. Animatedgifman’s exaggerated sense of importance in scolding you was off-base and inaccurate for 1983, when all but those in NYC or LA were really aware of the AIDS virus. Additionally, as an ex-army veteran of the Viet Nam Era, I found his claim to be an enlisted Navy “boi” at age 17 to be highly dubious in the 1970’s, as it is my belief you had to be 18 to join the military back then, as it is today.

To that glory hole enthusiasist: You know the guy that was on the other side of the hole?
Yeah, that was me.

God, i haven’t thought about my first time in years. I was 17 i believe and he was 31. God his body used to drive me nuts. ha. It was awkward at first but was so hot. I think we did it for hours after. He was my french teacher’s husband. I met him when my car broke down and he stopped to give me a ride. That ride lasted two years.
jockjack5
@corkgui27:
Interesting.
What a ride huh…
Although not my first, I had a similar experience at about the same age grouping with a teacher that lived in my neighborhood. He wasn’t married, but he did give me a ride one day while I was walking to the mall. Our mutual gaydars went off during the ride and we ended up back at his house for some hot mutual groping, which eventually led to sex in short order.

@Trippy, don’t feel bad. Mine was similarly sleazy. In a way, though, this kind of sleazy story has acquired the romantic sheen attached to an older and more heroic era. Who among the younger set can still tell that kind of story nowadays?
Samuel R. Delaney has a fascinating book about his public sex adventures in the old Times Square, which I found very interesting reading and can highly recommend.

I don’t remember my first time. I was about twelve and he was thirteen. We just sort of grew into it. I suppose it depends on what is meant by “first time”, but I don’t recall a specific first.

My first time, I was 13 (I looked much older, I was able to get into bars/clubs without ID from 13) and met this guy in a club, he was 27. I told him I was 19 as I knew he wouldn’t go for me otherwise. After some drinks and flirting I made my move and kissed him (I was very brazen as a teenager) and we ended up dating. A few nights later we were on a date and parked up at the seafront, just chatting and having a laugh. We kissed for a while then I couldn’t hold it back any longer and went for his penis, I was horrified by the size of it, it seemed HUGE to me. Anyway we had sex after many attempts to loosen me up and it was great. A few days later I had to confess as he was a teacher and his new job was at the school I attended he hit the roof, understandably. In hindsight I feel terrible about it as I could have ruined this guys career/life but it was a great first time experience for me.

My ex-husband and I came out for each other, and for both of us our first time with a guy was with each other. It had been a couple of months building up to that stage, so when it finally happened, he was so excited that he came practically instantly when I went down on him. He was apologetic, seeing it as some kind of failure. But I was thrilled that he was so into it. And I will never forget that feeling of something just feeling, smelling, tasting, SO right.
