Internal Dispute.

By Andrew Belonsky July 25, 2008 at 5:07pm · 21 comments

A reader tells us of some drama on Logo’s end: “So, the executive producer of CBS News on Logo, Court Passant, has a Facebook page. Earlier today, listed under what he was doing, was ‘Hating those Logo assholes’. It went out to all his hundreds of friends. I hear people on Logo’s staff saw it, and chewed him out.” Well, people generally don’t like being call assholes.

    Weird.

I rather enjoy CBS News on Logo (I watch in 365gay.com), so I hope it sticks around for a little while longer.

    What is a LOGO?

If “asshole” means uptight corporate queers, he’s dead on. As part of a big media corporation, the programming on LOGO is so “safe” it’s boring.

LOGO isn’t serving the community, it’s just niche marketing by a big corporation.

Why does the programs suck so much ass at LOGO when we know they have all the money in the world? Why have their ad rates reached an all time low? It is dullsville. The music videos are the biggest joke of all. Just utter fucking crap.

The parent corporation (Viacom/MTV) sees LOGO as a niche place where they can sell to advertisers. Nothing wrong with that , but they decided not to stick any money into programming. Remember a couple years back they announced this slate of new comedies and dramas. some of them sounded great. But LOGO is moving along the BET theory rather than the original announced plan. They don’t want to put money into anything. More than that, when tye do it’s very much along the lines of gay ghetto mentality shit. The way they see it- and they are probably right: You don’t have to create content because the minority audience involved will accept anything. That was the case with BET. it made Johnson into a billionaire showing hoochie mama videos and reruns.

Oh- and I don’t blame LOGO as much as others do. I mean I think its crap, but its also not like gay audiences aren’t demanding more than the same story that have been done for a long time. I would love for a show in which the gay part was subordinate to other stories. Although its crap most of the time, at least Here TV has the right idea with its everyday gay heros series- like with the gay detective series. I just saw that with a friend this friday. It wasn’t half bad. It was actually pretty good. Mos tof thier content is shit too, but again the detective idea wasn’t bad. Thre are only so many coming out stories, my parents don’t know I am gay stories, I am a hustler with a heart stories, etc that I can take.

man, i was soooo excited when LOGO came out. Then I realized how the station repeats stuff over and over and the programming sucks.

The only thing I really ever watch on that channel is Queer as Folk reruns. Otherwise, I forget LOGO exists.

Actually, I quite like Logo’s programming, particularly their short film series. Plus, they play a lot of great music videos, more than their cousin, MTV.

I have worked with the powers that be at Logo and I would have to agree with Mr. Pasant’s opinion of many of the people running the channel. They don’t know what they are doing. Many don’t even have that much experience in TV. You would think MTV would have made sure to hire a strong team to work on such a groundbreaking channel. Instead they were just about hiring gay and not necessarily GOOD employees. I have heard from insiders that they have had major turn over in their staff and what is left are the ones who aren’t so qualified. The good ones have left. Also, for a company that promotes “diversity” I the exec halls of Logo are very white and there are just a few token people of color in jr. roles. very sad.

Assholes abound at LOGO. I should know I used to work there. The revolving door staff turnover could dry a gal’s hair like the summer sun. It’s a balmy steamy bath of bullshit.

Having watched Logo for its first 2 years (I gave up after it became all about lesbians) I have to say that CBS News is the only show they had going for it. CBS working with Logo really said to me that the channel was being taken seriously. Unfortunately, the rest of the shows weren’t of the same caliber.

what kind of executive goes on Facebook, calls his bosses assholes, and expects not to get in trouble. bet he’s up shit creek.

    sounds like hypocrisy to me.

I hooked up with a guy online from Logo’s LA office who goes online trolling for guys and lets everyone know that he is an exec for Logo as a way to score. He actually had his title listed and the company name. I also have a NYC friend who worked at Logo freelancing and said that the office was always buzzing about a lesbian exec sleeping with some new hire that quickly moved up due to putting out. Pissed a lot of people off who just wanted to do their work.

I’m confused? So calling some an “asshole” is worse than people actually acting like “assholes”? Sounds like the term “asshole” should be expanded to “hypocritical assholes”.

LS, that sounds like sexual harrasment. I work for corp america and I had to sign an agreement that says I will abide by corp. policy. (harassment is a violation) I guess at Logo anything goes. Doesn’t Viacom care about the gays being sexually harassed? I can’t believe if a male exec slept with a female underling if it would be acceptable. Why the double standard?

Wow! That’s some crazy ass drama going on behind the scenes. Sounds more interesting than what is on the air. I’m better off being closeted and working with a bunch of straight dudes than dealing with the box of crazy at Logo.

it’s a fucked up place. i worked there last summer and a bunch of us went to HR and told them how a VP was sleeping with a production assistant who reported to her. it was obvious to everyone in the office….the women even dressed alike. nothing was done about it. last i heard they both were still with Logo. i always thought this kind of behavior was unacceptable. i eventually quit because i wasn’t about to play the game of sleeping with a boss to advance.

i had a short stint there too. there is blatant favoritism in the logo offices. you are either apart of the power club or you are not. a former valet becomes a producer. assistants become managers. yet it is impossible for a sr. director to become a vp. logo is one of most disfunctional mind-fucking companies to work for.

noone is there to do their job, just to stomp over the next for a promotion.

Sounds like a bad day on the playground where all the kids who have been left out are now so desperate to be part of the “in crowd” that they will do anything. People need to grow up. is there anyone running the show over there?? Whose in charge?

OMG I work there now and all of this is true! Also there’s riots in the halls every afternoon, there was an assassination attempt on one of the VPs last month, and I heard the Head of Talent drinks human blood!

    July 30, 2008 at 12:07pm
  • Brian

PT, it is obivous that you don’t work at Logo or you wouldn’t be joking about such a serious matter. Not to mention, Logo doesn’t have a Head of Talent. Someone who works there would know that.
