MR. NICE GUY

Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: Gays Are “Ugly,” Homosexuality Like Stealing

For a man who says his country doesn’t have any gay people, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has some strong feelings about homosexuality. On Piers Morgan Tonight, which should just be retitled “S**t Homophobes Say,” Ahmadinejad opined that homosexuality was something “ugly,” and that decriminalizing homosexuality was akin to legitimizing stealing.

“Let me ask you this: Do you believe that anyone is giving birth through homosexuality?,” Ahmadinejad said when Morgan asked about sexuality being inborn. “Homosexuality ceases procreation. Who has said that if you like or believe in doing something ugly, and others do not accept your behavior, that they’re denying your freedom? Perhaps in a country they wish to legitimize stealing.”

Morgan then asked Ahmadinejad, who has two sons, what he would do if one came out as gay: “Proper education must be given … the education system must be revamped,” the president responded. “The political system must be revamped. And these must be also reformed, revamped along the way. But if you, if a group recognizes an ugly behavior or ugly deed as legitimate, you must not expect other countries or other groups to give it the same recognition.”

Does “proper education” entail hanging them from the tallest tree, Mr. President?
