Lady Gaga‘s new video for her song “You and I” has the lady done up about seven different ways and surrounded by sexy men, leather-strapped ladies, and her own cornfield coven (at least we hope it’s a coven… corn magic is the most powerful Midwestern magic of them all). It’s also got the sex scene you always wanted between Ariel and Prince Eric as well as Gaga making out with her male persona Joe Calderone. So what if it sounds like country rock?

It’s like Marilyn Manson lip syncing to Kenny Chesney

All kinds of random things and scenes put together. As usual.
I know what to expect from Lady Caca. Pure senseless randomness.
Yawn. Ok.

*ignores old bitter fags above.
I would go “straight” for Jo, but Gaga and her “Hous” need to make their music videos easier to understand without an explanation.
Bryan
@Red Meat: Then it wouldn’t make you go wtf and watch it like a 100 times trying to figure it out for yourself, then saying fuck it and just googling online for an explanation instead.
Strange that there was no usual snark to accompany this, I’d have thought this would have been the perfect chance.
Thomas
@Toro …that awkward moment when you hear a person tell the same joke over and over. How many blogs are you going to leave the Manson/Chesney comment on? At least shake it up on each site. Nina Hagen singing Dolly Parton. Leigh Bowery singing Sugarland. Bjork singing Kid Rock. See, anyone can do it.
nineinchnail
God god hasnt this woman died yet. F…ing hate the copycat b.tch.
jason
Lady Gaga is a media whore who faked her bisexuality in order to appeal to sleazy straight guys and not to help the GLBT cause. Nuff said.
jj
why is she making you and i a single? its one of the worst songs on a bad album. Shes just asking for this to flop like judas and hair.
ChrisC
@jj: ‘Hair’ was only a promo single.
Jem
@jason: And since when was it revealed that she “faked” her bisexuality? Source, please.
Thomas
@jason:
She doesn’t help the LGBT cause…..?
She has preformed at our charity events (AMFAR, HRC dinners). She marched on Washington, then gave a speech demanding equality, and called it the most important moment of her career. She held her own rally in support of the repeal of DADT where she gave a beautiful and passionate speech. She urges her 12 million twitter followers to call their senators whenever an LGBT legislation is up for vote. She is the first artist to ever have the word Transgender on the radio. She made her television debut on LOGO. She has worked with Cyndi Lauper to raise money for AIDS prevention/awareness, making millions of dollars for the MAC AIDS Fund. She included a trans person in her Telephone video. She wrote and recored her first protest song, Americano, about gay marriage. She brought soldiers discharged under DADT to the 2010 VMA’s. At both the 2010 and 2009 VMA’s she thanked the gay community for their support while accepting her awards. That is all I can think of off the top of my head…
She uses her fake bisexuality to appeal to sleazy straight guys? I think you have her mixed up with “I Kissed A Girl” Katy Perry, who’s first single “Ur So Gay” was easily more offensive to the LGBT community then anything GaGa has ever done.
I don’t know if she is really bisexual or not, but she claims she is and who am I to say she isn’t? It’s also easy to label any famous person a media whore, when it’s actually the media that has become the whore.
But what I do know she is more active in supporting the LGBT civil rights movement then any other pop artist ever has been. I would say she is one of the most important activist the gay community has in their corner. You do not have to like her or her music, but stop leaving your shitty negative comments on every queer blog.
Gay rant over.
Adam
Love it and love the Gaga!
Jack
Love it really cool music video not what I expected! love the song too it’s way better live though
Vevar
@Thomas: THANK YOU!!! I COULDN’T HAVE SAID IT BETTER … MISERABLE OLD QUEENS -.-
Adonis-of-Fire
All the Gaga haters are either fans of Christina Aguilera or Madonna and are mad as hell that since Gaga appeared their faves were thrown out the window
Alex
Damn – who’s the male model in the video? Nice.
Michael
@Alex:
That would be Taylor Kinney :)Love Gaga proud to be one of her little monsters.
Jeff in NYC
@Thomas: Thanks! Couldn’t have said it better myself!
Michael
One thing id like to know though are are half of these males in gagas videos gay friendly to begin with? Not the gay ones of course I mean the MODELS she always puts in her videos at some point.Taylor Kinney is a straight actor but ive never heard him say anything about being gay friendly.Just curious is all sad thing is half these dudes we drool over hate our guts and we disgust them to begin with.
Red Meat
@Thomas: Amen gay brother!
Allen D.
Guess what, bitches? You’re going to be old someday too.
Now I’ll go back to my Gaga hating world. Bitter at the ripe old age of 32. Again, just because you’re gay doesn’t mean you have to like the bitch.
Fuck her.
And before that unleashes a bunch of stupid flaming — there are also gay people in my daily life that I don’t like. Just because someone is gay, or “gay friendly” or whatever doesn’t make them any better or worse in my eyes. Their personality and how they conduct themselves is what determines my opinion. I think she makes an ass of herself constantly. And her new album absolutely sucks.
