In case you haven’t heard, Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey last night amidst rumors that the bureau’s investigation into the president’s ties to Russia were heating up bigly.
According to Team Trump, the termination had absolutely nothing to do with Comey’s investigation of Trump’s relationship with the Kremlin and was instead done at the recommendation of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosentein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who, BTW, was supposed to have recused himself from any investigations involving Trump/Russia after he was caught lying under oath about his own ties to the Kremlin.

So last night, Kellyanne Conway came out of hiding to appear on CNN and lie, er, speak to Anderson Cooper about everything. She spent several minutes talking in circles, accusing Cooper of “looking at the wrong set of facts” and being “unkind,” and insisting the Comey’s firing was about his mishandling of the Hillary Clinton‘s emails. (Remember those?)
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
“As a candidate, Donald Trump praised James Comey,” Cooper reminded Conway. “Donald Trump talked about this on the campaign all the time. All of sudden the White House is concerned about James Comey’s handling of Hillary Clinton’s email?”
To which, Conway replied: “You’re going back to the campaign. This man is the president of the United States. He acted decisively today.”
“That makes no sense,” Cooper shot back. “He said one thing as a candidate and now he’s concerned as president?”
“It makes complete sense,” Conway argued, incoherently. “Because he has lost confidence in the FBI director.”

Cooper replied with one of the most epic eye rolls ever caught on live television. And you better believe the internet took notice. Let’s see how people have been responding…
First, there’s the folks on Twitter…

Let’s hope the Comey firing will finally be the end of Trump’s honeymoon with the fawning press.
batesmotel
Something obviously shifted for the director to be fired. Just because someone liked you last year, doesn’t mean they won’t fire you this year if they see you’ve been under performing.
captainburrito
ie. investigating Trump so Trump fires him. What a great way to restore public confidence by sweeping sh1t under the rug. Bit like Japan vs Germany’s treatment of WWII.
DCguy
You want to know what changed? Trump thought Comey was on his side because of what happened with the Clinton e-mails last year. Then he flipped out because he couldn’t believe the guy was still moving forward with the Russian Collusion investigation in spite of the entire GOP acting like a Criminal enterprise and trying to block it.
So he fired him.
And the GOP will support him, because lining their pockets and the pockets of their donors is all that matters now, and they don’t care if they have to sell out America to a foreign enemy to do it.
gayjim1969
Presidents don’t get to make policy shifts or fire FBI directors because something vague caused a shifting in their heads, leading them to distrust the director. The American people have the right to know exactly why just a month ago–according to Sean Spicer–Comey had the total confidence of Pres. Trump, yet the rationale used for his dismissal is nothing new from that which has been dug up by Republicans since 2016.
The facts that Kellyanne Conway can provide no more insight–shocking–into the president and the DOJ’s reasoning, falls back on deflections and calls others unkind for asking legitimate questions, serve only to raise more suspicions regarding the timing of this action. If there are specific, valid reasons for the timing of Comey’s firing, then present them; that is all people want. I expect there will be none forthcoming.

Quick anti-lgbt pro Trump trolls! Hurry and come on here and talk about how Anderson Cooper is a HUGE sexist bully for not pretending to believe Conway lying to him while being paid to do it by our tax dollars!
wmca_goodguys
We’ve been “laughing at” Anderson Pooper for a long time because he calls himself a “journalist’.
gayjim1969
And many here are laughing at your infantile attempt at–a joke, or a put-down? It’s hard to tell since it doesn’t work as either. Do your parents know you’re using the computer again? Did you do your addition and subtraction homework yet?

Awwww, how adorable, our resident anti-lgbt Trump Troll came up with a new screename.

@DCguy
You seem to enjoy trolling just as much as he does. All you do is go around this site complaining about other posters.

Who’s “we”?

It was so nice while she was in her cave. Why did they have to bring her out again? I would refuse to interview her like one network did. Anderson must enjoy this (it is entertaining if it wasn’t for our country going down the drain)
da90027
Is it just me or Did Kelly Anne look stoned, drunk or meth’d out last night? She looks like she was rode hard and put away wet decades ago.

