I'm gay and Muslim. I want to tell the Muslim community the Islamophobia being spewed now doesn't reflect my values as a gay man. #Orlando

Hate/Darkness win if we allow Islamophobia/xenophobia to take over after homophobia rears its ugly head. #Pulse #LGBTPride

Hopefully this tragedy will bring us together as a LGBTQ community, and be a wake-up call for us to stop with all this inner discrimination and being mean among ourselves, based on age ,race, body type, dick size: etc. etc. When someone does not like our lifestyle or sexual orientation, they don’t see all the things that gays see. To them, we are ALL just a bunch of FAGS…

Horror.

This murdering thug’s brain was clearly addled by religious bullshit. The world is a better place without him.
Paco
He chose a gay bar to commit this massacre, but sadly this will end up just being about gun violence. I mourn the victims of this terrible hate crime.
ChuckF
Gun violence is out of hand! It hit us big time this time and we should all stand up to the NRA and force Congress to enact sane legislation. We can’t just keep talking. We stopped smoking, and we can stop gun violence.

I hope you report on what the Gov of Texas tweeted. The link between religion and homo-hatred (beyond phobia) connects yet again. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3637672/A-man-reaps-sows-Texas-governor-sparks-outrage-anti-LGBT-tweet-just-hours-Orlando-gay-club-massacre.html

Of course now its “Islamophobia” I guess defending a religion is more important than peoples lives
GC1985
Not everybody tweeted well.
@Sansacro: I thought it was the Texas Lt. Governor? Either way… douchebaggery.
Check out this nasty tweet that also seen huge backlash:

I have not been this sad or emotionally affected by an incident in such a long time. Mathew Shepard’s murder being one that stands out as an example. I know its an irrational response, but it is making me uncontrollably sad. So many lives lost, such pain. I have always believed that events were the result of a dialectic of human interaction and socio-political confluence, but this makes me think that approach is just stupid. I am wrong, there is real actual evil in the world.
IDoNotHaveToAgreeWithYou
Gavin Newsom and everyone else making excuses for the muslim thug cult killing gays all over the world daily need to shut the fuck up. We have an enemy that is killing us and we need to fight it, not pander to it.
GC1985
@IDoNotHaveToAgreeWithYou: You need to shut the fuck up. Along with the rest of the violent right wing trolls on here.
Stilinski26
The guy who tweeted he is Gay and Muslim is getting lots of backlash from his fellow Muslims.
NateB79
@Theonewhoismany: I personally don’t think it’s an irrational reaction at all. It’s ok to be sad and feel emptionally affected by this. It was a direct attack on our community, and this heinous tragedy and the mouth breathers on the internet cheering as if it were good news, is a sobering reminder that no matter how far things have come in the US for the LGBT community, we are far from a place where we can even feel safe at a place that is supposed to be safe for us.
ListenLad
I wish I had the words to help, but no such words exist, for words cannot fix this. All I can say is my thoughts and prayers, while it should not matter I am a Christian and heterosexual, are with the victims of this disaster.
crowebobby
Controlling everyone who buys guns may be and may remain too difficult to be a practical reality, but perhaps making gun shop owners report those who buy assault weapons to the police or FBI who could then investigate them further would be a more manageable preposition. I don’t think there are millions of assault weapons being sold like there are regular hand guns and hunting rifles. Maybe I’m wrong.