Eminent Victorian
Production values are not the same as talent or originality, neither of which this woman displays in anything she does. That doesn’t mean she’s not entertaining. She’s harmless, although the sheer amount of swiping she does is kind of appalling. I suppose she claims she never saw Bette Midler’s acts or a Eurythmics video, either.
Vevar
@Allen D.: of course you don’t have to like her because u’re gay but at least appreciate what she’s done for our community (and if you say she hasn’t done anything for our community you’re lying) and Born This Way was a great album … you’re taking a biased view towards it. I’m a gaga fan and i try to step out of the fan thing for a while and look at her music from an unbiased point of view and what i’ve observed is that the composition, the range of genres and lyrical content of the album are on point… so although you may not like the album does not mean that it is awful. 🙂
Vevar
to all the haters…… jesus christ u would think gaga came and killed your families or something jeez cool it down…. she hasn’t done you anything 😀 peace and love
Allen D.
@Vevar:
A calm and reasoned response to someone not liking Gaga?? I’m really quite surprised. Thank you for that.
From a musical perspective, I think the layering on “Bad Romance” is actually pretty awesome (coming from someone who’s worked with several electronic / industrial bands over the years).
More than anything, I get riled up on the Gaga topic because of comments like “ignores old bitter fags above” get under my skin. When she first came out, honestly it was her fans that made me biased against her. The attitude that you basically HAD to like her – PERIOD. It was (and still is) obnoxious.
Then after noticing the layering, etc in “Bad Romance” (in a grocery store I think), I thought “hmmm. Ok, maybe there’s something here”. So, I downloaded the first album, came to appreciate a couple songs… and then “Born This Way” came out, leaving me going “well, maybe I was right the first time”.
@Eminent Victorian – I have to give props to anyone who can sing & play the piano simultaneously.
All in all, I’m glad to see more Gaga dissent than there used to be on here. Long live the revolution!
Nice Sean (formerly Sean, and Sean from england.)
@lady gag: Just because you don’t understand or enjoy the videos, don’t be a whiny ass little bitch. Just ignore stories about Lady Gaga, and keep your dullness to yourself.
I suppose I have to remove the “nice” from my name now.
Also, loved it.
Allen D.
@Nice Sean (formerly Sean, and Sean from england.):
I think there’s a place for the voices of dissent. Lest anyone who scans these comments think “oh, all the gays LOVE Lady Gaga!”… because we don’t.
Lefty
@Vevar: “of course you don’t have to like her because u’re gay but at least appreciate what she’s done for our community”
Okay, but also everyone who makes this point should appreciate what we’ve done for her. ie. given her millions of dollars and promoted her far more than any other group has. Without the gay community she’s be nothing, yet I keep reading gay people arguing that just because she’s “pro-gay” and vocally so then we can’t criticise her or dislike her. That notion that we must silently and uncritically accept any straight person who “supports” us is so unbelievably submissive. If she genuinely supports LGBT rights, then she doesn’t do so in order for us to adore her uncritically or to buy everything she puts out; she does it because she thinks it’s the right thing to do. And she would still do that, even if every single gay person in the world admitted how crap and predictable she’s become.
If she supports LGBT rights, she supports LGBT rights. And if her music is substandard, then her music is substandard. The two are entirely unrelated. 🙂
Jon
I don’t understand how all her outspoken-ness equates as using our community when she has done more in speaking for us than any of our other “icons”. I mean, isn’t Brittany a Republican? Dolly Parton kinda ignores us, doesn’t she? I mean, I actually don’t really care what those last two women do or don’t do for us but to say Gaga is faking it… well her fake has done more for as than any other pop0-icon’s honesty has.
Chaz
“This video is private”???… what a shame I was looking forward to seeing it…
Not Nice Sean
I can’t stand that phony bitch. Go away you overrated and overexposed attention wh@re.
fredo777
Lady Gaga a flop? lol I should be so lucky to “flop” as successfully as she has. Love her or hate her, the bitch can sell records.
Sam
I miss Madonna. GaGa has catchy songs but wtf is the message behind all of this? At least Madonna’s visuals could be just as powerful as her music
evanb
Such flaming vitriol about a pop musician! If the gay community could get as worked up about politics and civil rights as we seem to do about whether Gaga or Madonna is better, we could do some serious social change. Don’t like Gaga’s music? Don’t listen to it, don’t go to her concerts, ignore her videos. What earthly good does it do to post snarky attacks here? Think Madonna was a great artist thirty years ago but lacks a certain relevance now? Think Madonna and Gaga both ripped off Cher? Fab; listen to CDs and believe in life after love, and be happy. I don’t see Gaga posting nasties about you; leave the girl alone for heavensake if you don’t like her music. And if you do, enjoy it–but maybe consider that she might not be the greatest genius since Bach or the gay community’s key to equality, cuz it just sets people off.