Why do the Networks keep on bringing this horrid Lizard haffa on air? The woman looks like a vampire who’s been locked in the basement for a 1000 years before escaping.
mhoffman953
I thought Anderson Cooper had more class than that. Imagine if this was FOX news and a female Clinton campaign staffer was on and one of the male FOX news personalities rolled his eyes as she spoke. I guarantee that the left would call him a misogynist and want him fired.
James Comey was well overdue for being removed from his position. He fumbled as the FBI director too many times in regards to the handling of cases to his public statements.
Xzamilloh
What did he fumble on? Because Trump could have listed one of those fumbles instead of listing a reason that SCREAMED hypocrisy, given that he was practically blowing his load over how Comey was investigating Clinton, and now all of a sudden it’s grounds for dismissal. And given the romper room nonsense that Fox News paid millions to cover up, an eye roll at a female would be welcome, and likely would be aimed at a homely looking Clinton campaign staffer. We can agree on some things, Hoff, but cut the crap. If Trump can grab consensual p*ssy, Cooper can roll his eyes to stay afloat the manure coming out of that woman’s double sided mouth.
mhoffman953
If I remove myself from who I voted for and which party I side with (as you should too), you can clearly see how Comey was incompetent in his job.
James Comey first fumbled on the Clinton email investigation in July. He is an investigator and not a prosecutor YET he held a press conference giving the verdict on Hillary’s emails. This is something the DOJ should’ve done after he presented them with evidence from his investigation. Instead he says even though she violated several statutes and mishandled classified intel he won’t bring charges – again not up to him. He then goes into everything she did wrong – again not something an investigator does publicly.
Next was the October email situation. He handled that very poorly and should’ve gathered more intel before coming forward. Of course Trump and Republicans would praise it because Hillary was Trump’s political opponent at the time. I would’ve done the same in his shoes but it doesn’t mean the FBI director was competent in his job. If the roles were reversed and Comey did it to Trump, you can guarantee the Hillary would’ve been “blowing her load” as you put it and clung to that leading up to the election. Nothing wrong with that, its just the competitive nature of the election.
Third, there have been reports that the staff at the FBI (for the most part) lack confidence in his ability to lead. Any time this happens in law enforcement, they typical oust the chief who runs the bureau.
Lastly, he has made inaccurate statements regarding Huma Abedin’s handling of classified information.
Those are just things I can recall right now. If you take yourself out of partisanship, you can clearly see the man is not competent. I’m sure you are a Democrat and probably a liberal, Xzamilloh. Why would you want someone that mishandles investigation and misspeaks to handle future investigations?
DarkZephyr
@mhoffman953 But none of this is stuff Trump had a problem with til now, all of a sudden, out of the blue, while Comey was investigating him for collusion with Russia. THAT is what people have a bugbear over.
mhoffman953
@DarkZephyr
And I explained why Trump wouldn’t have had a problem with it during the election, just as if the roles were reversed, I’m sure Hillary wouldn’t have had a problem either.
James Comey did a very poor job in the past. He was riding on thin ice.
Back in October, Democrats accused him of helping Trump and covering up the “Russia connections”. If they truly feel he was helping Trump and covering stuff up, shouldn’t they be glad he’s gone? The guy taking over right now is a guy who has financial connections to Hillary Clinton. Shouldn’t Democrats be happy about this?
Bob LaBlah
I could not agree more with the firing of Comey. The man was clearly a self serving ass himself and had the nerve to talk about both Clinton and Trump. You don’t go public days before an election with b/s not knowing the effect it was going to have on the election. You don’t go before the Hill without concrete proof of your allegations regardless of your personal feelings toward a man neither you or half the American public now despise. Your outta there Comey thanks to no one but yourself.
Zakaroo
