Little did we know that four features we were forced to remove (by our tech team, swear it!) several weeks ago were among our most popular. So we’re glad to announce that we’ve brought back view counts on our posts (to tell you how popular an item is, even if few people have commented on it), the ability to flag offensive and distasteful comments (so our editors can manually review them), embeddable images within comments (rather than just linking to them on the web), and the ability to @reply directly to a comment (providing a link to the original comment you’re replying to). If you notice any bugs, please let us know. And yes, the view count on most posts will be close to zero, since our system only just began counting views again. Sorry about depriving you of these features for so long, really!

Good news there, Team Qweerty. I got here after you removed those features, so they’ll be a first for me on this site.
Have noticed on other sites that the “leave a comment on a comment” app does seem to keep the longer discussions more readable. Flagging’s helps when things flame up and boil over. Not that that ever happens here!

Yeah, Im not buying the tech team excuse, but Im very glad functionality is back on the site, its been weird not having it this long. Good thing Queerty.

Thanks very much!! Though personally I’d gladly trade the image thing *and* page view counts for the ability to subscribe to a thread without posting in it. Just an idea for the next time you’re looking for changes to make.
By the way, when the features vanished you posted that you didn’t know why they weren’t working. Would it be all right to ask what happened?
@1EqualityUSA: Right under the ‘submit’ button, it says “You can add images to your comment by clicking here.” The link is not as useful as it might be: it asks for a URL and then puts it between IMG tags, which you could as easily type in yourself now that it’s allowed again.

@Fitz: “Ignore user” is mostly worthless even on regular message boards; the ones you most want to ignore always generate responses, which just makes the thread harder to follow without even clearing out the noise. On a site like this, where you don’t have to register, but can enter any name and address you like, it would be both completely worthless AND next to impossible to implement.
@terrwill: Fonts? Really? It’s easy to read and unobtrusive, that’s good enough.
