How Will GA Republican Gov. Candidate Karen Handel Defend Herself About Teaching The Gay to Teens?

Karen Handel, Georgia’s former secretary of state and governor hopeful, keeps getting slammed with claims from opponents that she’s too pro-gay. Which is a shame, because Handel wants everyone to know she hates homosexuals so much she never wants to see them married or have domestic partnership benefits or adopt kids. Isn’t that enough?!

Last time we saw Handel’s alleged pro-gay claims in political messaging, she was accused in mailers from John Oxendine that she donated money to the Log Cabin Republicans, so clearly she loves queers. Now fellow opponent Nathan Deal, who’s facing Handel in a run-off election, is out with the above smear ad, which says Handel used tax dollars to teach teenagers about anal sex, or something ridiculous. Snaps for making this feel all “Gathering Storm”!

Why do Republicans love stressing every syllable of HO-MO-SEX-U-AL-I-TY? It just makes them sound like they’re too slow to handle words with 3 or more syllables.

THIS is why I hate election season… it doesn’t matter how I vote, whichever of these two wins their runoff will be our next governor. On the bright side, Georgia’s *already* outlawed almost anything it can, so even if they choose to make this a campaign issue, there’s really not much along those lines they can actually do.

@Adam: Not only that, they mangle the word to “Homothsexual” some how they always insert a “th” into the equasion…..

These people are so reprehensive, vile, and despicable that it is beyond comprehension. Again and again the Gays are the only group where it is accepted and encouraged to toss hate and bigotry towards………..

The groups for teens is an attempt for them to find a safe place from the hatred and bigotry. Maybe prevent some of them from committing suicide. And the really fucked up part is that I truly believe many of these frightwing lunatics would have zero problems eliminating the funding for these groups to encourage that outcome……..

I really could not believe this ad when it came on TV! As a new arrival to GA and a citizen of a country that has legalized gay marriage (as most civilized countries have!) this ad borders on hate mongering and seriously should be investigated for criminal intent! Can you imagine if you inserted Jew or Black – the outrage! It speaks volumes on the nature of the Republicans and that fact that they are truly evil – using some twisted idea of Christianity to promote hate and fear to gain power for the corporate elite and military industrial complex.

@Hyhybt: And they have the nerve to call Atlanta “the city too busy to hate”! They weren’t too busy to send police on the raid of that gay bar.

Where’s General Sherman when you need him?

@Queer Supremacist: People keep forgetting that Atlanta is not the whole state. Were they running for mayor of Atlanta, this would not fly.