Inspector X
Is it me or did she just riff on Badlands when they showed the drag and very plain version of Lady Gaga? They just look really similar to Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek.
Elloreigh
@Red Meat: This “bitter old fag” has a message for you:
One day you will be ‘old’, too. Hopefully you’ll mature some in the intervening time. Just because someone doesn’t like the things you like doesn’t mean that person is bitter. It means people have different tastes – regardless of their age.
I’m nearing 50. I actually like some of Lady Gaga’s songs. I appreciate her advocacy on our behalf. That doesn’t obligate me worship her or adore everything she does.
This song isn’t to my taste. If you like it, fine. We’re both entitled to our opinions – (even your childish opinion that I’m a “bitter old fag” for finding this song/video to be “meh”). Holding that opinion doesn’t make you superior, though. Maybe it somehow makes you feel better about yourself to publicly disrespect others and treat them as your inferiors?
Whatever. As far as I’m concerned, the only thing you’ve proved to us is that you have some growing up to do.
Elloreigh
@Nice Sean (formerly Sean, and Sean from england.):
No one has any obligation to refrain from criticism of Lady Gaga just because some people adore her. If you don’t want to be exposed to that criticism, then don’t read comments on blog articles about her.
Elloreigh
@Adonis-of-Fire: “All the Gaga haters are either fans of Christina Aguilera or Madonna and are mad as hell that since Gaga appeared their faves were thrown out the window”
What ridiculous twaddle. It’s possible to like or hate all three. All three have done things I like, and things I don’t like.
While the etymology of the word ‘fan’ isn’t entirely clear, it is obvious that some people are just plain fanatical in their devotion to a particular artist. I have no use for such mindless adoration. If you’re incapable of offering even a shred of criticism of an artist, nor of allowing others to offer theirs without getting riled up and making childish retorts, then you have a serious problem.
Henry
Daniel, since the video is private, would you replace it with the official video here? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9YMU0WeBwU
Thanks.
NateB79
Smoking hot guys though, and they’re almost neked…nice.
NateB79
On a side note, Gaga as a dude totally looks like Adam Goldberg. I’m really not sure who should be more upset by that. http://www.superiorpics.com/hs/adam_goldberg/main1.jpg
Bryan
@Elloreigh: I think you need to relax, I don’t think the “bitter old queen comments” that were aimed at some people above refers to you. All you posted was “meh” which I think was a measured and civilized comment. I think bitter old queen was in reference to the more vitrol filled comments, calling her bisexuality fake, that she’s using the gay community, Lady Gag-gag and all that.
Vevar
@Lefty: yes of course she must be grateful for us as well but she has done that by showing us support…… she has acknowledged at the beginning of her career that if it wasn’t for the gay community she wouldn’t get airplay… and as i said you don’t have to worship at her feet but the thing is queerty and a lot of queerty’s readers attack gaga every single time for no specific reason … therefore the reason gaga fan’s hav e to get aggressive because it’s like every single minute everyone wants to say something about gaga and they just can’t sit back and enjoy the music or just get up and leave 🙂
Little Kiwi
you gotta love the guys who choose to let everyone know how much they can’t stand Lady Gaga. It’s so funny. I didn’t dig her first two albums, I’m just not a fan of dance music. but LORD do I love this lady and all that she’s doing – it aint for me, but it sure is inspiring and empowering millions of people, especially youth.
the new album? fun! great 80’s vibe. i dig that.
the guys who are saying “she’s using our community!” haven’t a freakin’ clue what they’re talking about. in case y’all haven’t noticed, she’s not just the biggest thing “with the gays” – she’s the biggest thing in music right now. PERIOD.
meaning MOSTLY STRAIGHTS. so yeah, millions upon millions of straight folks not only dig her, but are hearing her message of diversity and beauty.
so, to all those who can’t stop talking about how much you dislike Lady Gaga I have but one question:
what the fuck did YOU do today to help make the world a more accepting place for LGBT people?
yeah. exactly.
the wimpy-assed guys who are so fucking insecure about being gay, you don’t want your bros to think you listen to Gaga because your bros make fun of Gaga-gays. Wimps. Stop wasting your lives looking over your shoulder worrying what The Straights are saying about you. Gaga doesn’t make us look bad. You cowards make us look like wimps.
grow a pair.
nineinchnail
@Allen D.: +1. You hit the nail one the head!!!!
Jeff in NYC
@NateB79: I was actually going to post that exact same thing. It’s entirely creepy…maybe because I find Adam Goldberg kinda creepy?
Red Meat
@Elloreigh: Yep, you sound like a bitter old fag to me. Glad you were able to learn how to use a computer.
And yes I will be old one day, but not bitter and I hope I will not talk pointless shit like you.
Oh yeah, bow down to me! You are inferior to me.
