Illinois’ Republican Gubernatorial Hopeful Bill Brady Doesn’t Want Gay Marriage, Gay Civil Unions, Or Gay Protections

Republican voters in Illinois will champion State Sen. Bill Brady’s gubernatorial campaign, for it promises to to make tax increases more difficult and voting district redrawing harder for lawmakers. Oh, and he wants to ban gay marriage at the constitutional level.

Brady, who’s expected to take the GOP’s nomination for governor, announced yesterday he would push to ban both marriage and civil unions for gays and lesbians by passing a constitutional amendment. And as his own campaign website proudly notes in republishing a Chicago Tribune article, in 2005 he voted against adding sexual orientation to anti-discrimination housing and employment laws.
