Weeks ago, you wouldn’t have been blamed for thinking Florida Gov. Charlie Crist would leave the GOP, and run as an independent for the U.S. Senate, given Republican Marco Rubio’s soaring popularity. This week, Crist made it official. And hours before his announcement, this memorabilia started showing up:

Like him or not (and there’s plenty of good reason for the GLBTQ community to not like him), he was spot-on to veto that abysmal teachers’ evaluation legislation. (That bill would have paveed the way for Jeb Bush’s wet dream of annihilating public education in Florida) And if that is what cost him his backing among republicans, then they need to have their asses handed to them in this senate race – if a third candidate splits things up enough to spoil the party for Marco Rubio, so much the better.

Who is the Democrats running for this senate seat? You’re not hearing much about their candidate. There doesn’t seem to be any via candidate out there. Crist is the devil’s advocate and Rubio seems to be the devil himself. Ugh…Florida.

@tjr101: You don’t hear much about the Democrats because Crist is already a national figure; when Rubio began to overtake him the media fixated on Rubio as the Tea Partier who was going to take down the Golden Child it is to much for the media to resist and waste time on other candidates. The Democrats front runner is Kendrick Meek an African American liberal representative, who is extremely pro-gay 100% rating from HRC and a supporter of, same sex marriage, the holy grail for many gays. May have been to liberal for Florida running head to head with a republican, but with Crist running as an independent he is polling very well and might be able to sneak into office like Scott Brown.

Alright. If this is a part of Crist’s coming out process, then I guess we have to prepare to accept this long-lost disgraceful member of our family. Things will be awkward, and we might not love him. But rejecting him may not be the best idea either.

I live in Florida. Charlie Crist has done everything in his power to harm gay people. He has specifically harmed me, and he did it intentionally. There is no way in hell I can support him.
