A bizarre, but entirely plausible premise from Esquire‘s Stephen Marche insists the onslaught of True Blood, Twilight, and The Vampire Diaries is due to nothing more than “young straight women want[ing] to have sex with gay men. Not all young straight women, of course, but many, if not most, of them.” Does this reduce gay men to dead, blood-sucking monsters? Sure, but at least this scenario makes us attractive. Or at least Robert Pattinson-attractive. But will this theory be strengthened, or dismissed if two hot male vampires get it on with each other?

One of the pleasures of passing 40 is getting to watch a whole new generation of even more clueless spoon-fed media junkies than we were rediscover that the whole Vampire literary canon is just code for sexuality. What’s next? A breathless story about how flowing rivers are metaphorical for memory? Spare me.

Could someone at Queerty Towers please explain why the second link in that blog entry is for this page, not wherever they were evidently trying to link to?

the entire Anita Blake:Vampire Hunter Series is full of gay vampire sex, already been done. Obviously just hasn’t been as huge as the most recent vampire explosion…

I read somewhere that the whole “straight girls liking sensitive, effeminate guys” thing is because we’re all on the pill. Apparently, pregnant ladies find a different kind of man attractive than one who is looking (on the biological level) to get knocked up. Though it could just be the allure of the unattainable. No sex is safer than a sex fantasy.