I’m sorry, but as a liberal Democrat, I still respect the Presidency and WOMEN. For Anderson Cooper to ROLL HIS EYES at Kelly Ann is totally misogynistic and would be totally criticized and lambasted by the media if it were a conservative media commentator interviewing a liberal, e.g., Valerie Jared. Bad Form, Anderson, and unprofessional. Added to that, YOU DON’T HAVE TO LIKE Donald Trump to at least respect the Office of the President of the United States. We Democratic liberals don’t have to be totally disrespectful and can at least listen and be respectful of opposing views, as we would expect from the conservative side of the bench. “Do unto others and you would have them do unto you.” Respect and honest listening works both ways.
Xzamilloh
I agree that it would likely have been criticized and called misogynistic had Cooper been a conservative and Conway been a liberal, but it’d be just as stupid and intellectually lazy to call it that, because all one has to do is listen to the verbal diarrhea coming out of that woman’s mouth to realize that it’s not the vagina he’s rolling his eyes at –although he’d probably be creeped out at one in his face lol — but the nonsense she is saying. There are most definitely unsavory elements to us on the left that have hijacked liberal principles of sorts, but I’ll forgive Anderson Cooper this transgression of visibly not being here for Kellyanne’s BS.
mhoffman953
@Xzamilloh
Zakaroo is right. Regardless of which party you support, that was very unprofessional by Anderson Cooper. You would never see Walter Cronkite, Barbara Walters, Larry King, or even Oprah roll their eyes at the person they are interviewing. If the person being interviewed is espousing nonsense, then simply call them out on it with questions and statements to make a good interview. It’s not asking much to ask others to be respectful and to listen.
Bob LaBlah
“YOU DON’T HAVE TO LIKE Donald Trump to at least respect the Office of the President of the United States.”
Trump disrespected not only the office of the presidency but American democracy itself when he encouraged the Russians to hack Hillary just so he could win. You do not encourage an adversary with nuclear armed missiles pointed at your country to help you get into office and call your adversary’s leader a “good man” while knowing what a tyrant he is. Ask the people of Chechnya how “wonderful” Putin is. How much more obvious could it have been this guy was a loose cannon the GOP did not need in power? Anderson’s theatrics reflected the feelings of many present and former members of the GOP toward just about everything this ol’ trailer park slut has to say in defense of this Manchurian Candidate via Moscow.
eddie_finch
“encouraged the Russians to hack Hillary just so he could win”…he did no such thing. Unless of course you’re too stupid to recognize sarcasm.
Josh in OR
“YOU DON’T HAVE TO LIKE Donald Trump to at least respect the Office of the President of the United States.”
No. I don’t. Not when the person holding the position is a puppet for a totalitarian asshole like Putin. Not when those who represent the President spout blatant lies and whine about persecution when those lies get called out.
And sure, if Cooper was a rightie and Conway was a leftie, there’d be a kerfuffle over misogyny, but the thing people aren’t talking about, apparently, is that if it had been Sean Spicer spouting nonsenseshite a mile a minute to distract the public from the facts, he would have rolled his eyes at that too.
We owe NO ONE in power any respect they don’t prove themselves worthy of. And Trump et al have proven themselves worthy only of the basest derision. Basest, you see, because none of them are smart enough to figure out actual complex derision…
northwest
Is there any other way to react to KellyAnne? I’m sure Anderson simply couldn’t help himself and I can’t blame him for it.
o.codone
KellyAnn looks like that woman who passed out drunk in a Texas honkey tonk with a cigarette in her mouth more times than anyone can count. That’s why I LOVE her. Cuz I’ve done that (once or twice). Hahahahaha.
eddie_finch
Ahhh, but when Sean Spicer asks a reporter to stop shaking her head and calling him a liar, he’s the most sexist man that ever lived. Lol. Hypocrites.
hansniemeijer
Anderson looks like he is thinking “here we go again”
John
Sorry Andy, but as a professional you do not roll your eyes at a “guest”. You do not have to like or agree but you treat a “guest” with respect even IF you are disrespected, you take the “high road”.
gary69mike
Hahahaha!!! I roll my eyes every time I see her. I can’t believe that Trump keeps her employed. It seems like she’d be the type of person he’d make fun of. He’s definitely not keeping her around because of her looks.
